64. Benson Needleworks:Smocking, Heirloom Sewing
smocking and Heirloom sewing has to be my favorite. I love the handworkinvolved in smocking and embroidery and the fine sewing
http://www.bensonneedleworks.com/bnsmhl.html
Smocking and Heirloom sewing has to be my favorite. I love the handwork involved in smocking and embroidery and the fine sewing techniques involved in heirloom sewing. The finished garments always amaze me with their beauty and give me a tremendous sense of satisfaction. I love to see the children in beautiful handmade outfits that emphasize just how precious they are. I do a lot of custom work for boys. It is hard to find nice things that are not too "oh my" and are smocked. It is also difficult to find smocked things that are large enough or long enough for boys in the specialty stores. I also specialize in christening gowns, I have made several from known patterns and designed some of my own. A favorite thing I like to do is to help a client design a custom garment sometimes using their own antique laces or parts of other sentimental heirlooms they may have. I have made many reproduction christening gowns and first communion dresses from clients photographs. Infant and girls dresses are a treat to make and if you see anything you like in the Sewing Magazines that you would want, please email me here with your request and/or pictures and I will respond immediately.

68. Smocking Designs For The Pfaff Computerized Sewing Machines
smocking Designs for the Pfaff Computerized sewing Machines. Therehas been much interest lately in smocking by machine. Jeannie
http://www.sewdesigns.com/derosia/smock.htm
Smocking Designs for the Pfaff Computerized Sewing Machines
This is part of a letter I received from Jeannie:
"The stitch conversions can be used by the 1473, 75, 7550 and 7570 machines. The directions are in MS Word 6.0 and there are 4 *.FLG files, created in PCD 2.0. The file name is "Smock.zip".
I did forget one direction: for those without access to a pleater, run gathering rows on your fabric 9mm apart. treat as if pleated fabric.
I hope that you enjoy it. There is one statement in the book that is important: "you are not recreating smocking, but creating a look!" And it is a pleasant one at that!"
These are Jeannie's instructions:
Creating Smocked Garments and Accessories by Machine
Reference The Art of Machine Smocking, The Viking Husqvarna Way
by Deborah Yedziniak
Available from most Viking dealers.
Refer to book for a wonderful method of reproducing smocked delights. However, I have included some additional helps, and have translated the stitch sequences for the Pfaff.

    Smocking Projects
I had no motivation to sew anything, other than the Christmas dresses, after returning from the SAGA convention but then we were told our pack-out date...8 January! Needless to say, that was only a few short weeks away so I was busy finishing up UFO's and general sewing before all my sewing things were boxed up and shipped out. Since i was without machines I kept fabric, floss, plates and pleater in my luggage so I had something to keep my hands busy. I now have three dress fronts smocked and ready to be sewn. I only smocked one of the three Christmas dresses and I hope to add pictures soon. Since moving into a house (the first we've bought) I havne't done much sewing. Too busy getting things organised. Now i am working on a dress for Laura's baptism next month. After that I hope to start on back to school smocking.
I finished Austrailian Smocking and Embroidery #39, Morning Glory in time to take with me to the SAGA convention in St. Louis in September. I received several compliments and I was really pleased with how it turned out. I plan to make another using lighter colored fabric for the Spring.
Also for the convention, I did two original designs for the design show. I've never done anything original before and I really stressed over the first plate for a yoke dress. After stitching, ripping out and stitching, I was finally satisfied with my work. The first plate I titled
