    Master of Arts in Day School Teacher Education
    Scheduled to begin the summer of 2004, in partnership with master's level programs in general education in the New York aread, this program is designed to meet the need for qualified Jewish education teachers in the growing day school movement. Students will complete a Judaic and Hebrew core curriculum at HUC-JIR. The Jewish and general education courses will be offered both at HUC-JIR and at partner schools of education.     C urrent Functions The State Education Department is responsible for general supervision of all educational institutions in the State, for operating certain educational and cultural institutions, and for certifying teachers and certifying or licensing practitioners of thirty-eight professions.
