GEOMORPHOLOGY
Coastal Geomorphology of Great Britain ( in preparation
V. May and J. Hansom The shape of the coastline of Britain is continuing to change. There are many factors that influence this changing environment. Aside from the activities of Man, it is not only the types of rocks and their geological structure that make our coasts what they are, but also climate, wind, tide and wave action, the legacy of glaciation and sea level change, vegetative protection and the availability of sediment supply. Nearly a hunderd of the most scientifically important sites have been selected for the GCR to represent to the range and variety of the geomorphology of our coastline, from hard-rock cliffs to beaches and saltmarshes. Contextual descriptions of the dynamics of the systems operating within the sites are given. Chapters are arranged thematically rather than geographically to help draw out the similarities and differences of related systems. To order this volume, go to:

Karst refers to any terrain where the topography has been formed chiefly by the dissolving of rock, primarily carbonates (such as limestone) and evaporites (such as salt). Landforms associated with karst include sinkholes, caves, sinking streams, springs, and solution valleys. Because of the unique geologic and hydrologic features associated with highly developed subterranean networks, the scope of problems related to the karst environment is large. Geomorphology from Space
is an out of print 1986 NASA publication edited by Nicholas M. Short, Sr. and Robert W. Blair, Jr. designed for use by the remote sensing science and educational communities to study landforms and landscapes. The core of this book is a gallery of space imagery consisting of 237 plates, each treating a geographic region where a particular landform theme is exemplified. Commentary, photographs, locator maps, and sometimes a geologic map accompany each plate. Table of Contents Introduction Tectonic Volcanic ...

Introduction and Methods
What exactly is a karst? Well, a good way to find out is to either go to the
library, or simply look it up on the worldwide web. There are many search engines which can be used to find out information via the web. For this project I used several different engines: Yahoo Alta Vista Infoseek , and Lycos .By using such words as "karsts", "karst-geomorphology", and "caves", I found quite a bit of different types of information in reference to this subject. However, many of these sources where incomplete or were simple bibliographies of books and articles relating to karst geomorphology. I was able to verify some of the bibliographic resources by visiting the University of Texas on-line library search called UTNetCat.
