Adolph "Bud" Mayer was born on February 16, 1919 in Denver, Colorado. He received a B. A. in journalism in 1941 from the University of Colorado. After graduation, he worked for the Max Goldberg Advertising Agency as an account executive. In 1942 he began work as a reporter for the Rocky Mountain News and continued there until 1944. He and his wife Eileen Barnett then moved to San Francisco. While in San Francisco he worked for the San Francisco Examiner and then joined the National Broadcasting Company where he was a member of the News and Special Events Department. He left NBC to set up and direct a news special events department at KFBK, the largest radio chain in Sacramento, California. In the summer of 1949, he returned to Denver and directed the publicity for the Central City Opera Festival. In August of 1949 he joined the University of Denver as a member of the Division of Public Relations and Development. In 1954 he was promoted to Director of Public Relations. During his time at DU, he was quite active in his field, holding national office in American College Public Relations Association and Public Relations Society of America, teaching public relations and journalism, and receiving many awards. He also volunteered his time with organizations outside his field including the Colorado Heart Association and the American National Red Cross. After 40 years of working for DU, he retired in 1989. Adolph "Bud" Mayer died on April 8, 1999.

Adolph Mayer Franz Neumann . He received his doctorate from Heidelberg in 1861. Continuing his studies at Heidelberg, Mayer submitted his habilitation thesis to that university and gained the right to teach at universities in 1866. He taught at Heidelberg for the rest of his life, becoming an extraordinary professor in 1871 and marrying Margerete Weigel in the following year. He was promoted to an ordinary professor in 1890. Wussing writes in [1] that:- As a professor, Mayer enjoyed great respect from his colleagues and students. His activities as a researcher ... earned him membership in numerous learned societies ... Mayer worked on differential equations , the calculus of variations and mechanics. He emphasised the principle of least action in all his work which followed the path of Lagrange and Jacobi . His work on the integration of partial differential equations and a search to determine maxima and minima using variational methods brought him close to the investigations which Lie was carrying out around the same time.

Adolph "Bud" Mayer (1919-1999) came to the University of Denver in 1949 as a member of the Division of Public Relations and Development. With a background in journalism, broadcasting, and public relations, he was soon promoted to the Director of Public Relations. He held this position from 1954 to 1989, when he retired. Mayer passed away on April 8, 1999. Before Mayer was employed by the University of Denver, he worked on publicity for a Central City Opera House production starring Mae West, which received national attention. Mayer once said, "I might have never gotten into publicity work had it not been for Mae West." Included in his correspondence is a letter signed, "Mae". Mayer was married to Eileen Barnett, who is also affiliated with the University of Denver. She currently conducts the annual University of Denver Spa through the Office of Special Programs and has done so for many years. The Adolph "Bud" Mayer Collection contains awards, citations, correspondence, reports, speeches, publications, public relations material, budget and fundraising information, and also papers relating to the University of Denver Faculty Senate Meetings.

In the summer of 1879, in a Chicago Justice of the Peace courtroom, a 30-year-old Czech immigrant and self-educated lawyer named Adolph Kraus faced a 20-year-old Yale Law School graduate, Levy Mayer. The case on trial involved the sale of a lame horse. Mayer's client, the defendant in the case, was his older brother David, a prosperous Chicago merchant who later hired Louis Sullivan to design the building that is now Carson Pirie Scott's State Street store. David Mayer lost the case and both parties appealed to the Cook County Circuit Court in March 1880. (Kraus's client claimed $100 damage but was awarded only $25.) While the appeal was pending, Kraus and Mayer decided to form a partnership. They astutely solved their conflict of interest by paying to settle the case themselves, each contributing $50 to satisfy the judgment. "New Era in the Practice of Law"
