About NCDC
NCDC is the world's largest active archive of weather data. NCDC produces numerous climate publications and responds to data requests from all over the world. NCDC operates the World Data Center for Meteorology which is collocated at NCDC in Asheville, North Carolina, and the World Data Center for Paleoclimatolgy which is located in Boulder, Colorado. NCDC supports a three tier national climate services support program - the partners include: NCDC, Regional Climate Centers , and State Climatologists The National Virtual Data System (NVDS) uses the NOAA Server metadata search engine to find and access NOAA data from all NOAA Data Centers.

Branch Research: Aerosols Analysis Clouds Modeling ... Remote Sensing About our organization and its mission The Climate and Radiation Branch at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center supports a key NASA mission, namely, to understand and protect our home planet. We seek a better understanding of Earth's climate on all time scales, from daily, seasonal and interannual variability through changes on geologic time scales. Our research focuses on atmospheric measurement, numerical modeling, and climate analysis. We investigate atmospheric radiation, both as a driver for climate change and as a tool for the remote sensing of Earth's atmosphere and surface. The Branch research program seeks to better understand how our planet reached its present state, and how it may respond to future drivers, both natural and anthropogenic. 9. Global Climate Coalition Is The Voice Of Business And Industry On Global Warming
Lobby group formed in 1989 to provide a voice for industry and in particular the oil industry - in the debate on climate change and global warming. Seeks to discredit human-induced climate change theories and argue against CO2 reduction.
    http://www.globalclimate.org/
The Global Climate Coalition has been deactivated.  The industry voice on climate change has served its purpose by contributing to a new national approach to global warming.
The Bush administration will soon announce a climate policy that is expected to rely on the development of new technologies to reduce greenhouse emissions, a concept strongly supported by the GCC.
The coalition also opposed Senate ratification of the Kyoto Protocol that would assign such stringent targets for lowering greenhouse gas emissions that economic growth in the U. S. would be severely hampered and energy prices for consumers would skyrocket. The GCC also opposed the treaty because it does not require the largest developing countries to make cuts in their emissions.
At this point, both Congress and the Administration agree that the U.S. should not accept the mandatory cuts in emissions required by the protocol.  NEWS

Hadley Centre for Climate Prediction and Research
The Hadley Centre for climate prediction and research, which is part of the Met Office, provides a focus in the United Kingdom for the scientific issues associated with climate change. The main aims of the Hadley Centre are:
    • To understand physical, chemical and biological processes within the climate system and develop state-of-the-art climate models which represent them; To use climate models to simulate global and regional climate variability and change over the last 100 years and to predict changes over the next 100 years; To monitor global and natural climate variability and change; To attribute recent changes in climate to specific factors; To understand, with the aim of predicting, the national interannual to decadal variability of climate.
It currently employs around 100 staff and uses two Cray T3E supercomputers. Most of its funding comes from contracts with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), other United Kingdom Government departments and the European commission.

In addition, the CPC issues extended range outlook maps for 6-10 and 8-14 days as well as several special outlooks, such as degree day, drought and soil moisture, and a forecast for daily ultraviolet (UV) radiation index. Many of the outlook maps have an accompanying technical discussion. The CPC's outlook and forecast products complement the short range weather forecasts issued by other components of the National Weather Service (e.g. local Weather Forecast Offices, and National Centers for Environmental Prediction). These weather and climate products comprise the National Weather Service's Suite of Forecast Products.
    • Monthly to Seasonal Climate Outlooks
The CPC issues maps showing the probabilities of temperature, precipitation and sea surface temperatures (SSTs) deviation from normal for the next month and three month periods. These outlooks are issued from 2 weeks to 13 months in advance, for the lower 48 states and Hawaii and other Pacific Islands. In addition, seasonal climate outlooks show average temperature (degrees Fahrenheit) and precipitation (inches) for the lower 48 states by climate regions, and
