I have had endometriosis for six years now."The Endometriosis Answer Book" was very helpful for me when I was first diagnosed, but now there are new books that have updated information. This book was written in 1989 and should not be purchased when there are books out there with new findings, new answers and new hope. The "Endometriosis Sourcebook" would be the better choice.

Although some of the information is outdated Dr. Lauersen does a good job of explaining the disease of endometriosis.He gives all the pros and cons on treatments that are available.The information on the endometriosisdiet makes this book a valuable asset.

This phenomenon, known as catamenial hemopneumothorax, is when endometriosis attaches to the lung, releases fluid, and allows air to move in by an unknown mechanism—all of which causes the lung to collapse.For several years, denial was my coping mechanism, but after three major surgeries to remove endometriosis, seven chest tube operations to inflate and remove fluid from my lung, and extensive research, I conceded to the humbling reality.Many medical professionals do not know about this syndrome and most standard textbooks do not mention it.The literature states that 100 people in the U.S. have this rare gynecological disease, but the truth is only 100 appear in the literature.I am convinced, along with my pulmonologist and gynecologist, that many women go undiagnosed due to lack of knowledge in the medical world.
