Rafal T. Prinke - The Great Work in the Theatre of the World
Article originally published in A Compendium on the Rosicrucian Vault , ed. by Adam McLean, Edinburgh, 1985, 19-34.
THE GREAT WORK IN THE THEATRE OF THE WORLD
The symbolic significance of the Vault of Our Father C.R.C. as described in the Fama Fraternitatis and other supposedly Rosicrucian sources
General Remarks
The Vault of Christian Rosenkreutz, the story of its foundation, later discovery and opening, and its description form the central element of the first published document of the Rosicrucian Order, generally believed to be one of the three "official" publications. The document is of course the Fama Fraternitatis published in Cassel in 1614. The flood of various pamphlets and books on the subject which followed its publication and still continues to be issued by different groups and individuals (either claiming succession to the original authors or analysing the Rosicrucian phenomenon) contains surprisingly little additional information about the Vault and its meaning. Before passing on to the presentation of my own ideas on the subject, however, I would like to devote some space to defining the approaches or angles from which the whole Rosicrucian problem can be (and is) studied. These can be roughly divided into the following groups:

The Article printed below is a resource text designed to expose you to all the difficulties that the Poles faced from September 1, 1939 until 1945 and beyond.
The betrayal trail is long and the Polish suffering is even more intense than all of the scholars of WWII have determined.
Hopefully these dimensions will become obvious to you! GENERAL INFORMATION
Poland's Place in the Sun.
Poland is the sixth country in Europe both as regards area (150,470 square miles) and population (35,500,000). Among all the nations of the world, Poland ranks eleventh in population and twenty-sixth in area.
Poland's frontier is 2,250 miles long. Of this only forty-five miles is Baltic sea coast. This 2 % gateway to the world is totally inadequate for Poland's needs, compared to Germany's 2l%, France's 60%, Spain's 65%, America's 71%, Great Britain's 100%.
In the 15th Century, Poland was the largest state in Europe, as the following table shows:

Math 461/561 Short Biographies
Excerpts and comments on some biographies from the St. Andrews University History of Mathematics Site at http://www-groups.dcs.st-and.ac.uk/~history/Mathematicians/ Al' Biruni , submitted by Tim Amnott Excerpts:
Al'Biruni's contributions to science are of major importance. He believed that the Earth rotated on its axis and made accurate calculations of latitude and longitude. In 1000 he wrote on calendars and in 1030 he wrote al Qanun al-Mas'udi which contains a collection of 23 observations of equinoxes beginning with observations by Hipparchus and Ptolemy and ending with two observations which he made himself. He also wrote a treatise on timekeeping, wrote on the astrolabe and a mechanical calendar. He makes interesting observations on the velocity of light, stating that its velocity is immense compared with that of sound. Comments:
By pure luck, I found another mathemetician who contributed to the body of work that existed before the Age of Exploration that proved that the world was not flat. I still don't believe that teachers actually taught (or at least implied) that Colombus proved that the world was round. That much was already known. The only pieces missing were reliable maps of where land masses were. By-the-way, Where did Columbus get his data on the circumference of the world? Others had already calculated a much more accurate number. Nina Bari , submitted by Misty D. Waller

  • I. Vorwort – Prolog Saturn

His first memoir on the foundations of mathematics was published there in 1810 but, after it received less than good reviews from Lacroix and Lagrange , Wronski broke off relations with the Institute in Paris. Among other things he did was design caterpillar vehicles to compete with the railways. However they were never manufactured. His main work involved applying philosophy to mathematics, the philosophy taking precedence over rigorous mathematical proofs. He criticised Lagrange 's use of infinite series and introduced his own ideas for series expansions of a function. The coefficients in this series are determinants now known as Wronskians (so named by Muir in 1882). In 1812 he published a work claiming to show that every equation had an algebraic solution, contradicting Ruffini 's results which were already published. Wronski's work here, although of course wrong, nevertheless still has important applications.

From The History of the Theory of Determinants (Vol. I, 1906) by Thomas Muir DETERMINANTS IN GENERAL, FROM THE YEAR 1784 TO 1812. The writers of this period are eight in number, viz., Hindenburg, Rothe, Gauss , Monge, Hirsch, Binet, Prasse, Wronski . Of these the first two and Prasse, belonging as they did to the so-called Combinatorial School, were not independent of one another ; Hirsch was a mere expositor ; and the others were authors who had not specially studied the subject, but who had attained results in it in the course of other investigations. [p54] WRONSKI, (1812).
In 1810 Wronski presented to the Institute of France a memoir on the so-called Technie de l'Algorithmie Combinatory sums . The memoir consisted merely of a statement of results, and probably on this account, although favourably reported on by Lagrange and Lacroix, was not printed. The subject of it, however, turns us repeatedly in the printed two years later ; and from the indications there given we can so far form an idea of the grasp which Wronski had of the theory of the said sums At page 14 [. . . etc. ]
