Lovely book, Great Read For Kids!
This is a very pretty book, a simple tale of the Buddha's real, historical life, taken from traditional sources. This would be a great book to read for the kids!

Master piece about the Life of Gautama Buddha
I call this gem of a book "Master piece" not because of it's scholastic value, but because of the way it so beautifully captures the essence of Buddhism and it's founder Gautama Shakyamuni. Reading though the book, even for a person who have no prior knowledge of Buddhism will get the essence of its teachings as though you are there besides Buddha himself. It covers his life from birth to nirvana with some reference to stories in Jataka - a prebirth stories about how Buddha became what he is. The stories are told in not dry textual way but in lively way as if you are there yourself. I would rate this book high for introduction to Buddhism. It is still a treasured book in my library after being a Buddhist for over 30 years. ... Read more

The libretto was written by Anne-Honoré-Joseph Duveyrier de Mélésville. The overture to the opera is one of Hérold's most famous works and is a staple of orchestral repertoire. Zampa was first performed in Paris on May 3, 1831 at the Opéra-Comique (Salle Ventadour), where it became popular, achieving 500 performances by 1877. In the 20th century however, it faded from the repertoire. It was also popular in Germany and Italy, in the latter the spoken dialogue was replaced by recitatives. The opera was revived at the Opéra-Comique in March 2008 under William Christie in a production by Macha Makeïeff and Jérôme Deschamps. The young Count of Monza, having dissipated the family fortune and seduced then deserted Alice Manfredi, went off to sea to become a pirate. He adopted the name Zampa. The ballet was originally produced and choreographed by the Ballet Master, Jean Dauberval, to a musical pastiche adapted from fifty-five popular French airs by an unknown hand. The ballet was first presented under the title Le ballet de la paille, ou Il nest quun pas du mal au bien (The Ballet of Straw, or There is Only One Step from Bad to Good) at the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux, in Bordeaux, France on Wednesday, July 1, 1789. One of the oldest and most important works in the modern ballet repertory, La fille mal gardée has been kept alive, throughout its long and complex performance history, by way of many revivals, for well over two centuries.
