Investment contacts Spanish Survival Course (Lesson 1 of 4) by Infocostarica Staff Costa Rica is a great place to learn Spanish, because Ticos have a clear pronunciation and they don't speak as fast as other Latin Americans. There are numerous language schools in Costa Rica, which vary in price, emphasis and location (urban or rural); however, even if you don't want to attend one of these institutions, you should still know the basics. Most middle and upper class Ticos speak English, but you never know when you'll be in a situation when you'll need to communicate with someone who doesn't speak your language. To hear the pronunciation of any word in Spanish bring up our Spanish Pronouncing Robot by clicking here Pronunciation in Spanish, as it is in other languages is very straightforward, and it doesn't vary like in English (in English you pronounce the "a" differently in "bat" than in "bake", for example). Basic pronunciation is extremely important because it can alter the meaning of the words or it can make your message totally incomprehensible. The basic sounds that you must learn are the vowels:

EU-LAC Cultural Forum - SPEECH/02/208 Madrid, 16 May 2002 - Check against delivery The European Union and Latin America enjoy a long-standing tradition of exchange in higher education. For many years, students from every corner of Latin America had been coming to study at universities and institutes in Europe, while European students had been making the reverse trip across the Atlantic. This type of educational and cultural exchange is a crucial aspect of the whole EU-Latin America relations. Links between our education sectors help to strengthen our common cultural heritage and encourage the creation of long-term contacts between young people from both our regions. However, recently, the number of Latin American students and young professionals coming to Europe to take postgraduate degrees or pursue further training had been in decline.
