You'll find thousands of online guides and tutorials on the Web One of the problemsoften faced when using the internet for research is the number of sites

News and Information Guides and Tutorials Original Materials Government Resources ... Site Sampler You'll find thousands of online guides and tutorials on the Web covering everything from castles to the Oregon Trail! These sites can serve as introductions to units of study for your students, jumping off points for research, and self-guided explorations.
Build a Reference Self – Look for 3-5 quality sites as reference points for units of study. Finding sites before the start of a unit can save time and point students in the right direction. One of the problems often faced when using the Internet for research is the number of sites available. Students can be easily overwhelmed if left to their own devices. Directing students to appropriate sites can save time and can reduce the risk of students inadvertently stumbling across inappropriate sites. This is especially critical in the elementary grades. Guided Exploration - Create a recording system to introduce students to a site. This could be a worksheet, a webquest, a writing activity, a reporting activity, or an evaluation activity. The key is to hold the student accountable in some form for finding and using information found at the site.

Welcome to Nuthin' but Links
It ain't reel original. It ain't reel purty. In fact, there ain't Nuthin' but Links here. So why do it? Well... because it can be pretty damned difficult to find what you're looking for on the web (even when using the search engines), and I'm always on the lookout for web page creation and internet/computer related information and resources. In doing so, I've built up a pretty large bookmark file of all the sites I've found that I feel offer either good information, usefulness, entertainment, and/or links to more good stuff. So, that’s all we have here .... my bookmarks file with links to sites I find informative, useful, and entertaining; with brief comments about what you’re likely to find at each site I’ve listed. You’ll find extensive links to HTML guides and tutorials (plus a little bit of my own) and places where you can find graphics (icons, bars, backgrounds, etc.) for use on your pages. You’ll also find links to many other goodies, like Winsock applications and tools, shareware, VRML, Java, and a whole bunch more. As my interests change, so will these pages, and you'll see different topics come and go. I use them all the time; I hope you’ll find them informative and useful enough that you will too.
