Through the use of artifacts, documents, and historic illustrations, children learn firsthand about the past and changes over time in daily life, domestic technology, community life, government, and ethnic and racial groups. Post-visit materials continue the learning process back in the classroom. All of the programs at the Read House help students develop the History standards skills of chronology, interpretation

The College and its campuses are fully accredited by the Commission on Higher Education, Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. In addition, several curricula have earned program-based accreditation by various professional organizations.
BRIEF HISTORY
The studies and reports of the original board were used to create the Southern Campus which opened in September 1967, near Georgetown in Sussex County, with 367 students enrolled. The name was changed to the Jack F. Owens Campus in May 1995. A temporary Northern Campus opened in New Castle County in 1968. The Northern location was replaced by two campuses Stanton in the fall of 1973 and Wilmington in the spring of 1974. The Terry Campus opened in 1972 north of the City of Dover.
The President's Office, located adjacent to the Terry Campus, functions as a central office by providing a variety of services in support of the campuses. Delaware Tech's enrollment has grown dramatically in recent years. Students of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life have benefited from the training and education that is provided. It is estimated that one-fourth of Delaware's population has taken courses at Delaware Tech during its short history.

Connecticut:
Connecticut's State Board of Education adopted a state policy on School, Family, Community Partnerships on August 7, 1997 based on the National PTA's National Standards for Parent/Family Involvement Programs. Connecticut's General Assembly passed a law in 1997 (Public Act 97-290) which was intended to foster meaningful partnerships among schools, families, and communities to enhance student learning. It stated that ALL local and regional boards of education were required to develop, adopt, and implement written policies and procedures to encourage parent-teacher communication by September 1, 1998. The Connecticut Department of Education along with community partners including the Connecticut PTA, put together a packet to help local boards of ed comply with the law. The packet contained a sample policy, the six standards in detail, an overview of the law, and procedures and agreements that had been developed in school districts around the country, as models for communities to use. This policy and law impact 1,068 public schools including 645 elementary, 163 junior HS/middle schools, 163 high schools, and 17 vocational/technical schools, serving 545,619 public school students.

Arad-Tamar - New Jersey-Delaware NEWS
IN TROUBLED TIMES, DELEGATION KEEPS DATE FOR ARAD MEETING
by Michael S. Arnold, Special to N.J. Jewish News
The meetings were routine, but that's precisely what gave them special significance. In the midst of the violence that has racked Israel and the Palestinian territories for the last month, and which has prompted thousands of Jews to cancel trips to Israel, the fact that members of the Central New Jersey Partnership 2000 Steering Committee came for annual budgeting meetings with their Israeli counterparts was seen in Arad and the Tamar region, which are linked to NJ-DEL cluster under the Jewish Agency's Partnership 2000 program, as a tremendous vote of support. "What we're saying is that life is continuing," said Stanley Stone, executive vice president of the Jewish Federation of Central New Jersey. "Not to come at this time...would have sent the wrong message. We're here to spread the word that there is normalcy and that people should come." While far from the violence that has engulfed the Palestinian areas and Arab communities in the Galilee, Arad and Tamar suffer from the same general dejection that has settled over the rest of the country. Over and over again in meetings with the American group, Israeli officials stressed that they are disillusioned by the violence and the realization that there apparently is no Palestinian partner for peace, the cornerstone of the Oslo process that over the last seven years has attempted to build Israeli-Palestinian rapprochement.
