ADDRESS AT WELLESLEY COLLEGE'S
122ND COMMENCEMENT EXERCISES
WELLESLEY, Mass.
Senior Class Dean Pamela Daniels will address the Class of 2000 the class she helped steward through three of its four years at Wellesley at the College's 122nd Commencement exercises May 26. In keeping with tradition, the senior class officers announced the selection of the speaker to their classmates before the choice was made public. "It is a great honor and a great responsibility. It is something to live up to," Daniels said of giving the address. "I am looking forward to it very much." Daniels graduated from Wellesley in 1959, receiving her degree with honors in political science. She was a Durant Scholar and had been elected Phi Beta Kappa. After a year of study and travel in India and Southeast Asia, Daniels went on to earn an M.A. in political science from Harvard University in 1963. From 1962-70, she was a teaching fellow at Harvard, first in the Government Department and then in Erik Erikson's undergraduate social science course on the human life cycle. Before becoming a Class Dean in 1981, Daniels was a Research Associate at the Center for Research on Women for five years; in 1979-80, she was a Lecturer in the Department of Psychology. In 1983 and '84, she taught a course on the life cycle in the Writing Program. She is co-editor of a feminist anthology of personal essays on work and women's identity titled "Working It Out" (Pantheon, 1977) and co-authored a book on family and career timing patterns, "Sooner or Later: The Timing of Parenthood in Adult Lives" (Norton, 1982).

Pamela Hammers Specht, Interim Dean
Pamella Hammers Specht, was Interim Dean for seven months during 1992. She had been associate dean with Larry Trussell. Thus, she was conversant with many aspect of a dean's duties. Rather than take time to hire another associate dean, she sought help from among the faculty. Obtaining such assistance enabled her to continue the college's momentum achieved during Dean Trussell's administration.
One of Dean Specht's strengths was writing grant proposals to obtain additional resources for the college. She also sought funding to insure that new faculty members were provided facilities necessary to carry out their teaching, research, and service responsibilities. Special effort was directed to insure that each faculty office was equipped with a PC with access to the software needed to fulfill their many responsibilities.

Dr. Pamela Lewis Dr. Pamela Lewis, Dean, LeBow College of Business Dean Pamela Lewis has distinguished herself as a visionary in applying technology to business disciplines. Since coming to Drexel, Dean Lewis has launched a nationally-recognized iniative in Enterprise Resource Planning, the region's first E-commerce Center (the Safeguard Scientific Center for Electronic Commerce Management), and the nation's first Techno-MBA Online. "I consider it a great honor to participate in this high tech 'summit' of Drexel alumni who have succeeded in dynamic high tech fields by applying the principles taught at Drexel. The variety of disciplines represented demonstrates that there is no single course of study required to achieve distinction in high tech industries. The greatest benefit to the audience will likely be discovering elements of each panelist's experiences that can be applied developing their own success in high tech or other fields. I am also very excited that this event will be widely available through the live Web-cast hosted by the Dragon's Inner Circle, and encourage members of the University community and others to visit www.drexel.edu/ia/insidescoop to view the panel discussion if they are unable to attend.
