Frank Morley entered King's College Cambridge in 1879, having won an open scholarship. However ill health disrupted his undergraduate course and he was forced to take an extra year because of these health problems. Morley only achieved the eighth place in the First Class Honours. To say 'only' here may seem strange since this was an extremely good result in an examination which saw Mathews first and Whitehead fourth. Richmond writes in [4], however:- Ill health beyond all doubt had prevented him from doing himself justice, but the disappointment was keen. In middle life he was loath to speak of his student days... Morley graduated from Cambridge with a B.A. in 1884 and taught mathematics at Bath College until 1887. He settled in the United States and was appointed an instructor at the Quaker College in Haverford, Pennsylvania in 1887. The following year he was promoted to professor. One of the most sparkling gems in all of elementary geometry is Morley's Theorem: The three intersections of the trisectors of the angles of a triangle, lying near the three sides respectively, form an equilateral triangle. If the reference triangle is labeled ABC, then the equilateral triangle is called the Morley triangle of ABC. Closely related are other Morley triangles and Morley centers. Born in Woodbridge, Suffolk, England, Morley received the Sc.D. degree from Cambridge University. He moved to Pennsylvania in 1887 and taught at Haverford College until 1900, when he became chairman of the mathematics department at Johns Hopkins University. The pencil portrait of Morley seen here is used by permission of the estate of Felix M. Morley. (Felix Morley, son of Frank and Lilian Morley, was editor of the Washington Post (1933-1940), won a Pulitzer Prize (1936), and was President of Haverford College (1940-1945).) In 1900, Morley's Theorem first appeared in the literature as a special case of a theorem in the first issue of Transactions of the American Mathematical Society . December 28, 1996, marks the thirtieth anniversary of the death of Frank Chodorov, one of the giants of the American Old Right. It seems appropriate to look back at his life and career, not only to pay homage, but also to rediscover some of the fundamental insights he brought to the fore in his many books, articles, and speeches. Frank Chodorov had a profound influence on the postwar American Right. Murray N. Rothbard, William F. Buckley Jr., James J. Martin, and many other exponents of the free market have cited Chodorov's work as vital to the formation of their worldviews. Indeed, Buckley once said, "It is quite unlikely that I should have pursued a career as a writer but for the encouragement he gave me just after I graduated from Yale." Born in New York City in 1887, Chodorov graduated from Columbia University in 1907, and spent the next 30 years working in a variety of jobs, including a stint as an advertising representative and running a clothing factory. "From four to seven years was about all I could take of any occupation throughout my life. I went at each job I undertook with verve, mastered it and when it became routine I lost interest and went looking for something else," Chodorov wrote in his 1962 autobiography, Out of Step.

For Our freedom... Our strength... Our dignity.. and for the thousands of innocent people who were lost in the World Trade Center, and the flights that hit the Pentagon and the Countryside of Pennsylvania.. For this we fight for: Operation Enduring Freedom "We also must never forget the most vivid events of recent history. On September the 11th, 2001, America felt its vulnerability even to threats that gather on the other side of the earth. We resolved then, and we are resolved today, to confront every threat, from any source, that could bring sudden terror and suffering to America." "The attacks of September the 11th showed our country that vast oceans no longer protect us from danger. Before that tragic date, we had only hints of al Qaeda's plans and designs. Today in Iraq, we see a threat whose outlines are far more clearly defined, and whose consequences could be far more deadly. Saddam Hussein's actions have put us on notice, and there is no refuge from our responsibilities.
We did not ask for this present challenge, but we accept it. Like other generations of Americans, we will meet the responsibility of defending human liberty against violence and aggression. By our resolve, we will give strength to others. By our courage, we will give hope to others. And by our actions, we will secure the peace, and lead the world to a better day."

Title: LITTLE BRITAIN Description: New York: Macmillan, 1960. First ed. thus. Octavo, 27pp. This is Chapter 8 of Morley's book "The Great North Road". Little Britain is the part of London between Smithfield and St. Paul's that was a center for printing. Very good in slightly worn and rubbed patterned paper on boards. Item # Add to your cart Please read book descriptions carefully. I write descriptions accurately, with a slight bias toward overdescribing faults, if any exist, so that you will know exactly what you are buying. I ship books anywhere, at approximate cost, which depends on weight, destination and means of shipping. In the U.S., books are normally sent via Priority mail, with insurance added for books over $50 in value. This charge is added to the cost of the book, and, in Connecticut, a 6% sales tax is added to the total. If you live in another country, please specify air or surface shipping. I can then quote postage costs. Books may be returned within a week of arrival for any reason. Shipping costs are not refundable unless the book is not as described.

    1ST AND 2ND MORLEY CENTERS
The famous Morley Theorem states that the three points of intersection of the adjacent trisectors of the angles of a triangle ABC form an equilateral triangle. In 1967, Peter Yff proved that the center of the Morley triangle, called the 1st Morley center, is given by trilinear coordinates cos(A/3) + 2 cos(B/3) cos(C/3) :
    cos(B/3) + 2 cos(C/3) cos(A/3) :
    cos(C/3) + 2 cos(A/3) cos(B/3).
While studying the 1st Morley Center, Peter Yff proved that the Morley equilateral triangle is perspective to triangle ABC, and that the center of perspective, or 2nd Morley center, has remarkably simple trilinears: sec(A/3) : sec(B/3) : sec(C/3) For an introduction to the Morley triangles and 150 further references on these remarkable objects, see Cletus O.
