PawSense
catproof your computer
When cats walk or climb on your keyboard, they can enter random commands and data, damage your files, and even crash your computer. This can happen whether you are near the computer or have suddenly been called away from it. PawSense is a software utility that helps protect your computer from cats. It quickly detects and blocks cat typing, and also helps train your cat to stay off the computer keyboard.
  • Every time your computer boots up, Paw Sense will automatically start up in the background to watch over your computer system.
  • Even while you use your other software, PawSense constantly monitors keyboard activity. PawSense analyzes keypress timings and combinations to distinguish cat typing from human typing. PawSense normally recognizes a cat on the keyboard within one or two pawsteps.
  • If a cat gets on the keyboard, PawSense makes a

New computer games teach keyboard shortcuts Sure, keyboard shortcuts save time. But who has the time to learn them? For $60, those who take "the long way" can play two new computer games geared to teach shortcuts. "Key Commando: The Key To Killer Production" and "Monster Commands: The Key To Killer Productivity" have just been released by AdOut's Jeff Turner. Key Commando teaches skills in Adobe Illustrator 7 and 8, Adobe PhotoShop 4 and 5, Quark XPress 3 and 4, Multi-Ad Creator 4.0, Multi-Ad Creator2, Mac OS 8.5 and Windows 98. Monster Commands teaches skills in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Windows 98. Both games are cross-platform, supporting Windows and Mac operating systems. In both games, a player's mission is to perform the requested shortcut function as quickly as possible. The first levels teach basic program commands and as the game progresses, requests become more complicated and response time shrinks. An incorrect response results in a display of the correct key command. A practice area allows players to fine-tune their skills before they begin the game.

Posted on Sun, Mar. 16, 2003 Computer/piano combo helps teach
Creative Technology Ltd.'s Prodikeys combination computer and piano keyboard strikes the right notes: It's fun, useful, educational and - most important - affordable. The $99 package includes not only the combo keyboard that plugs into the PC but also a sound card and software that can turn any novice into a performer - even if it's by hitting a series of piano keys that trigger preset melodies, rhythms and special effects. Beyond the preset stuff, Prodikeys attempts to teach musical skills. In one module, a treble staff is displayed along with a keyboard graphic. A mark indicates which key should be pressed on the keyboard. Success - or near success - is greeted with applause. The bass staff was not displayed, making it impossible to learn more complicated music. Besides the "Impress" and "Learn" modules, Prodikeys offers "Easy Play" and "Perform," making it useful to musical novices as well as those who already know how to play but may not have the room for a separate keyboard.

Using Current Technology to Teach Keyboard Ensemble Literature Pauline Riddle, William Jewell College Introduction Expanding the Curriculum to Incorporate Technology Performer by Mark of the Unicorn, is introduced at WJC during the first semester. Using the Performer software, each instrumental part is sequenced on a separate track. Band-in-a-Box , a MIDI-based "music minus one" program, is another very effective program that helps with improvisational practice. Because of its "user friendly" simplicity, this software program is an excellent choice for an abbreviated time such as the Winterim period at WJC. Music Prose -by Coda Music Technology, is introduced. With Music Prose , three choices of data entry (Simple, Speedy, and Hyperscribe) are available. It is an effective program for printing the score and also for extracting individual parts. This program enables the student to print out improvisations, thus making it possible to analyze their work. Data sequenced with the Performer software can also be saved in a Standard MIDI File and then transferred to Music Prose for printing.

Much like many type writers the keyboard has all the letters of the alphabet, numbers - 9 and additional special operational keys. CARPAL TUNNEL INFORMATION Carpal Tunnel is an inflammatory disorder that affects the carpal (wrist) part of a specific nerve. Repetitive stress, physical trauma, certain diseases, or specific hereditary conditions can inflame the sheaths that surround wrist tendons. With the swelling of small blood vessels, pressure increases on the nerve and disrupts its functioning; numbness, pain, and a loss of manual dexterity result. Treatment can vary from Splinting the wrist, drugs and in severe cases surgery. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome may occur as a user does repetitive motion on his or her keyboard. There have been several methods to help prevent this from happening. One of the most common way in preventing this is purchasing a Natural Style keyboard. This type of keyboard allows the hands to be in a more suitable position. These keyboards can be purchased from any computer retailer. It is recommended you test the keyboard before purchasing it. The keyboard can be difficult to use for some users. The following is an example of such a keyboard.
