The class will see how the issues of the succession, of the having and losing of power, and of religion, keep coming up. We will learn to keep an eye out for the facts, to watch for the difference between style and substance. From the videos, for example, we will see how the same person or event can be presented, or spun, differently, Hollywood and history.

As part of our continued commitment to bringing the Middle Ages to the Internet, we are proud to present the largest general medieval glossary on the Internet!! ORB's GUIDE TO MEDIEVAL TERMS
This guide has undergone a long period of gestation. It began as a list of feudal terms compiled by Michael Adams in November 1988. It was one of the first messages to circulate on MEDIEV-L, and then found its way to MALIN at the University of Kansas. Over the years, it became a cooperatiave effort as several other people added terms. In 1995 it found a home on ORB. It has been updated in December, 1998, to include quite a few economic terms, and many terms from Medieval Islam. If you have additions, please contact its current editor, J. S. Arkenberg at California State, Fullerton. Arms and Armour Glossary of Terms

GS#6158 Ordering Information A fresh and vital fusion of myth and legend, lively anecdote and poetry. Written around A.D.1200 by an unnamed Icelandic author, the Orkneyinga Saga is the only medieval chronicle to have Ornkey as the central place of action, and from it we derive much of our knowledge of the Northern Isles and Caithness. The Saga describes the conquest of the islands by the kings of Norway during the Viking expansion of the ninth century and goes on to narrate the subsequent history of the Earldom of Orkney. Dominated by the great figures of the times-Sigurd the Powerful, St Magnus the Martyr and Hrolf, the conqueror of Normandy-the Saga is a powerful account of warfare and the struggle for supremacy. This modern translation captures the force of the

An entertaining story that tells of the Wars of the Roses from a more personality driven aspect. This book is ann excellent way to learn about this historical period. The only problem I had with the book is that Weir, sometimes switches back and forth between using peoples given names and their titles. I guess this is a difficult think to avoid because first sons were often named after the father and titles were transferred only after the previous holder died. Conveniently, Weir includes a genealogy, but even still it is sometimes difficult to keep track of the characters. The nature of the beast, I guess, I haven't read a royal history yet that I don't get the characters confused halfway thorough.
