Australia, November of 1997:
"Being in Australia for the first time, one is under great impression from local flora and fauna. It is amazing, how local plants adapted to the fires, which occur very often. The seeds of some plants are covered with such a thick shell, that it is impossible to crush it even with an enormous hammer. Falling down to the ground , such a nut is not able to sprout, unless a fire occurs. High temperature will crack the shell, and in 2-3 months there appear new sprouts on the burnt ground."
Australia, October of 1998:
"In this expedition we traveled by car from the North of Australia to the South. During the day we devoted all the time to shooting with a camera, and in the evening we moved to a new place. That is why we met kangaroo all the time, which left the shelters. Some of them approached us very closely, but nevertheless kept a safe distance."
Indonesia, Bogor, June of 1997:
"The rain-season in Indonesia is a serious ordeal for the man and machines. If one is farther than 20 m away from the shelter, one will get wet to the skin before reaching it. It begins raining in a trice, as if somebody has turned on a giant shower. Humidity is so high, that after a day of shooting one has to clean the lenses of cameras very thoroughly..."
