Abundance through Reiki
Like most people, I often find myself fantasizing about the life I'd like to live. I wish I had... I'd like to ... Sometimes, during moments of clarity, I even decide to make a change and go after what I want. I set goals and I work really hard to achieve or gain what I want.

Still, the process always feels like I am swimming through thick mud, like some unknown obstacle is constantly holding me back. Lately, I've come to realize that usually the only thing in my way is myself. Now I see that it is me that decides that before I even take the first step that I will fail, that I'm not worthy, or that the achievement is beyond my abilities. In essence, I set myself up to fail and don't even consciously realize what I am doing.

Abundance through Reiki is a 42 day program that shows the reader how to explore those destructive hidden beliefs, release them, and then learn healthier more loving ways to enhance all aspects of your life. It is an absolutely amazing system to explore your beliefs while giving you real tools that you can use in everyday life. I definitely see a real difference in my outlook on life since reading this book and starting to steadily working through the program.

The system is fairly straite forward in concept but is quite complicated in application.

My experiance in spiritual practice has taught me that the more complicated (externaly encumbered) a practice is, the slower the return is in realising its potential or real benifit & I am not one who requires instant gratification.

IMHO, the usefull content of this publication can be presented in 4-5 pages - without all of the opinions or retotic. KISS works!

This book is great
This book is really not about Reiki specifically. It's more like John Randolph Price's book (The Abundance Book). Daily exercises are given which relate to each chakra of the body. These are repeated for 21 days and then you switch to affirmations for 21 days. While I don't do as well with affirmations, I found the first half of the book to be fabulous. The sections where you talk about or write about your feelings in areas corresponding to the 7 chakras was powerful for me. You begin to understand yourself and envision yourself transcending your old limitations.

Essentially what happens is that you are asked to meditate on a theme and talk it out (preferably out loud though I did occassionally write it out when I was not in a position to do the exercises aloud). So you'll talk about wisdom or money and tell yourself all the reasons why you don't or can't have it. Then you shift your energy by talking about why you want it and how you want it. When you get out all of your negative thoughts in this way, it makes it easier for your mind to relax when you are going into the positive things. You can actually allow yourself to visualize or declare what you want without some inner voice issuing a challenge because all of your doubts and fears have already been aired out.

You can combine this with Reiki if you are a practitioner, but you don't have to be a Reiki practitioner to use the book. Though it is called Abundance through Reiki, it does not focus on the symbols or hand positions but focuses on the idea of Reiki as a universal force which we tap into when we are drawing abundance into our lives.

If you are looking for a book which gives you a step by step reiki treatment with symbols or hand positions, this isn't it. You'd probably do better to check out a book by Walter Lubeck, Frank Arjava Petter or the like. While I haven't seen them write a specific abundance technique, they have techniques for clearing negative thought patterns, for emotional healing, and for general manifesting which can easily be applied to the issue of Abundance and Prosperity. These books will give you thoroughly detailed (albeit sometimes very complicated) techniques to follow.

A breakthrough way to use Reiki to change your life...
This book is excellent. It is very specific: a book to teach you how to use Reiki to change your core beliefs about abundance and lack. It is NOT a book designed to teach you about Reiki itself. Reiki cannot be learned froma book (Diane Stein's teachings notwithstanding, see my Amazon.com reviewof her book.) It IS a book to teach those who are already Reikipractitioners to use Reiki to change their lives.

All too many of uscarry negative beliefs about money and our right to abundance. Many of uswere taught that money is "bad", that only those who are notspiritual will have abundance. What nonsense! Spirit wishes us to live lifewith abundance, it is our birthright (see Lee Carroll's Kryon books formore info on this topic.) Horan's book provides a step-by-step programwhich, if followed, will disolve blockages in your life and allow thenatural abundance of the universe to flow through it.

I followed theprogram, and the changes in my life were amazing. Not overnight, butsubstantial nonetheless. The most important part was the change in mymental attitude, and how my life flowed from that. If you are already aReiki practitioner who wants to change their life, buy this book! If you'reinterested in learning more about Reiki, find a good Master/Teacher in yourarea and seek training from them. A teacher is vital, you cannot learn italone. But once learned, the changes in your life will astound you! I havebeen praticing Reiki since 1994, and have been a traditionally trainedMaster/Teacher since 1998. Excellent book on Abundance!
In my opinion, this book is a must have for all reiki practitioners (and actually all energy workers as well), and is written in such a way that non reiki people can get huge benefit from it.Even the "feel" ofthe energy of this book is wonderful and lush. I think this also would bean excellent book for people to do in a study group together. Disappointing: Lots of words, no techniques, few facts
Imagine a cookbook that lists the dishes, but not the ingredients, the amounts used, or how to prepare the dishes.The author extols the virtues of each dish, but that's all the reader gets to find out--because these are SECRET recipes.

That's a good description of what we have with Reiki Jin Kei Do by Steve Gooch.

In a book that purports to be about a new, or at least different, branch of Reiki, little can be found about this new, or at least different, branch of Reiki.The author doesn't mislead on this.Within the first few pages, he comes right out and says it:"You will not find any of the specific methods or techniques of the lineage describe in here, nor will you see the Reiki symbols."

And he's true to his word.You can read the book from cover to cover and not know a single thing about this lineage, except that it's different and that it's somehow more "spiritual" and "compassionate" than other lineages.

There are some meditation techniques discussed, but these particular ones can be found in almost any book that discusses meditation.There is a teacher's directory.There are some brand spanking new Reiki "histories" making lots and lots of claims with nothing to back them up.There are also far too many dismissals of what many in the Reiki community know to be true: the miracle of distant healing and attunements.

The notion (hinted at over and over in these pages) that only this particular branch of Reiki delves into the spiritual and compassionate aspects of Reiki is baffling.Where has the author been over the last few years?Mars?Most, if not all, branches are based on strong spiritual concepts.Those who begin the Reiki journey for self-healing will almost always find that they are healing--and growing--spiritually as well.When it comes to compassion, Reiki IS compassion.Reiki spirituality is alive and well almost everywhere Reiki is practiced, if the author would only take off his blinders and see.No lineage has a lock on spirituality and compassion.

If you want to learn more about Reiki spirituality, don't bother with this book.Instead, pick up almost anything by Walter Lubeck, who has immersed himself in the spiritual aspects of Reiki for years, or find a copy of Karyn Mitchell's "Reiki Mystery School"--among many other books that will actually teach you the practices, not just vaguely allude to them.

Like another reviewer here, I would give this one less than one star if I could.The writing is fine, but the author rambles on without really saying much.Next time Gooch writes a book, I hope he doesn't waste my my time as he did with this one.I don't buy a book about new or different practices just so I can read empty prose--I want to learn what those practices are.

YES!!!!!FINALLY!!!!!!SOMEONE WHO UNDERSTANDS!!!!!
So many people and so many schools of Reiki focus exclusively on using Reiki solely as a means of healing others.While this is a wonderful part of the whole, Reiki is more than that.It is a powerful vehicle of personal and spiritual growth.It is through this growth that we develop both the Compassion and Wisdom to truly help others - whether it is in the channeling of energy to promote healing or, more importantly, in lending a hand to help another along the Path.

Steve's personal journey of spiritual growth through Reiki is an inspiration and worthy to be followed.He is a true teacher who has obviously walked his talk.

The only book on Reiki worthy of your time
I have been practicing and teaching Reiki for over 10 years. With the publication of "Reiki Jin Kei Do: The Way of Compassion and Wisdom", Inow have a book that I can happily and unequivocably recommend to my students, clients, and others interested in learning about this unique lineage of Reiki. Steve's book is comprehensive, well researched, well written, and accurate. It has integrity, providing a grounded and balanced perspective on the topic of spirituality and healing. Great Reiki book!
This book provides thorough exploration of a rare lineage of Usui Reiki.I am already recommending this book to students in my Reiki classes!

Not another "new" Reiki history without authentication!
I would give *less than 1 star if possible*

The statements made in this book about a "new" history of Reiki have not been authenticated in any way.

Reiki people should not accept "new" Reiki histories without some factual background and, sadly, there are no facts to back up the story told in this book. Should it just be accepted as truth because someone says it is? I don't think so.

You would have thought we'd learnt our lesson and people would be more careful as to what they print as the "truth", especially after the Lama Yeshe (also known as Richard Blackwell) experience. To explain further:Richard Blackwell wrote a book with a "new" history of Reiki and it turned out to be completely made-up and the result was great confusion and disillusionment. Curiously, an ex-student of Lama Yeshe's is even quoted in this book and the teachers of the author were all teachers of Lama Yeshe's material.

This book highlights serious flaws in the concept of Jin Kei Do, apart from its general lack of clarity (the accepted Reiki history is pretty mashed up as well).

A major problem is that this book lays claim to two histories:
A relatively accepted history of Reiki taken from other Reiki books and Reiki websites called Part I.
And a second history, Part II, that begins to interweave, what I would only call fiction (as it is totally without verification), with the known history of Reiki. This "new" Reiki history has conveniently been fitted into conventional Reiki history. Here, names of people from Buddha down and their supposed practices and actions, along with the land Tibet, are described as influencing a part of the founder of Reiki's practices. These practices were then secretly passed down and have made there way to a man in Australia who purports this is all true.

Another major problem is: Not one of the Japanese people mentioned in the accepted history of Reiki like Hayashi, Eguchi, the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai, Mrs Yamaguchi, Tatsumi and even Mrs Takata taught the chakra system. Yet Jin Kei Do appears to be based upon chakras. Chakras were a new age addition to Reiki and there is absolutely no record of them being used prior to Mrs Takata's death - how come then Jin Kei do uses chakras? I would guess because Jin Kei Do was actually created in the 1980s.

The book also states that a character named Seiji Takemori had to study for more then 3 years with someone called Takeuchi to learn this system. How, then, did the man who lives in Australia, Ranga Premaratna, only manage to study for about 25 days with Seiji Takemori to learn the whole system? The number of 25 is pulled from a Jin Kei Do website although it is called a "relatively short period of time" in the book.

And finally this book goes so far as to lay claim to a similarity between its practices and the highest yoga tantra AND even earlier Hindu yogic practices! A Buddhist of Yogic Master would find it odd, to say the least, that a person could learn all of that in 25 days!!!

This book is not a Reiki book even though it uses Reiki to base its claims on. It includes a bit of this, a bit of that and a lot of fiction - not good for a non-fiction book!

Loved this book
I loved this book of course you have a master give you the initiations. The book has a lot of wonderfulexercises that are meditations.
The author tells of her journey and is faithful to the traditional Reiki telling both the old story of Dr Usui and some of the new story.
Keeping with tradition the symbols are not printed but there is ample explainations of the use and transference of the symbols.
This bookis worth having and I am glad that I bought it. It would be a good book to give to students when they receive the first degree. There is so much info for a small book.

Must Read for ALL Reiki Healers
Before finding Steve I was a Reiki II Practitioner and spent $300 on that training.I was seriously considering paying the $500 to become a Reiki Master when I came upon Steve's DVD's on netflix.I am now a Reiki Master through Steve's Reiki Master DVD and have recently begun teaching Reiki Classes.It's been one of the most amazing experiences of my life.I have a master's degree in education and am a former schoolteacher and absolutely LOVE Steve's work and his simple, straightforward presentation style.My students love his books and the Dvd's provide excellent reinforcement in the classes I teach.As we move into the 21st Century I believe it's crucial to spread this work as far and as wide and as QUICKLY as we can. It's a shame if this amazing healing technique has been kept from anyone because of the cost of classes.Raising the consciousness of this planet should be everyone's priority and learning Reiki is one way we can effect a massive shift for many.My blessings go out to Steve for being a true maverick in this field and letting spirit lead him.

Very Informative
Whether you are new to Reiki or a Master, this is a very informative read. It expels a lot of nonsense that is being propagated on the subject. I am taking my Reiki Master Instructor course right now, and I will be referring students to this book.

Great read
Steve Murray's approach to Reiki and healing is excellent.Steve believes that everyone can benefit from Reiki and his materials show you why. His books are easy to understand and excellent to keep on hand for reference and/or when you need a bit of a refresher.
He provides great information on not only the basics, but also provides information that helps you really understand. He keeps it simple and real.
Steve Murray is a big part of my healing library.

Reiki false Beliefs Exposed for all Misinformation Kept Secret by a Few Revealed
I didn't get much out of this book, perhaps I knew more than I thought. Not a big book I read it in under an hour, most disappointed.

Steve's set of books and the two DVD's that go along with his Reiki Master program are invaluable for the Reiki Practitioner. The Reiki Master Attunement DVD gave me a true attunement, enhancing my healing abilities. Steve's books, Reiki the Ultimate Guide, Ultimate Guide Vol 2, Ultimate Guide Vol 3, Ultimate Guide Vol 4, and Reiki Beliefs Exposed For All are fabulous and filled with a wealth of information. new learning experience
I thought I knew all about Reiki however this books made me enthusiastic all over again. Using fresh ideas and simple logic the authors put their heart into it. Whether you are new to Reiki or just using this a a refresher I highly recommend you keep a copy in your Reiki library. I refer to "Your Reiki Treatment" on a regular basis. Thank you.

Provides a Grounded, Practical, and Realistic View of Reiki
I found it very useful for a potential client. As a practioner, I found it even more useful for practioners. (I wish they taught in my area.)

Over the past several years of being exposed to Western style training, I was truly left feeling very empty and directionless. In many ways, I feel that the past several months of reading Bronwen's and Fran's books have begun to help refocus me. This latest book is VERY grounding, practical, realistic and helps describe what the client could expect. This is also good for the practioner...and what they can expect. In many ways, I feel that the Western style of training has different expectations, which in the past had left me directionless.

Initially, I thought the book was going to be about the classical "what a client can expect at a session".What I found though was that the book contained a lot of early Japanese Reiki wisdom that help tremendously to reshape my view of Reiki in a more healthy way.
The original tradition of Reiki has so much to offer...most of which that has gotten lost through time.

A well organized, thought provoking treatment of Reiki
This author assigns the inner child the responsibility of accepting anddistributing Reiki, whereas, others have assigned these tasks to the higherself.Until this conflict is resolved I will believe this version, as itis convencing.In "a tip from Shamanistic healing" (p43), Reikiis combined with herbs in a manner similar to the method described in KryonBook 3 (p147), "Healing Tools" (In the new energy).Alsointeresting, item 5 (p13) addresses the use of a combination of holisticsystems with Reiki, a process which Kryon Book 3 (p144) calls " amelding of the sciences", which can increase your healing powerthreefold.I appreciate the organization of this book, especially theidentification of the type of Reiki being used as either level I or LevelII, the figure with the positions on the facing page of the description ofthe special position,the seven Laws of Reiki, the 12 rules of Reili withfood, 5 ways to determine special positions,and how to use Level II tobring the inner child and/or the higher self into the healing process. Lovely deck and a great idea!
I'm only giving this 4 stars because I would have liked to see a bit more artwork, but the idea behind the cards and the ease of using them is what is really important, not how pretty the picture is.I was at a point where I was not using reiki as often as I should, and these helped to kick-start my practice again.

What a wonderful tool!
A beautiful and well thought out tool for everyone! This card deck is not just for those who practice Reiki, they can be used by anyone wanting find balance in life.

The deck is wonderfully illustrated and each exercise is simple and easy to follow, the explanations are clear and so far I am finding the exercises highly beneficial!

For those who do practice Reiki the deck is an ideal tool for forming a routine that is varied and interesting, you could pick one card a day to add to your energy work or maybe one card and work on the tool for a week and see what develops. Reiki shares would benefit from this, maybe everyone could pick a seperate card and work on it then tell the group how they found the exercise or the group could all work on the same card together. For teachers, maybe you could give a student the choice to pick a card and work on it until you meet up at your next class where they could tell you how they found it.

As you can see the deck has numerous uses and that has to be one of its best elements, you can use the tools in as many different was as you can think up!

Lets just hope that Frans and Bronwen Stiene keep researching on behalf of the reiki community and continue to provide us with the high standard of books and tools that we are used to seeing from them.......eagerly awaiting the next!

A wonderful tool for self healing
This card deck and booklet are a wonderful tool for self healing and spiritual development. They can be used by people who are learning Reiki, people who are teaching Reiki and also people who have had no Reiki training at all.

The booklet gives very clear thoughts on how the cards can be used by someone who wants to work energetically and spiritually on themselves.

There are 45 cards and they cover a wide range of well chosen and clearly explained techniques including simple meditations, hand healing and practices to help us work with the energy that all living things have.

They are designed to be chosen one at once - this is the intuition bit - and then the chosen card is worked with for a number of days.

For someone learning Reiki these cards could be used as a valuable tool to strengthen their energy work and connection, giving confidence and adding breadth and depth to their practice.

For someone teaching Reiki they are a great resource for Reiki Shares. Group work where the students each pick a card to work with is fun. Each of the techniques can be tried by the group. Then each student can work with the technique they have chosen until the next meeting. This causes a lot of sharing and discussion about all sorts of Reiki and spirituality related topics. It also gives the students a solid practice in between meetings.

For someone who has not taken a Reiki class the cards can be used to start exploring self healing and this can progress at their own pace. Working with these cards before a class would give the student an excellent grounding to base their Reiki study on.

Reiki Cards......a must for the dedicated practitioner
I had to check this out....just received my deck 3 or 4 days ago......was a bit skeptical and scared, at first....To be honest, my first thought was...OMG's--not a Reiki Tarot........

My deepest apologies to Frans and Bronwen, but with todays "Fast Food Approach and Commercializtion of Reiki"......I was affraid you had sold-out or gone crazy.....lol.....I am sure you understand......

But true to Frans and Bronwen's love of Reiki, and the techniques that have somehow fallen away from most teachings of Reiki, and keeping it true to its origins...... the cards are a wonderful educational tool for ones self improvement a clear and easy to understand self-meditation, healing, clearing and cleansing techniques. Although it is still advisable to study, or take classes when available, to gain a fuller understand of the techniques and the spiritual aspects.

As true leaders and educators in Reiki, they have seperated the Traditional and Non-Traditional (new age inspired) techniques.

Nice Pictures & Healing Info, but distorts what Reiki is
This book has a beautiful cover and lots of useful pictures inside.It also offers information about complementary forms of natural healing and Reiki healing techniques for specific conditions or organs.However, it is focused on maintaining exclusivity for Reiki healers and relies on the Takata/Samdahl stories and lineage, which distort the universality of Reiki healing.Reiki healing is a set of practices for connecting to and transmitting high frequency spiritual/subtle energy, and is not exclusive to any particular Reiki organization or lineage.A Reiki student can develop or NOT develop power and skill as a healer regardless of who taught them.I would make an analogy to establishment education, where people go to colleges and follow a curriculum, and upon completing their coursework some become very skillful and gifted at a profession while others don't.Meanwhile, many people have been quite gifted and accomplished in a field solely through self-education and effort, or innate talent.Expensive and lengthy Reiki courses may garner a higher frequency of commitment (within those taking the course), but they do this by discouraging some people who would otherwise pursue this healing path.There seems to be a fear that quickie Reiki courses will minimize the Reiki profession/art, rather than an appreciation for the spread of interest and availability for basic Reiki training, which benefits many people.

Reiki - its history and power
Reiki: Hawayo Takata's Story is a simple, beautiful explanation of what Reiki is, the history behind it and the power of its healing abilities.Clients generally experience deep relaxation, may even fall asleep and notice the heat eminating from the giver's hands.I recommend this book to anyone interested in a clear explanation and personal experience the help their understanding of what may happen in a session.Reiki is non invasive, is done fully clothed, can be done with someone sitting in a chair and can be done long distance.It is by far the most powerful tool I have learned in my massage career.And I can do it without the physical issues that sometimes arise from other massage, i.e. shoulder issues, hand problems.

REIKI is one of the most ancient healing methods known to mankind.
It originiated in Tibet and was rediscovered in the nineteenth century by a Japanese monk named Dr. Mikao Usui.
The tradition of Reiki is referred to in 2500-year-old writings in Sanskrit, the ancient Indian language.

Hawayo Takata was the very first non- Japanese person to be permitted to learn and practice Reiki. So, Reiki teachings to non-Japanese Reiki students proceded from her. Hence, her teachings are of the highest importance.

She demonstrated that she became a simple, childlike, MERE CHANNEL for Reiki Energy (otherwise known as: Universal-Life-Energy, Chi, Prana, God Force, etc.) - rather than an Engineer/Scientist who learned to control/manipulate that Universal-Life-Energy by force of will.

Great Book From Which to Teach
I have been teaching several classes of Reiki each year for the past 10 years.
When I took Reiki my teacher told us after Reiki I we should read this book before Reiki II. None of us did.
After Reiki II, he said we should read this book before Reiki Master.
None of us did.(This was all pre-Amazon.com days when it was almost impossible to find unusual books.)
Finally, I got this book and read it. Oh, My Gosh!
I don't recommend it to my Reiki I students - it is part of their cost of the class! They read it between Day 1 and Day 2 so that they have a really solid understanding of Reiki immediately.
I have probably ordered close to 200 of these books and will continue to use them in my classes indefinitely!

A Lovely Book
This is a beautiful book that gives Reiki the love and respect that I believe is deserving. I am a Reiki Master Teacher in the traditional Japanese Reiki healing method and I enjoyed reading the author's views on Reiki and how she incorporates Reiki into her daily life. The author is a part of the Reiki Alliance, which is a group devoted to the original teachings of Hawayo Takata, maintaining the sacredness of the symbols, strict adherence to the time line for training, and fees that include $10,000.00 for the Master Training.

The author obviously feels passionately about Reiki Natural Healing and I resonated with her deep abiding respect for this healing system. A good book for Reiki practitioners and Masters.

Outstanding Work!
Before finding Steve I was a Reiki II Practitioner and spent $300 on that training.I was seriously considering paying the $500 to become a Reiki Master when I came upon Steve's DVD's on netflix.I am now a Reiki Master through Steve's Reiki Master DVD and have recently begun teaching Reiki Classes.It's been one of the most amazing experiences of my life.I have a master's degree in education and am a former schoolteacher and absolutely LOVE Steve's work and his simple, straightforward presentation style.My students love his books and the Dvd's provide excellent reinforcement in the classes I teach.As we move into the 21st Century I believe it's crucial to spread this work as far and as wide and as QUICKLY as we can. It's a shame if this amazing healing technique has been kept from anyone because of the cost of classes.Raising the consciousness of this planet should be everyone's priority and learning Reiki is one way we can effect a massive shift for many.My blessings go out to Steve for being a true maverick in this field and letting spirit lead him.

Great reference tool
Steve Murray's approach to Reiki and healing is excellent.Steve believes that everyone can benefit from Reiki and his materials show you why. His books are easy to understand and excellent to keep on hand for reference and/or when you need a bit of a refresher.
He provides great information on not only the basics, but also provides information that helps you really understand. He keeps it simple and real.
This Volume especially has wonderful pictorial and reference information for the healer.

Fantastic Book
Steve's set of books and the two DVD's that go along with his Reiki Master program are invaluable for the Reiki Practitioner. The Reiki Master Attunement DVD gave me a true attunement, enhancing my healing abilities. Steve's books, Reiki the Ultimate Guide, Ultimate Guide Vol 2, Ultimate Guide Vol 3, Ultimate Guide Vol 4, and Reiki Beliefs Exposed For All are fabulous and filled with a wealth of information. His DVD, A Reiki 1st, Aura and Chakra Attunement Preformed, is an excellent companion to the books demonstrating the actual processes of performing attunements. I will use this set again and again as reference along my path of Reiki healing.

New insight to Reiki!!
Since my first attunement many years ago, I have been looking for answers about reiki. Even after becoming a reiki master, the questions remained. Either due to secrecy, or they themselves just didn't know. Since I was a young boy I have always wanted to know more about becoming a healer. It seemed with every turn came a hefty price or a brick wall. How does one explain a healing procedure, when your not sure of the answers yourself. It was like having an owners manual with most of the pages missing. Needless to say my reiki practice was limited to animals and close associates. Hey...at least the animals didn't ask questions. lol. After hearing about Steve Murrays Ultimate guides and dvd's, I was skeptical. I did research and found all the wonderful things that was said about him and his reiki guides. My instincts kept telling me to go for it. To take a chance. So, in a bold endeavor for answers, I purchased all 5 volumes of Steve Murrays reiki guides. Plus, his book Reiki False Beliefs Exposed. His 1st, 2nd, and master reiki attunement dvds. Psychic and chakra attunement dvds. And his Animal Psychic Communications book. I'm here to tell you, it was one of the best investments I have ever made!! From the time I opened the first Ultimate guide. Answers came faster than I could have ever imagined. Through the straight forward and concise information in these materials, I have a renewed confidence. With the first book, I have learned more in one sitting than I had in several years of questioning. With his psychic, healing, and chakra attunements, I have actually seen profound results in a short amount of time. Steve Murrays Reiki False Beliefs Exposed was very in depth. Really cleared the air on the reality of reiki. As for his Animal Psychic Communications book. It has helped tremendously between myself and my horses, and pets. It's still dark
Mr. Yamaguchi tells his readers about his mother's experiences as a student of Capt. Hayashi and, subsequently, as a practitioner of Hayashi Reiki.To fill the volume, he provides extensive quotations from "The Hayashi Reiki Manual."Mr. Yamaguchi endeavours to explain how his own Jikiden brand Reiki differes from what he terms American Reiki.

But, if the reader is actually in search of light on the origins of Reiki, he or she will not find it between the covers of this little book.Nope, not so much as a sputtering match.

Light on the Origins of Reiki
This is an excellent and informative book dealing primarily with a specific form of Reiki with clear links to the founding Japanese Masters Mikao Usui and Chujiro Hayashi. It provides much historical and cultural information, some of which I have not seen mentioned in other books, and also provides some excellent historical photos from the early years of Reiki in Japan. What I also found particularly interesting were insights into Japanese cultural attitudes to Reiki - wonderful background information never published in previous books on Reiki. Translation from the original Japanese author's text has been accomplished accurately and sensitively. I highly recommend this book to any student of the practice. Jim Frew, Reiki Master, Australia.

Light on the Origins of Reiki: A Handbook for Practicing the Original Reiki of Usui and Hayashi
As far as I can tell this is only the 2nd book on Reiki written (or translated) by Japanese Author in English.The author has done a very good service to the Reiki Community by clearing up a lot of "wrong" information that was being passed by from Hiwayo Takata and those that followed and they did not know any better as it Ms Takata that told them her story.
This is a great book and should be read by all interested in Reiki.

Highly reccomended to all Reiki practitioners
This book is an authentic glimpse into Japanese Reiki received through Hayashi sensei as preserved by the Yamaguchi family. I highly reccomend this book for its authenticity and insight into how Reiki was practiced in Japan after Usui-sensei began to spread his teachings in a more formalized manner.

Light on the Origins of Reiki is an excellent guide to the practitioner, and it provides numerous historic photographs, explanations of the effects of Japanese culture and history on the emergence of the Reiki System, as well as many examples of the efficacy of Reiki Ryoho.

this is a valuable tool, containing a new translation and explanation of Usui's admonitions (also known as the gokai, or five principles) as well as some of Emperor Meiji's poetry, which was known to be used by Usui-sensei as a teaching tool.

Overall, practitioners of all styles and traditions of Reiki will find the heart and sincerity of this books traditional methods to enhance and complement their own.

not a lot of meat
After receiving my Reiki I attunement, I wanted very much to find a book that cleared up a few remaining questions and also to give me a more comprehensive background on Reiki. I picked up this book but soon found the "traditional" in the title to be a little misleading.

The information on Reiki's origins is very much the standard myth that was first spread by Hawayo Takata when Reiki was first taught in the United States. It has since been debunked by modern Reiki practitioners who traveled to Japan to get the real story.

Overall, I found Amy Rowland's book to contain not much more information than you'd get from your average Reiki I class. This may not mean anything regarding Ms. Rowland as a Reiki teacher, but if you're looking for a more in-depth overview of Reiki's history, practice and spirit, I would recommend "The Spirit of Reiki," by three of the foremost Western Reiki teachers. It also contains many very useful Japanese Reiki techniques.

Excellent Resource!
This book is wonderful - absolutely wonderful. I discovered Amy's book in 1999. It is what inspired me to become a Reiki Master/Teacher. I read it from cover to cover as soon as I bought it. Her down-to-Earth writing style keeps you engaged, and she easily explains Reiki, and how it can help you in your own life.

Essential for your reiki library!
Amy has done it! I am currently writing a doctoral dissertation on reiki and this is the best reiki recource book I have found! As a reiki practitioner, it is evident that her stories add depth and help paint the true picture of the art of reiki. Thank you for this wonderful reference. Transformative Research
This book is absolutely stunning piece of research. It completely transforms the english speaking world's perception of Reiki. It is a must have for all serious western practioners of Usui Reiki. We owe a great debt of gratitude to the author for his persistence and devotion to seeking the foundations of this practice.
He has bridged a deep chasm of history to reach a great teacher and show the path he actually walked versus the myths.
I felt an absolute sense of awe in reading this book.

Not much about Dr. Usui at all
I don't know why this book is being promoted as being about "The Legacy of Dr. Usui."It's really just the author's random thoughts about modern Reiki culture, interspersed with Osho quotes and random thoughts about modern pop psychology. What does this have to do with Reiki? really, I wish I hadn't wasted the money.It also includes Dr. Usui 's horoscope and numerology character-analysis.What? I don't find that to be terribly useful.I want to know more real information about the man. This did not do that. Buy another book!

Historical Background Worth Knowing
This book explains the beginnings and history of Reiki and gives examples of how to use the energy not only for healing the body, but getting rid of old guilts and fears, helping your plants grow, and much more. Such dramatic results have been seen with this method that more and more hospitals in the U.S. are having a Reiki Master on call to help in aiding the healing process of their patients. Even though the symbols are not shown, this book gives the author's tested examples of the results achieved using this universal energy that is available to all of us. I highly recommend this book.

Are you ready for the next level?
Before finding Steve I was a Reiki II Practitioner and spent $300 on that training.I was seriously considering paying the $500 to become a Reiki Master when I came upon Steve's DVD's on netflix.I am now a Reiki Master through Steve's Reiki Master DVD and have recently begun teaching Reiki Classes.It's been one of the most amazing experiences of my life.I have a master's degree in education and am a former schoolteacher and absolutely LOVE Steve's work and his simple, straightforward presentation style.My students love his books and the Dvd's provide excellent reinforcement in the classes I teach.As we move into the 21st Century I believe it's crucial to spread this work as far and as wide and as QUICKLY as we can. It's a shame if this amazing healing technique has been kept from anyone because of the cost of classes.Raising the consciousness of this planet should be everyone's priority and learning Reiki is one way we can effect a massive shift for many.My blessings go out to Steve for being a true maverick in this field and letting spirit lead him.

Steve Murray's approach to Reiki and healing is excellent.Steve believes that everyone can benefit from Reiki and his materials show you why. His books are easy to understand and excellent to keep on hand for reference and/or when you need a bit of a refresher.
He provides great information on not only the basics, but also provides information that helps you really understand. He keeps it simple and real.
Steve Murray is a big part of my healing library.

Fantastic Book
Steve's set of books and the two DVD's that go along with his Reiki Master program are invaluable for the Reiki Practitioner. The Reiki Master Attunement DVD gave me a true attunement, enhancing my healing abilities. Steve's books, Reiki the Ultimate Guide, Ultimate Guide Vol 2, Ultimate Guide Vol 3, Ultimate Guide Vol 4, and Reiki Beliefs Exposed For All are fabulous and filled with a wealth of information. His DVD, A Reiki 1st, Aura and Chakra Attunement Preformed, is an excellent companion to the books demonstrating the actual processes of performing attunements. I will use this set again and again as reference along my path of Reiki healing.

The secrets that work!!
Since my first attunement many years ago, I have been looking for answers about reiki. Even after becoming a reiki master, the questions remained. Either due to secrecy, or they themselves just didn't know. Since I was a young boy I have always wanted to know more about becoming a healer. With his psychic, healing, and chakra attunements, I have actually seen profound results in a short amount of time. Steve Murrays Reiki False Beliefs Exposed was very in depth.
