Design: The community design group, staff and architects worked on schematic design, design development, and preparation of construction documents throughout 2001. Bids: The contract was awarded to Cubit Construction of Rogue River, Oregon. Groundbreaking: January 2002 Rogue River "Rugbreaking" Ceremony, Friday, January 25, 2002 Project Completed: January, 2003. return to top Design Rogue River Branch Library Floorplan The library design incorporates two different types of space. The staff work rooms, community meeting room and restrooms are physically "walled off" for functionality, noise control, and privacy. The rest of the library uses shelving, seating and table placement to create a sense of specific library spaces, while maximizing flexibility for expansion and reconfiguration as library usage changes. The circulation desk is centrally and strategically located to provide optimum patron contact and supervision. Seating is provided at tables, computers, and in comfortable lounge chairs. There are a total of 22 computer workstations, with 10 designated for public use. The flexible design of the library allows for easy installation of additional workstations as funding allows and library usage requires.
