Government in New Brunswick View our presentation on New Brunswick major industries Who is the Premier?
Bernard Lord
Premier, President of the Executive Council, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, Minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation, Minister responsible for eNB and Minister responsible for the Youth Council of New Brunswick.
As New Brunswick's 30th premier, Bernard Lord has a vision of a prosperous province that offers New Brunswickers more opportunities by changing the way in which government works. It is a vision that embraces who we are as a province, builds on our strengths, and allows New Brunswick to reach its full potential as a competitive, compassionate province. On June 7, 1999, Bernard Lord led his party to the greatest Progressive Conservative victory in New Brunswick history, sweeping 44 of the province's 55 seats and becoming, at the age of 33, the province's youngest elected premier. Barely two years later, he led his party to victory in three by-elections, increasing his party's seats to 47. Since the general election, Bernard Lord has led a government focused on the following priorities: changing the way government works, renewing health care, building new job opportunities, investing in education, managing smarter, and lowering taxes.
