I have spent over a decade researching the families of Maass, Hillman, Webb, Rathke, Whiting, Ehlebracht, Luce, and Roggenbuck. I would appreciate any info you have to share about these families. I am always looking to meet new cousins!
The Maass Family came to the United States around the 1900's and settled in New York. Not staying there for very long, they moved to Minnesota and eventually to Deuel County, South Dakota. I grew up in Watertown, SD which is west of Deuel County and know the area very well.
The Whiting Family has been in the United States since the 1630's. They settled in Dedham, Massachusettes and continue to be an influence there. From Dedham, my family migrated to Wisconsin and then to Grant County, South Dakota. This is the area that the Maass Family and the Whiting Family married. The Whiting Family has fought in every war the United States has been involved with and occupies a residence in just about all 50 states.
I have found cousins that I would probably have never met without this site. I'll try to keep this page as up-to-date as possible and I hope you enjoy researching as much as I do.

About the South Dakota GenWeb Project
In June 1996 a group of genealogists organized the South Dakota Comprehensive Genealogy Database. The idea was to provide a single entry point for all counties in South Dakota, where collected databases would be stored. In addition, the databases would be indexed and cross-linked, so that even if an individual were found in more than one county, they could be located in the index. At the same time, volunteers were found who were willing to coordinate the collection of databases and generally oversee the contents of the web page. The person responsible for this county is Lisa (sparrow1@aol.com). Contact her if you want to add your data to the database.
