HOME, please http://www.wwnet.fi/users/veijone/ One picture tells more than a thousand words. It is an expression in Finland. Yksi kuva kertoo enemmän kuin tuhat sanaa. Se on eräs sanonta Suomessa. Olympialaisten tunnuksessa viisi ympyrää symbolisoimassa viittä maanosaa Logo

Pariisi 1900: 1900.jpg estejuoksu St. Louis 1904: kuulantyöntäjä Ralph Rose, USA v.1904 18-vuotiaana voittotulos 14,81.
Lontoo 1908: Keihäässä A. Salovaara, Suomi 45,89, neljäs (ote keskeltä. vapaassa tyylissä ei suomalaismenestystä). Verner Järvinen - Kallen, Matin ja Akilleen isä pronssia antiikkisessa kiekonheitossa.

Realizing that not everyone has Olympic pins to trade and with the rise of shopping on the internet, we have added a shopping cart to allow you to safely and securely purchase pins using your credit card. With the Athens 2004 games coming in just days, Athens 2004 Pins are sure to be popular. These pins often sell out fast so check back periodically for new releases. Latest news - Anti Gravity Flying Machines to Revolutionise Transport Valerie Hewitt's The great English novelist Charles Dickens began A Tale of Two Cities with the words "It was the best of times and it was the worst of times" in describing the French Revolution, a seminal event towards the end of the 18th century which is still influencing the modern world.
The invasion of Iraq in March 2003 looks likely to be a similar turning point in international affairs. To many the world seems to be turning helplessly in a continuing maelstrom of conflict, terror, fear and uncertainty created by the events of September 11, 2001.
But that maelstrom is a decade older than the first year of the new millennium. The fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, following the collapse of communism in eastern Europe created a huge political vacuum and changed the world order for ever, though it took years for many people to catch up with what was happening. September 11 and subsequent events brought those changes to the notice of many people for the first time. The truth is that after the fall of the Soviet Union, America moved into an unprecedented position - that of sole global superpower. All of us have to deal with that reality, not least Americans.
However, there is a wider question. How will the world change after the war? How has it changed already?

TORINO 2006 The scope and role of Schlumberger at TORINO 2006 Olympic Winter Games is similar to that in Salt Lake City 2002. Even at this early date, planning has already begun, with the transfer of a core team of people who worked on the Salt Lake City games. Events like the Olympics require years of careful advance planning. Preliminary activities have already started for the development of the Master Plan, which is closely coordinated with the Torino Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games (TORINO 2006). As in ATHENS 2004, a knowledge management approach is being taken that allows the lessons and best practices acquired in Salt Lake City 2002 to be effectively transferred to what will be a mostly new team of people. This process brings real benefit to the IOC and the Torino Organizing Committee as it decreases the 'learning curve' while allowing a new host group to leverage what was learned in the most recent Olympic Winter Games.
