http://www.centrist.org/introduction.html
Introduction The Centrist Party is a progressive third party in the political center. We are progressive in that we support policies that accomplish objectives like:
  • Providing every child with a nurturing and high quality education
  • Helping the poor escape poverty through work and social programs
  • Ensuring that people are economically prosperous and have attained wealth by retirement
  • Safeguarding the environment
  • Keeping the nation healthy and providing health services to those who cannot afford them
  • Upholding civil and human rights
  • Preventing crime by reducing stress in tense communities
  • Rehabilitating criminals so that they can return to productive lives
  • Avoiding fatal foreign conflict but intervening to promote peace
  • Encouraging citizen democracy While we want to achieve these admirable goals, we are concerned that policies implemented over the last 50 years have failed. For example:
    • American students do worse than students in all other developed nations on math and science tests
    • Nearly 14 million children are in poverty, and the wealth gap is enormous
    • The average worker works until May 11 until he or she stops earning to pay taxes
    • International studies show that American health is poorest amongst developed nations
    • About 40 million people do not have health insurance
    • The United States has an enormous debt that requires large interest payments each year
    • The prison population is overflowing
    • Rich special interests are corrupting the legislating process
    • There are many gun crimes and abortions each year

Home Page Social Reform Party Cabinet Workfare ... New NB Objective: To form a Government in New Brunswick, that is truely accountable to the people, and represents the diverse cultural background of New Brunswick.
    What is Social Reform?
By Social Reform, we mean reforming the way that society is run, in certain aspects, within the Province of New Brunswick. It is our beleif that Government in this province, both past and present, has been too "general" in it's representation of the people. The problem lies in the fact, that New Brunswick isn't general at all. In fact we have various groups that require special attention and representation in this province such as the female population, senior citizens, and youth. A Social Reform Party Government in New Brunswick, would create additional departments and Ministries specifically for these groups.
What is the major aim(s) of the Social Reform Party of New Brunswick?
Our major aim is to bring the people of New Brunswick together. At present, there is way too much division. This division causes frustration, and hampers any positive possibilities. When you have a Province of people working togther because all of the various interest groups are properly represented, you get higher levels of productivity. In any work place, it is known that happiness equals productivity. Why should things be any different in New Brunswick?

Proceedings Findings: External Reform Legislation Select ASEAN Countries Korea, Taiwan and Nepal Disadvantages of External Legislation The laws and regulations governing political parties, political finance, and elections are critical in framing the context within which parties operate. A main component of the research process, therefore, involved scrutinizing these various legislative measures and interviewing political parties about the impact of legislative reforms on party activities and conduct. The researchers collected all relevant documents from each country, such as the constitution, the political party law/regulations, the electoral law/regulations, and the political finance law/regulations. Special consideration was given to: The regulations regarding party registration and operations and the responsibilities of the government body empowered with oversight and enforcement functions;

Chair of the Independence Party of Minnesota As America stands on the eve of war, a press conference to protest the reduction in the political contribution refund (PCR) program might seem like a trivial matter. It is not.
Too many people today feel as though their voice is not being heard and instead the voices of moneyed interests are. The consequences are real and they are significant. And they are ultimately detrimental to the long term interests of participatory democracy.
From the decision to place nuclear storage on the headwaters of the Mississippi for the next 60 years, to the Pawlenty administration's refusal to consider gasoline as a revenue source to fund transportation, to the outrageous example of an insurance company having a fine reduced $1.5 million because of a $15,000 political contribution (a 100-fold return on their "investment"), the voices of Minnesota citizens are being drowned out by the likes of Excel Energy (and their 30-plus lobbyists), the Freedom Club and the American Banker's Insurance Company.
The reason these examples are so important is because in each case the citizens of Minnesota are being forced to accept either outrageous risks (in the case of nuclear storage), unacceptable costs (in the case of increased traffic congestion), or are being out-and-out ripped off, as is the case of the American Banker's fine being cut right after they made a political contribution.

    16. CALD-NDI : POLITICAL PARTY STRATEGIES TO COMBAT CORRUPTION
within. The positive effects of internal party reform go beyond strengtheningthe political party system and competition in a country.
    http://www.cald.org/website/ndiconclusions.htm
The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) and The Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats (CALD) Political Party Strategies to Combat Corruption Workshop EXECUTIVE SUMMARY TABLE OF CONTENTS Executive Summary Photo Album ... Proceedings Conclusion : Next Steps If parties are recognized as part of the problem of political corruption in Asia, they must also be recognized as part of the solution and can no longer be excluded from anti-corruption discourse. Moreover, NDI and CALD have learned through this program that parties in Asia are homes to many reformers and democrats who want to see good government prevail, and several parties have taken steps to root out the scourge of corruption within. It is a critical time to encourage and support these efforts. Although external legislation regulating parties, elections, and political finance is one approach to attempt to reform party practices, significant change will also have to come from within. The positive effects of internal party reform go beyond strengthening the political party system and competition in a country. Party practices and conduct can influence the behavior and operating procedures of a country’s leaders and legislators, as most of them started their careers in the party system. Anti-corruption indoctrination at the party level has national repercussions by helping build political will for and reinforce national reforms.
