Editorial Review Place the mount on any stable surface, and adjust the position of your GPS to your liking. The friction mount weighs enough to keep your device put on the dash, even when sudden maneuvers are necessary. It's ideal for states in which the use of windshield suction mounts is illegal. In addition to its convenience, you can quickly place your GPS out of sight, and without leaving any residue on the windshield, both handy for any potential prying eyes. Compatible Garmin Models

Editorial Review Warranty: AmazonBasics 1-Year Limited Warranty [PDF] Durable Exterior and Soft Interior Elastic Sides and Convenient Pocket Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging Warranty Information What's in the Box Reviews
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?) I currently own two Garmin GPS units, the GARMIN 010-00656-00 Nuvi 250W Widescreen Travel Assistant and the Garmin nvi 285W/285WT 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Traffic. Both are the same size.
Both fit perfectly in the Garmin 4.3-Inch Carrying Case. But, now that I own this AmazonBasics Carrying Case for Portable GPS Units (Black), which costs less and, I think, is better-made, I see no reason to buy the Garmin case. This AmazonBasics unit is slightly smaller in exterior dimensions than the Garmin one, yet the AmazonBasics case is padded better. In addition, the AmazonBasics unit has elastic extensions on its sides rather than the vinyl ones on the Garmin; the extensions leave room at both the top and bottom of the sides in order to facilitate retrieving the GPS unit. It is easy to insert and remove my Garmins in either of these two cases. Don't let the elastic sides dissuade you from the purchase; they appear to be quite robust and I am certain that this case will last at least as long, if not longer, than Garmin's own. Like the Garmin case, the AmazonBasics case has a pocket; however about the only thing you could put into either would be a few small pieces of paper. Especially when the GPS is stored in either of the cases, it is difficult to retrieve anything stored in the pocket. Yet I suppose it's better to have it than not to have it. Someone may find a use for it. Since AmazonBasics has begun, I have obtained several of their items. In all cases thus far I have found the items to be at least comparable to the "name-brand" equivalent (and better made in some cases) and they are priced lower. In my opinion, Amazon Basics products represent good value for money. The "frustration-free" packaging is a bonus; though you DO need an implement to open the box (I use an ordinary letter opener), there is none of the teeth-gnashing associated with those "wonderful modern" plastic packaging which are now so ubiquitous. (I detest that type of packaging!) I give this little case five stars in its category - for its construction, for its design, for its usefulness, and for its price. For owners of the Garmin 200-series GPS units, and for owners of other GPS units which are of the same size, I recommend this case highly.
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?) If you are looking for a portable case for your GPS, the Amazon Basics may be just what you are looking for. This faux leather case will keep your GPS screen free from scratches when not in use in your vehicle. More importantly, I was looking for a small snug case to keep my nvi in because the excessive heat in an unattended vehicle can shorten the lifespan of the internal lithium battery.
This is a small unit (4.92 x 3.07 x 0.78 inches) and should be able to be used with the following nvis: nvi 200W, nvi 205W, nvi 250W, nvi 255W, nvi 260W, nvi 265WT, nvi 465T, nvi 610, nvi 650, nvi 660, nvi 670, nvi 680, nvi 750, nvi 755T, nvi 760, nvi 765T, nvi 770, nvi 775T, nvi 780, nvi 785T, nvi 850, nvi 855, nvi 880, nvi 885T I checked many of the Magellan Roadmate models and the dimensions won't work with this case, but it's worth checking on your measurements if you misplaced your original case or need an extra one. I did not check the TomToms. Now, some of these nvis will have a tight fit so it may be wise to check your measurements or if you prefer to have a case in hand you may wish to buy offline. You need to be careful to check that your power key is set to the right so your screen is locked each time you use the case. Secondly, when you want to remove your GPS, there is no need to tug at it. Place the case on a flat surface or in your lap. Slip your fingers underneath the GPS and your thumb on the top. With your other hand lightly pull the top of the case upwards and gently tug at the GPS to remove it. After a few tries you'll be able to remove your GPS easily. PROS: * Snug fit will ensure your GPS will not slip out of the case. * The internal lithium battery will last longer if you keep it out of the heat in this case. * The faux leather can be easily cleaned as opposed to real leather. * The case has a front pocket for notes or credit cards. * A soft interior felt-like (tricot) liner will keep the screen scratch free. * Flexible elastic bands on either side of the case enable the user to carry variable sized GPS models. * Competitive, affordable price. CONS: None, unless you accidentally hit the power key when inserting your device. This case suits my needs perfectly and I'm quite pleased with the quality, the look, and the price. If you are looking for a small, portable case, this is one you might want to consider!
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?) I got this for my 4.3" TomTom 920. I like it because it is simple and doesn't take up extra space by having nice, clean lines. Its walls are just sturdy enough to protect the LCD screen and keep it from getting scratched. My problem is that my TomTom is too thick to fit into the case. I practically had to shove it in and it would not fit all the way. Then I could barely remove it. So, because TomToms have a rounded back and a thicker dimension than most, it does not fit in this case.
What does fit: Prime Entertainment Disney Mix Max Plus Media Player - Pirates of the Caribbean, iPod touch (loosely--will fall out, but can be used like a pocket inside your purse or luggage), Kodak Zi6 HD Pocket Video Camera Overall, an inexpensive simple option to protect your LCD screen electronic items. Just be aware that it does not fit all 4.3" GPS units. Does not protect from dust or dirt with the open sides, but if you need something light and easy for basic protection, this is for you.
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?) This fits our Garmin ("almost" read below) and keeps it safe from scratches, dust etc but it's not very functional when it comes to the buttons! When you slide it in (extremely tight fit) it automatically presses the power button on the side so you end up leaving it 1/4" out of the case so that the button doesn't get pressed inside the tight squeeze. Then when you try to get it out, you have to pluck away at the top to pry it out. I think the concept is there for "protection" But for it to be "useful" it needs to consider the design of the product it's protecting.
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?) I have Garmin 660 and 765T GPS devices. I had purchased a genuine Garmin case for the Nuvi 660 unit, but the Nuvi 765T was always just tossed in the center console compartment in my car when not in use. Wanting something to protect the 765T, I decided to give the AmazonBasics Portable GPS carrying case a try. It arrived in Amazon's famous "Frustration Free Packaging," which provided proper protection for shipping yet was extremely easy to open. The Amazon case is soft and flexible, with durable elastic on each side, allowing the case to expand for different GPS models. My Garmin Nuvi 765T slid into the case with little effort, although pulling the device back out took a little more work. The fit was snug at first, but after using the case for a couple of weeks the case loosened its grip just enough to allow easy retrieval of the GPS unit. But it is still plenty snug enough to prevent the GPS from falling out of the case accidentally.
The inside of the case has a soft padding, which prevents scratching of the LCD display screen and also offers a decent amount of protection against bumps and short drops. Because my Nuvi 765T GPS device has a slider type on/off switch on the top of the device, I find it necessary to slide the switch in the lock position before inserting into the case. This isn't a problem with the case, but rather an unavoidable issue with the design of the GPS as well. I have the same problem with the Garmin case, if I slide my 765T in it. My Nuvi 660 has a push button type on/off switch, which isn't affected by sliding the unit in and out of the case. I am extremely pleased with this AmazonBasics GPS carrying case. It is soft, well padded, looks stylish, and provides the right amount of protection for my GPS investment. While it's not genuine leather, it looks like it is, and it is soft and supple enough that I am sure it will stand up to many years of use and abuse. I definitely recommend this case to anyone looking for a protective case for their GPS. Please remember, this case has exterior dimensions of 4.92 x 3.07 x 0.78 inches, and was designed specifically for Garmin Nuvi series GPS devices, although I'm sure a few other manufacturer's GPS devices could fit in this case as well. The case is inexpensive but is made of quality materials. It is definitely a great, cheaper alternative to buying a Garmin branded case. I actually find the Amazon case to be better than the Garmin case, but that is just my opinion. ... Read more | |||||||||||
