Z tohoto dùvodu byla v roce 1991 vydána vyhláška è.76/91 Sb. o požadavcích na omezování ozáøení z radonu a z dalších pøírodních radionuklidù, která byla v roce 1997 nahrazena novým atomovým zákonem è.14/1997 Sb., vyhláškou è.184/1997 Sb. o požadavcích na zajištìní radiaèní ochrany a novelizací stavebního zákona è.83/1998 Sb.

(National Environmental Health Association) has been selected to administer the National Radon Proficiency Program (NRPP). They provide lists of certified individuals and laboratories.
The above list is being updated constantly and may NOT have everyone included yet.
There are currently two methods to find listed/certified companies and individuals. The NEHA list and/or your state's radon program listing. To use the NEHA list, go to their website and scroll down to the section "Lists of Certified Individuals". Then choose the credential that you are looking for, such as measurement, mitigation or laboratories. When asked to choose a state, you are given a list of individuals whose businesses reside in that state. If you live in a small state or near the border of a neighboring state, you may want to search another state list.

Radon on hajuton, mauton ja näkymätön radioaktiivinen kaasu, joka hajoaa kiinteiksi hajoamistuotteiksi. Huoneilmassa leijuvat radonin hajoamistuotteet kulkeutuvat hengityksen mukana keuhkoihin. Itse radonkaasu poistuu uloshengityksen mukana, mutta kiinteät hajoamistuotteet tarttuvat keuhkojen sisäpintaan. Keuhkojen saama säteilyannos lisää keuhkosyöpäriskiä. Suomessa todetaan vuosittain 2000 keuhkösyöpätapausta, joista radonin arvioidaan aiheuttavan noin 200 keuhkosyöpää. Radonpitoisen veden nauttimisesta aiheutuu säteilyä ruuansulatuselimille.

Named for the element Radium. Say what? Radon is pronounced as RAY-don History and Uses: Radon was discovered by Friedrich Ernst Dorn, a German chemist, in 1900 while studying radium 's decay chain. Originally named niton after the Latin word for shining, nitens, radon has been known as radon since 1923. Today, radon is still primarily obtained through the decay of radium. At normal room temperatures, radon is a colorless, odorless, radioactive gas. The most common forms of radon decay through alpha decay . Alpha decay usually isn't considered to be a great radiological hazard since the alpha particles produced by the decay are easily stopped. However, since radon is a gas, it is easily inhaled and living tissue is directly exposed to the radiation. Although it has a relatively short half-life , radon decays into longer lived, solid, radioactive elements which can collect on dust particles and be inhaled as well. What is Radon?
    Radon is a colorless, odorless and tasteless radioactive gas that occurs naturally in most rocks and soil. It is produced by the breakdown of uranium in soil, rock and water. Radon is harmlessly dispersed in outdoor air, but when trapped in buildings can increase the risk of lung cancer, especially at elevated levels.
What is the Health Risk?
    According to the Surgeon General, exposure to radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States and is estimated to cause 15,000 to 22,000 of lung cancer deaths per year. Radon is not known to cause other illnesses or problems such as upper respiratory infections, colds or allergic reactions. Its only known health effect is an increased risk of developing lung cancer. However, as with those who smoke, not everyone exposed to high levels of radon will develop lung cancer, and the time between exposure and the onset of cancer may be many years.

Radon is a colorless, odorless, tasteless gas that occurs naturally in most soils. Although you may not be aware of its presence, radon is a substance that poses the potential for lung cancer when a person is exposed to high levels over long periods of time. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that radon causes between 7,000 and 30,000 lung cancer deaths per year in the U.S., making it the second leading cause of lung cancer behind smoking. Radon exposure has also been shown to increase the risk of lung cancer among smoker. This fact sheet describes how radon forms in soils, how it infiltrates our living areas, how you can detect it, and what measures you can take to reduce your exposure to it.
What is Radon?
Radon-222 is a radioactive gas that is produced by the decay of uranium-238. which is found in varying degrees of concentration in most soils, in rock, and in ground water. As uranium-238 decays, radon-222 is formed. It, in turn, decays into various particles which can be inhaled in the air we breathe. Most of the time radon enters the lower levels of buildings through cracks in foundations or openings around pipes. Once inside, it is free to move about, and dissipates as it does so. For this reason, concentrations are usually higher in lower levels of buildings as compared to upper levels. After the energy crises of the 1970s, some experts argued that advances in building construction to conserve energy made it more likely that radon concentrations could be elevated in doors. Studies undertaken over the past decade however, have not substantiated this claim. Radon levels have not been found to be higher in well insulated homes. Thus concern about radon should not prevent anyone from taking steps to making living quarters more energy efficient.
