Fellowships and Scholarships The National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program Established by Congress in 1988 and implemented by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration in 1989, the National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program (also known as Space Grant) contributes to the nation's science enterprise by funding research, education, and public service projects through a national network of 52 university-based Space Grant consortia. These consortia administer programs in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. The consortia's 820 affiliates include 531 academic institutions and 80 businesses. Other partners include state and local government agencies, other federal agencies, and nonprofit organizations. The field of application therefore stretches from the Sun to the Earth, to the other planets and to interplanetary space. The essential responsibilities of the Institute are public service and research tasks in the field of space aeronomy, i.e. tasks requiring a knowledge of data acquired from rockets and artificial satellites in the physics and chemistry of the upper atmosphere and space beyond the Earth's atmosphere. Reserving Space
The William and Ida Friday Center for Continuing Education is intended primarily for UNC schools and departments offering continuing education programs. Non-University groups are welcome to use the Friday Center in accordance with the established use policy. All programs held at the Friday Center must have a clearly identifiable continuing education component. In general, the Center is not intended for use by regularly scheduled classes of instruction or for social functions that are not related to continuing education activities. Our Conference Services Manager is available during regular business hours Monday through Friday to assist with reservation requests. The Conference Services Manager also can answer your questions about the Center's use policy and usage fees. Reservations are considered tentative until your written request has been approved by the Director. Please call 919-962-2598 for reservation information.
