Ngatiranginui. I am from Ngunguru, a small coastal town east of Whangarei in Northland. Currently, I am working on the Landonline project with EDS (NZ) Ltd and Land Information New Zealand as a GIS (Geographical Information Systems) operator. This involves the conversion of land information from paper to computer format. Last year I graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Physical Geography for which I received a Faculty of Science Centennial Scholarship. I enjoyed mentoring for Awhina for two years while at university and this year I look forward to continuing my support for Maori and Pacific Nations science students as a career mentor. Information Architect/Copywriter Does maneuvering through the lousy design and archaic site architecture found on the average Web site make you crazy Do you deconstruct the menu's labeling metaphor at dinner and debate whether it should be "Information Design" or "Information Architecture" with random passers-by? Are you one of those people that enjoyed diagramming sentences in grade school? As Information Architect/copywriter, you'll be a valued member of the hesketh.com team. You will design and develop information architectures for Internet, intranet, and extranet Web sites as well as write and refine copy. You will also collaborate with the visual design team to ensure the vision of the IA isn't lost when the make-up is applied. Our work is integrated, focused, and cross-platform and cross-browser compatible. We look for those same characteristics in our team members. That requires people who possess an interest beyond the project level and want to work on the Web as a career. hesketh.com team members must be able to toggle between being self-motivated and working on a team. The ideal candidate will have strong organization and logic skills. They will be detail oriented with a broad understanding of the Web. They will have two or more years of hands-on IA and copywriting experience (preferably agency work) and an impressive, diverse portfolio, preferably online.
