Global Analysis of Concentration-Response Curves Using SigmaPlot to perform global curve fitting is described in the enzyme kinetics article . This approach uses an index variable and index values placed in a column in the worksheet. Also, the the different data sets are column concatenated. This may not be desirable in some cases and is not necessary. This application uses a slightly different approach that does not require data column concatenation. Wiener and Thalody describe the contraction of rabbit aorta to methaxomine and subsequent relaxation to dibenamine. Families of concentration-response curves were measured for varying concentrations of both methaxomine and dibenamine. The family of data sets was then globally fit to data using the following operational model of agonism where E is the measured response, A is the agonist concentration. The curve fit parameters are E m , K A , n and t. E

Introduction to Global Analysis
by
Sergiu Moroianu
These lectures will give an overview of certain problems in Analysis on manifolds which share two common features:
    • They are formulated in terms of spectral properties of differential operators. They are best attacked via pseudo-differential algebras methods.

(At least sketches of) proofs of the results stated will be given. This implies that theorems will not always appear in their most general form.
The analytical core of the course is the theory of classical pseudo-differential operators and its generalizations due to R. Melrose.

Global Analysis in a Predator-Prey System with Nonmonotonic Functional Response
Shigui Ruan, Dongmei Xiao
Abstract. A predator-prey system with nonmonotonic functional response is considered. Global qualitative and bifurcation analyses are combined to determine the global dynamics of the model. The bifurcation analysis of the model depending on all parameters indicates that it exhibits numerous kinds of bifurcation phenomena, including the saddle-node bifurcation, the supercritical and subcritical Hopf bifurcations, and the homoclinic bifurcation. It is shown that there are different parameter values for which the model has a limit cycle or a homoclinic loop, or exhibits the so-called paradox of enrichment phenomenon. Moreover, a limit cycle cannot coexist with a homoclinic loop for all parameters. In the generic case, the model has the bifurcation of cusp type of codimension 2 (i.e., BogdanovTakens bifurcation) but for some specific parameter values it has a multiple focus of multiplicity at least 2. Global Analysis of the DennisWolkowicz Least-Change Secant Algorithm
Lixing Han, Guanghui Liu
Abstract. This paper explores the global convergence of the least-change secant method proposed by Dennis and Wolkowicz [ SIAM J. Numer. Anal ., 30 (1993), pp. 12911314]. This method is a member of the Broyden family, but it doesn't necessarily belong to the Broyden convex family. Furthermore, it can be very close to the DFP method. We will prove that this method, with the Wolfe line search on uniformly convex objective functions, is globally convergent. Key words. Program global analysis Developing Software Design Strategies forMaintainability One of the few known certainties when embarking
http://www.cigital.com/conferences/icsm2000/program-t2.html

Program
: Global Analysis: Developing Software Design Strategies for Maintainability One of the few known certainties when embarking upon the design of a new software system architecture is that the design and its implementation will likely change over time as market requirements, technologies, hardware, and business factors change. Some of these influencing factors impact the entire system, and some directly contradict other factors. These factors may be different in future versions of the product, so your architecture should be designed for maintainability to support the changes that you can reasonably expect. In order to avoid major potential rework, these factors must be addressed from the beginning of high-level design. This half-day tutorial shows how the technique of global analysis can be used to plan better software projects by designing more maintainable architectures that anticipate change. The purpose of global analysis is to analyze the factors that influence the architecture and to develop strategies for accommodating these factors in the architecture design. These influencing factors fall within three categories: organizational, technological, and product. By applying the approach described in this tutorial, we believe that you will have a better understanding and control of the risks associated with alternative software architecture designs. Tutorial participants will learn how to apply global analysis at the beginning of the software architecture design process so that resulting products will better anticipate change and be more maintainable. You will learn how to document the most influential architectural factors using factor tables, then develop strategies for designing the architecture using issue cards. Participants will also be exposed to architecture design review methods such as the SEI's Architecture Tradeoff Analysis Method (ATAM) in order to increase your understanding of the relationships among influencing factors, design tradeoffs, risk mitigation, and anticipating change.

Consumer Broadband Satellite Services: A Global Analysis of Key Players and Market Opportunities Pub Time: 2001/11
Description
Consumer satellite access has remained a central focus for satellite players over the last five years. As broadband Internet demand grows exponentially, satellites are seen as a way to bypass inadequate terrestrial infrastructure and offer service to unserved users. However, technology and cost limitations have forced many satellite companies to scale back aspirations and delay service. Based on these trends, the question arises: Can satellites adequately fulfill the long-term requirements of the consumer access market? This new report from Northern Sky Research provides a complete analysis of the global consumer broadband satellite market, including potential consumer demand and vendor supply over the next 5 years. The report profiles key service providers and equipment manufacturers, as well as future services expected for deployment over the next twenty-four months. Based on a conservative and thorough forecast methodology, there appears to be a significant market opportunity for satellite players in the consumer arena, especially across North America, Europe and Asia. If they live up to their advertised potential, Ka-band systems threaten to upset the status quo with existing consumer Ku-band systems and have the potential to compete with terrestrial alternatives on both a performance and cost basis.
