Part F. - References
F. UPDATING QUALIFICATION STANDARDS OPM's goal is to keep the requirements in the qualification standards in this Manual as current as possible. Therefore, agencies are requested to inform the Career Entry Group of substantive changes to occupational or agency requirements so that the appropriate qualification standard can be revised. Additionally, if agencies are having difficulty in obtaining well qualified applicants on the basis of current qualification requirements, they should contact the Career Entry Group so that a determination can be made on whether the standard is in need of revision. G. ESTABLISHMENT OF ADDITIONAL STANDARDS The standards contained in this Manual, adapted by use of agency selective factors when necessary, should fit most jobs. Agency headquarters may request establishment of separate standards when the pattern of experience/education for their positions does not follow that of one of the published standards. An agency request for a new standard should include the following information:
  • Approximate number of jobs in the agency that would be covered by the proposed standard, with their grades and organizational and geographic locations;

George Washington University
George Washington University is a private four year institution, located in the federal district of Washington, literally just blocks from the White House. Possessing a student body of approximately 16,000, the school attracts a large foreign contingent, as well as many minority students from the surrounding suburbs.
Alma mater of such luminaries as Colin Powell and Jackie Kennedy Onnasis, politics is by far the most popular area of study at the school, with international affairs being the most popular distinct major. The school, by having the city as its campus, offers students an urban education like no other, offering experiences in internships and nightlife that few schools can.
Students at "GW", if they qualify, can take part in a 5 year chemical toxicology program, a 5 year art therapy program, or a 7 year medical program at one of the best known collegiate hospitals in the country. In fact, President Reagan was often treated at GW's medical center during his years in office.
With 215 organizations on campus as well, there are innumerable things to do at this

Flags of the World
http://flagspot.net/flags/

Maintained by a staff of editors from around the world, the Flags of the World Web site contains over 18,000 pages of information about flags and over 32,000 images of flags. Perhaps the most impressive aspect of the site is the multitude of ways in which users can look for different flags: by country; page title; date of last page update; and most interestingly, topic. Some of these topics include oil companies, pirates, signal flags, weather flags, and flags in movies. Each flag page includes information about the flag's history, the flag's symbology, and in some cases, different incarnations of the nation's flag. For users hoping to learn more about the study of flags (i.e., vexillology), there is a thorough glossary of words commonly used in the field. The site is rounded out by a section that answers frequently asked questions, such as "How do you hang a flag at half mast?" and "Why are these flags similar?" [KMG]
