    Criminology
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Criminology is a sub-field of sociology dealing with matters related to crime and criminal behavior. It includes fields such as crime statistics criminal psychology forensic science law enforcement , and detective methods. This is an area where caution is warranted; if one is comparing, e.g., violent crimes between nations, one must be careful that the actions counted in that category are similar for each nation; otherwise the comparison is meaningless. Criminology has, over time, developed several

Critical Criminology is a welcome addition to American Criminology. It offers to transcend the narrow, analytic and individualistic orientation of textbooks and research papers in criminology found in the USA. Instead, Critical Criminology presents a much wider, much more varied and much more sociological treatment of the sources and dynamics of behaviors defined as harmful to those who control and/or benefit from control and punishment ideologies. The Introductory Chapter gives a valuable treatment of critical criminology; its roots in the 1960's; its location of property crime in
