Polymer clay crafts for Kids. Clay Star Ornament Craft
http://www.daniellesplace.com/html/clay_crafts.html
Welcome to Danielle's Place! You will find hundreds of inexpensive crafts and activities for
children. Many of the crafts and activities on this site are Bible-based and are great to use in
Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, preschool, and home school
Polymer Clay Crafts for Kids Clay Star Ornament Craft What you will need: Gold Sculpey III clay, rolling pin, star cookie cutter, beads, and pretty buttons What to do:
1. Roll out the clay very thin, about 1/4” thick.
2. Use a star cookie cutter to cut out the shapes. I used a pen cap and hole punch to punch out holes in the stars (This technique would work really well with a snowflake cookie cutter also.)
3. Press beads and buttons into the clay to make patterns. (I cut the backs off of my buttons with some wire cutters) (You can find inexpensive buttons at used stores on old clothing. Look for sales where you can fill a bag for a dollar and just fill the bag with clothes that have pretty buttons.)
4. I cooked the clay according to the directions on the package with the beads in the clay. The buttons and bead did not melt. (Be very careful when doing this! Keep an eye on your ornaments and only cook them in a well ventilated room.) If you don’t want to take the chance of melting the bead or buttons you can take them out before cooking the stars and then glue them in when they are cooled.

Jinzo: Clay crafts - statues, masks and pottery
In Bhutan clay statues are considered to have a greater significance than those of bronze or other metals as the entire production process involves great ceremony. The earth and water of which they consist come from many parts of the country and have received the blessings of many high lamas past and present. stupa , and the bottom is carved to resemble a vajra. The column is divided into several sections. The first is the head, the second the neck, the third the heart, and the fourth the navel. On each section holy scriptures (zung) are written in gold paint. At the third section, near the heart, an ancient statue, that has been blessed by many great lamas, is placed. Once the sogshing has been completed, it is blessed by a lama in a special ceremony. Only now the structure is ready for the first layer of clay, which is a sticky mass that has been produced by mixing it with Daphne bark.

In former times, next to religious objects, a lot of objects for home use were also produced. Nowadays, however, this branch is dying out as cheap plastic and aluminium goods are imported mainly from India. These are usually cheaper, and also more durable.

Flower Block Quilted Kitty Pin! This is one of my new "quilted" clay designs. I make the entire piece out of polymer clay! Each pin is made up of between 30 or so pieces of clay. I cut them all by hand then "stitch" the pieces to gether. This kitty is made out of "flower quilt blocks" which are created using the millefiori technique. The kitty measures a little more than 1.5 inches high by 1 inch wide and is very light! It has black seed bead eyes. Each pin takes me a few hours to finish. I will only be able to make a limited number of pins in this design. Back to Dana's
