long. This second margin is divided up by, vertical lines, into three sections. The first section on the left hand side of the board, is one inch high by 7 inches long, and is colored red. The middle section is 1 inch high by 7 inches long and is colored white. The right hand side, section is 1 inch
high by 6 inches long and is colored blue. The red section is labeled "3- Points", the white section is labeled "6- Points" and the blue section is labeled "10- Points". Directly under the red section, labeled 3 points, is another red section that is also 7 inches long but is 14 inches high. This section contains 98 squares. The sides of the squares are 1 inch long. These squares are drawn with lines.
21 of these squares are labeled "Double Points". 77 of these squares are labeled or named with different substances: Example "gold", "iron", "water", "ammonia", "table salt", etc.

22. Package: Areas/reasonng/chem/congen/
Developed in 1980, The DENDRAL Project delt with analysis of molecular structure in organic chemistry. The chemical and physical properties of compounds are determined not just by their constituent atoms, but by the arrangement of these atoms as well. The CONGEN program implements the general (acyclic and cyclic) generation algorithm in a system that allows a chemist to constrain its enumeration in a variety of ways.

Research Projects
Philosophy of Nanoscale Science and Technology
Praised as the technology of the 21st century with unprecedented revolutionary impact on all aspects of our culture, nanoscale research is now attracting and incorporating a large variety of classical scientific and technological disciplines. This project analyses issues of interdisciplinarity, the relationship between science and technology, the variety of technological paradigms, the role of visions, and ethical aspects of nanoscale research. Part of the project is carried out in the University of South Carolina's Nanoscale Interdisciplinary Research Team
Philosophy of Chemistry
In spite of its considerable cultural significance, chemistry has been nearly neglected by philosophers of science due to the dominating paradigm of mathematical physics. The research project "philosophy of chemistry" tries to elaborate pecularities of chemistry in various philosophical aspects and in comparison to other sciences and technologies. Emphasis is laid both on theoretical and practical topics of philosophy. The project is divided up in several parts:
  • Theory of experimental knowledge of substances Theory of experimental-classificatory methods Semiotics, aesthetics and theory potential of the chemical sign language

37. Sizzling Organic Chemistry Dramas
These are four somewhat bawdy (if you're a molecule) plays illustrating organic chemistry reaction mechanisms.
http://www.heptune.com/chemtale.html
Sizzling Organic Chemistry Dramas!
by Brenna Lorenz
Electrophilic Addition
(A Molecular Drama) Characters : Secondary carbon (Sec) is sharing four electrons with Primary Carbon (Prim) to form a propene molecule. Along comes a hungry electrophilic Hydrogen (Hyd) who is bonded to an electron-hogging Chlorine (Chlor). Hyd : Oh, look at all those electrons on that propene!
Chlor : What's with you? Aren't my electrons good enough for you?
Hyd : (disgusted) Your electrons. That's the whole trouble with you. They're our electrons, you pig!
Prim : Hi, Hydrogen! Nice nucleus!
Chlor : You keep your electrons away from my Hydrogen's nucleus!
Hyd : (to Propene) Would you share your electrons with little old me?
Prim and Sec : Yes!
Hyd : (Shoving electron pair at Chlorine) Here! Keep your precious electrons! I'm going to bond with someone who appreciates me.
(Hydrogen grabs one of the electron pairs shared by Secondary and Primary Carbons, and after a brief struggle, Secondary lets go, leaving Hydrogen bonded to Primary.)
Sec : Help! I'm a carbocation! Someone give me some electrons, quick! (Spots Chlorine.) Hey, you've got electrons to spare. Share them with me.
