Although season tickets for IU basketball are hard to come by (thanks to three NCAA titles in Men's Basketball), there are plenty of opportunities to see other Big Ten sports action. Hoosier teams have won NCAA titles in swimming/diving, cross country, outdoor track and field, wrestling, and women's tennis. In 2000, IU Men's Soccer is looking to win its third straight NCAA crown! We're a community of champions. IU athletes have won more than 125 NCAA individual championship titles; 105 IU athletes have been Olympic athletes; and IU coaches have participated in 11 Olympiads. We're also on track to exceed gender equity standards. IU is phasing in new varsity women's sports that will make IU the first Big Ten university, and one of the first major universities in the nation, to reach a 50-50 proportion between men's and women's sports.

Leadership, originality, and ingenuity are necessary qualities for a career in sports management. Our sports management program is designed for students who desire a career in the business of sport. By combining the areas of physical education, business, and communications, graduates are prepared for graduate school, law school, and the "real world." At Valparaiso University, sports management majors must complete a liberal arts business minor, but many students choose to double major in both PE and Business. Sometimes students combine their sports management degree with a minor in a field in which they are interested, such as communications, pre-law, and psychology. Just about anything is possible!

Most athletes spend hours in hard practices every day. They also spend additional hours viewing films, critiquing their own performances and techniques and scouting their opponents tendencies and weaknesses. Some athletes may also be advised by strength trainers in an effort to gain muscle and stamina, while also preventing injury
