As a result of such commissions, numerous resolutions have been created to give women the freedoms they deserve. Resolutions A/51/555 and A/39/17 are just a sample of the many resolutions regarding women's rights. However, to bring the nations with disenfranchised women that the enfranchisement of women is what is needed, more action must be taken. Possible Solutions: The nations which refuse to grant women the right to vote have stood their ground since their creation, so it would take an extraordinary compromise to change the nation's policy. As these nations tend to be developing nations, economic incentives will be useful in swaying their stance. Do not place sanctions or attempt to overthrow these nation's government as only the Security Council has the power to do so and do not suggest that the Security Council heed your request for bloodshed is not the purpose of the United Nations. The key problem here is to negotiate. A very skilled diplomat should be able to get these nations to compromise their beliefs for something else. Bloc Positions: Middle East and other Disenfranchised Nations: These nations tend to be the ones who do not recognize a woman's right to vote and thus they will not be very sympathetic to the West's pleas. These countries have clung to their beliefs for centuries and are not willing to surrender them.

    Extractions: The government was trying to make things fair for all people when they wrote the Constitution in 1787 but sometimes they weren't fair to groups of people, for they didn't give all groups a say in the government. Women were one group who had no voice in the government until 1920. In the fight for womens suffrage, women were trying to establish justice for themselves and make things fair for all women. The Constitution was supposed to make things equal but women didn't have the right to vote. Men got paid more even for the same work and they would get custody over children if there was a divorce. Women would have never got the right to vote if they had never stood up for themselves. They picketed in front of the White House, they had long meetings and The fight to get the right to vote had three main stages; it started at Seneca Falls where the Declaration of Sentiments was written in 1848. Then women started to campaign for suffrage in each state. Finally they shifted tactics, they focused their efforts on pushing Congress to pass the 19th Amendment. Between all these steps, women had to go through a lot to get the right to vote.

Anthony's Quaker upbringing greatly influenced the role she played in nineteenth-century America. Quakers, properly known as the Religious Society of Friends, arose as a religious group in the mid-seventeenth century in England. They founded their religion on the belief that priests and places of organized worship are not necessary for a person to experience God. They feel there is an "inner light" inside everyone that can guide them to divine truth. Quakers do not believe in armed conflict or slavery, and they were among the first groups to practice full equality between men and women. Other American women did not experience the freedom and respect Anthony did while growing up. She worked to change that disparity, by becoming a leader in the crusade for women's rights. Born in 1820 in a New England farmhouse, Anthony was the daughter of Lucy Read Anthony and Daniel Anthony, a cotton-mill owner. Her father instilled in his children the ideas of self-reliance, self-discipline, and self-worth. Since Quakers stressed a moral life, both her parents were strong supporters of the abolitionist (antislavery) and the temperance (avoidance of alcohol) movements. They also believed in the importance of work, and Anthony performed many tasks in her father's factory while attending school. After having completed her schooling at the age of 17, Anthony began teaching in schools in rural New York state. Because it was regarded as similar to motherhood, teaching was one of the few professions open to women at the time. It allowed them to establish their own identities by gaining economic independence. However, teaching wages for men and women differed greatly. Anthony's weekly salary was equal to one-fifth of that received by her male colleagues. When she protested this inequality, she lost her job. She then secured a better position as principal of the Girls' Department of the Canajoharie Academy in Rochester, New York.

Although women had voted in Wyoming since 1869 and in Utah since 1870, New Zealand was the first nation state in the world to allow women to vote. The issue of women's suffrage was forced into prominence in New Zealand by the Women's Christian Temperance Union, led by Kate Sheppard. Sheppard (born in 1848) was one of the first female cyclists and a firm believer in equality of status in marriage. As head of the Temperance Union she proved to be a persistent and determined campaigner for women's political emancipation. Sheppard's efforts were aided by the politician Sir John Hall, who advocated feminist views in parliament, and provided support and astute advice to the Temperance Union. The Temperance movement used articles published in the press, pamphlets, public meetings, and petitions to publicise their cause.
