Instruction in English: Discrimination: Teacher Certification: Curriculum: Special Education: Health: Safety: et seq. Transportation: State subsidized transportation for children attending parochial schools is proper under the California Constitution in view of the broad police powers of the state to promote educational welfare and safety of the children. Bowker v. Baker, 167 P.2d 256 (1946). Public Aid for Private Schools/Private School Students: The California Constitution prohibits the appropriation of public money for the support of sectarian or denominational schools or any other school not under the exclusive control of the officers of the public schools. Cal. Const. Art. IX. Section 8. In addition, Art. XVI. Section 5. prohibits any public support for a school controlled by any religious creed, church, or sectarian denomination, including any grant of personal property or real estate. The lending of textbooks, without charge, to students attending nonprofit, nonpublic schools violates the California Constitution prohibiting appropriations for the support of sectarian schools.

Credit Through Military Training
The mobile lifestyles of American servicemembers makes it difficult for them to complete a college degree. The two largest obstacles servicemembers have to face is time and location. With distance learning, you choose the place and you set the pace. For this very reason many servicemembers stationed in places like Okinawa and Egypt turn to CCHS to help them meet their educational needs. After Evaluation of your transcripts, California College may grant credit for those military service schools which have been evaluated by the Office on Educational Credit and Credentials of the American Council on Education.
California College is a Member Of SOC
Servicemembers' Opportunity Colleges (SOC) was established in 1972 to overcome geographical and institutional obstacles. The mobile lifestyles of American servicemembers makes it difficult for them to complete a college degree. SOC serves a need by acting as a liaison between servicemembers and educational institutions like California College. Obstacles in obtaining college degrees are minimized, making it easier for servicemembers to transfer credits to California College, as well as other colleges and Universities.
CCHS is also Affiliated with DANTES
Because California College is nationally accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council, tuition Assistance is available to all Active Duty, Active Guard/Reserve, and military and civilian personnel of the Army National Guard, through the Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES) which qualifies active duty military personnel for tuition reimbursement.

State agency heads told to cut employee salaries budgets by 10 percent
All state agency directors have been told by Gov. Gray Davis’ administration to make plans to cut their budgets for employee salaries by 10 percent. In a letter sent out this week by Finance Director Steve Peace and Marty Morgenstern, director of the Department of Personnel Administration, agency heads were told the administration hopes to save $855 million by renegotiating employee labor contracts. Gary Delsohn in the Sacramento Bee SARS Orange County health officials announced the first cases of SARS Wednesday in two people who recently traveled separately to China, bringing the state total to 31. Neither is very ill, said Dr. Hildy Myers, medical director of assessment and epidemiology for the Orange County Health Care Agency, but they have been asked to stay at home until 10 days after their symptoms disappear to ensure they don't spread the disease. Jeff Gottlieb in the Los Angeles Times Mayrav Saar in the Orange County Register Airline crews want to wear protective gear on China routes Flight attendants demanded the right to wear surgical masks on China flights Wednesday to protect against the mysterious illness known as SARS.
