Pennsylvania Records
First settled by Dutch traders, Pennsylvania was chartered to William Penn in 1681. During the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, many important and prominent families established themselves in the colony. Following is a collection of genealogical records beginning with these early families and including biographical sketches of family members, vital records of births, marriages, and deaths, and accomplishments of the family as a whole. For researchers of early Pennsylvania ancestors, this can be a source of detailed and helpful information. Pennsylvania, 1681-1740 Over 300,000 Records from Berks County, Pennsylvania Allentown, Pennsylvania, 1920 Pennsylvania and the Lower Counties of Delaware, 1681-1740 ... IMMIGRANTS IN PENNSYLVANIA, 1727-76
This database contains some 30,000 names of German, Swiss, Dutch, French, and other immigrants in Pennsylvania from the years 1727 to 1776. It includes the names of the ships, when they sailed, and their date of arrival in Philadelphia. The database is arranged chronologically and contains some historical and biographical notes, as well as a list of over 1,000 German and French names in New York prior to 1712. This work was written in both English and German (Deutsch) and is laid out such that the English appears first with the German translation right below it. Source Information: Ancestry.com. Genealogy, History, Agencies and More Don't pass by the scads of info on the net about PA genealogy! It's easy to think it is not in your search league, but look again: Many sites offer you county specific info, have message boards and mailing lists, and allow you to do surname queries (last name look-ups). Many pages also offer legwork in a given area, some free, some for a fee. Most people in the genealogy sector have been very helpful to adoption searches and understand that it's tough to do your family tree with sealed records. Depending on the info you have, you could find some really good sources here. On and Off-Site Sources PA County Youth Agencies (check here if the adoption was "through the county")

    Pennsylvania Genealogy
The first Europeans settled in Pennsylvania in the mid-1600s. In 1681 King Charles II of England granted the land to William Penn, who, along with other Quakers, found a religious refuge there. During the early 1700s, immigrants from Wales, Germany and Ireland moved in and over the next thirty years or so the borders were finally clearly defined. In 1787 Pennsylvania became the second state to ratify the constitution, and the nation's capital was in Philadelphia until 1800. In the early 1800s, steamboats and railroads made for easier movement of people and goods into and out of Pennsylvania. The state gave up many of its men as Union soldiers during the Civil War.
