All breeds - All disciplines
Cheylee Farms is a family run operation breeding Canadian Pinto Horses, some American Paints and also some horses without spots.
The name came from the first registered horse born on the farm. This filly was out of a mare called Lidie Lee and by a stallion named Cheyenne Paclo. These horses were Appaloosas. The filly was orphaned and the family was educated quickly about goat's milk, spoiled foals and short sleeps. "Cheylee" just stuck on us.
Although Bruce and Marilyn feel they are the "Head Haunchos", daughter Jane and her husband Darryl are very active in the farming operation. The whole family has been involved in many performance disciplines such as Western and English pleasure, Dressage, Hunter, Jumper, Eventing, Reining, Driving and yes even Gymkana. Sidesaddle and Saddleseat have been ridden also.
Bruce is training horses under saddle and in harness, for show or pleasure. He has judged many open shows over the past 3 years and also does clinics for starting young horses.
Although our main concentration is on Canadian Pinto Horses, we do have a number of Quarter Horse, Paint and Thoroughbred horses. We are often requested to find a horse for a particular purpose or person and although we'd like the horse to have spots, they are not always available, so we do go on the hunt quite often for horses to meet a particular need.

Welcome here!
Why odds and ends you might ask? Well, this site is basically about the odds and ends of my life. It is not geared totally to any one subject. I couldn't decide what I wanted to make a site on, so it has kind of taken a life on of it's own, a kind of hodge podge of things...odds and ends of this and that. I hope that you enjoy your stay here and please sign my guestbook so that I know that you've been here! I would love to return the visit.

By Devin D. O'Leary Dateline: Germany Shop owners in Berlin have gone to exotic lengths lately to circumvent Germany's restrictive laws requiring stores to close on Sundays. Last weekend, for example, the department store chain Kaufhof got permission to hold a "block party" in central Berlin's Alexanderplatz square thereby enabling the store and surrounding businesses to legally open on Sunday. While a single clown and a handful of street vendors languished in the park, thousands of eager shoppers took the opportunity to crowd the department store. Earlier this month, shops in East Berlin slathered everything from ironing boards to glassware in souvenir stickers allowing them to make use of a state ruling permitting shops in tourist areas to open on Sundays. Religious groups and some unions remain vehemently opposed to Sunday shopping.
Dateline: Canada
More than 100 Chinese migrants who crossed the Pacific ocean and endured nearly 60 days in the cramped hold of a fishing trawler to seek better economic conditions are now facing extradition from Canada although the dog who accompanied them on their journey has been welcomed with open arms. The dog is apparently in good shape after spending nearly two months at sea, and officials with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty believe the "well-mannered" canine will have little trouble finding a Canadian home. In contrast, the arrival of the dog's Asian masters has prompted heated calls for toughening Canada's law against illegal immigration.

Although the glass referred to was probably graduated for about three or five minutes a half-hour glass was used aboard ship until 1857 to mark the passage of time. The ship's bell was struck at the time of turning the glass, a custom instituted in the 13th century. Records indicate that tobacco was introduced in the navy in 1798, mostly for chewing, although we read that in later years informal meetings of a smoking circle about a smoking lantern were held on the upper deck in fine weather, at other times in the galley. The U.S. Navy refers to this smoking lantern in lieu of our stand easy and out pipes. Mention has been made elsewhere of the silver chain and boatswain's call now worn in lieu of a lanyard by men of the quartermaster branch. A silver whistle and chain have also played a part in military as well as naval command. For some centuries this item of regalia has been part of the military bandolier, now rarely seen except in ceremonial parades of historic regiments.

Jack Raso, MS,RD, exposes Nature's Sunshine subterfuge of practicing medicine and pharmacy without licensing as they employ invalid methods of assessment such as "applied kinesiology" and iridology to diagnose and prescribe herbal products for various diseases and conditions. Practitioners are taught to ostensibly evade the law by "teaching" rather than diagnosing. Raso's article, "The shady business of Nature's Sunshine," appeared in the May/June, 1992 Nutrition Forum. Dateline: Trinidad
Investigating a farmer's complaint that someone had stolen his livestock, puzzled police on the Caribbean island of Trinidad uncovered a collection of well-dressed animals. Police gave chase in Chaguanas in central Trinidad after spotting a rental vehicle with its headlights off. The driver abandoned the vehicle, and officers found a sheep in a dress, a goat in a shirt, pants and hat, and two more goats also in shirts and pants in the trunk. Police believe the thief had dressed the animals to fool people into thinking they were humans.
Dateline: Rhode Island The son of famed American-basher Nikita Khrushchev has applied to become an American citizen. Sergei Khrushchev, son of the late Soviet leader, has been teaching International Studies at Brown University in Providence, R.I., for several years. The 63-year-old scholar and his wife are scheduled to take a written test at the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service offices in Providence on June 23. "It is not so special or a political decision any longer," Sergei Khrushchev told reporters. At the height of the Cold War, the incendiary senior Khrushchev warned the United States, "We will bury you" and boasted that his country's rockets could hit a fly over the United States.
Dateline: New Jersey A firefighter was forced to give up his four Bruce Springsteen tickets after using his uniform to cut to the front of the line. Tickets for a series of concerts in The Boss' home state went on sale last week and have sold out quickly. Fans were alarmed, then, when a firetruck pulled up outside a Ticketmaster location in Newark, N.J., and disgorged several firefighters. Concerned ticket hopefuls asked what was going on and were informed that the firefighters needed to perform a fire inspection. While inside, one of the firefighters apparently purchased a block of four concert tickets. Angry fans complained, and the firefighter had his Springsteen privileges revoked.

Weekly Alibi odds ends Dateline CanadaAs billionaires continue to fail in theirroundthe-world ballooning attempts, an errant canadian weather balloon
http://weeklywire.com/ww/09-14-98/alibi_facts.html
By Devin D. O'Leary Dateline: Canada As billionaires continue to fail in their round-the-world ballooning attempts, an errant Canadian weather balloon appears unstoppable in its bid. Early last week, the unmanned 26-story balloon survived attempts by the Canadian Air Force to shoot it down. Two fighters pumped more than 1,000 rounds into the wayward balloon, but failed to bring it down over Nova Scotia. Badly off course and lacking a warning transponder, the balloon drifted all week in the North Atlantic, causing rerouting of commercial air traffic. By the weekend, the weather balloon was in Russian air space.
Dateline: Thailand The Auditor General of economically depressed Thailand discovered a long-forgotten 16-year-old bank account at the U.S. Federal Reserve containing more than a third of a billion dollars. No word yet on what the cash-strapped nation will do with the $367 million windfall. New furniture in the Auditor General's office seems likely, though.
Dateline: Ivory Coast Colonel Pascal Gbeh, 49, of Africa's Ivory Coast Army was killed while testing a "magic belt" supposedly endowed with the power to protect him from bullets, so long as he abstained from sex while wearing it. Gbeh apparently donned the belt and handed his service pistol to the son of the belt's maker to try it out. The young man shot Gbeh, who died instantly. Obviously, the Ivory Coast Army will not be adopting the "magic belt" anytime soon.
Dateline: Libya In what could be the least impressive award presentation in the world, Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi awarded Cuban dictator Fidel Castro his 1998 human rights prize. The award, named in honor of Gadhafi himself, was given in appreciation of Castro's "history of struggle."
