    24. Iowa State Transfer Credit Policies
Will the credit transfer? If I am transferring from another Regent university,do I still need to complete general education requirements at iowa State?
    http://www.iastate.edu/~adm_info/transfer-policies.html
Transfer Credit Policies What credit will transfer to Iowa State? Does my grade point average transfer? How are my transfer credits evaluated? How many credits may I transfer? ... Is it possible to receive credit for training programs completed through my work? What credit will transfer to Iowa State? Your courses from regionally accredited institutions will normally transfer to Iowa State if they are comparable to courses offered for academic credit here or would earn academic credit if we offered them. In general, college-level courses in which passing grades have been earned are acceptable for transfer to the university; some departments may require at least a "C" grade for a specific course to be applied to the degree program. Credit earned at colleges and universities that have become candidates for accreditation by a regional association is acceptable for transfer in a manner similar to that from regionally accredited colleges and universities if the credit is applicable to the bachelor's degree at Iowa State. In determining the acceptability of transfer credit from colleges which are not regionally accredited, acceptance practices indicated in the current issue of Transfer Credit Practices of Designated Educational Institutions, published by the American Association of the Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) will be used as a guide. The acceptance and use of transfer credit are subject to limitations in accordance with the educational policies of Iowa State University.

Instructors (Adjunct): Blanshan, Duffy, Mazzitelli Undergraduate Study For undergraduate curriculum in business, major in accounting, see College of Business, Curricula. The primary purpose of accounting is to provide relevant information to both internal users (management) and external users such as investors, creditors, government, and the general public. Accounting is an integral part of the management of business and public organizations. Accountants, therefore, participate in planning, evaluating, and controlling the activities of the firm. Accounting is needed by external users in order to make investment decisions, grant or withhold credit, and, in the case of government, to collect revenue and gather statistical information. In order to provide useful information, accountants collect, analyze, synthesize, and report data in an understandable manner. The instructional objective of the Accounting Program is to provide a well-rounded professional education in accounting. Such an education should provide the student with: (1) a mastery of basic accounting concepts; (2) an ability to think critically and creatively about accounting problems; (3) an ability to communicate effectively and work with others as a member of a team; (4) an awareness and sensitivity for dealing with ethical concerns.

Departments are reviewed on a five-year cycle. During the spring semester of the year of the review, departments will receive materials from the General Education Curriculum Committee (GECC), including an outline for review materials. The review materials are due early in fall semester. Reviews are usually completed before the end of fall semester. Ordinarily, the General Education Curriculum Committee reviews courses for initial General Education Approval during Spring Semester. The committee prefers not to consider a new course until it has been taught at least once. General Education approved courses should ideally be taught every semester or every year; courses that are not offered at least once every two years are not suitable for General Education. General guidelines for new submissions are below; for more information or for questions, please contact joann-castagna@uiowa.edu

    http://www.nursing.uiowa.edu/students/faq.htm
Frequently Asked Questions What are my chances of getting into the College of Nursing? Admission to the College of Nursing is competitive. Students must have completed, or be in the process of completing all pre-requisite courses and must have a minimum cumulative GPA of a 2.5 or higher to be considered. Meeting these requirements does not guarantee admission to the College. The admissions committee selects the best-qualified applicants from all candidates. An average of 75 students are admitted to study each fall and spring semester. The number and quality of the applicants determine competitiveness of the applicant pool. Does taking my pre-requisite courses at Iowa help my chances of getting into the College of Nursing? Where you take your pre-requisites has no affect upon your admission to the College of Nursing. The important thing is that the pre-requisites are met and they are met with good grades! Do I have to maintain a certain GPA while in the College of Nursing?

Credit for prior education and experience
The RN-BSN Program recognizes the diverse educational and experiential backgrounds of nurses returning to school. The College of Nursing awards 32 s.h. credit for prior nursing education and experience, as well as 32 s.h. credit for prerequisite competencies achieved through the associate degree or diploma curriculum. One year nursing major
Following completion of prerequisite, supporting and general education coursework, the RN to BSN Nursing Major can be completed in a calendar year of full-time study. Courses begin in the summer session and complete the following May. One-day per week schedule
The nursing major has been designed so that nursing major class lectures, small group work, and other learning activities requiring students' attendance are held on one day of the week. The schedule is published well in advance, providing students time to plan for this commitment of time and intensity. Full-time or part-time options
Although students are encouraged to complete the nursing major in one calendar year, the program can be scheduled over two years or longer to meet individual situations and needs.
