Product Description
Dear Friend,Depression is never easy whether you've just had a baby or not, life is tough on a good day. For Christians it seems even harder because we are supposed to have God on our side. Meanwhile, we are entertaining unusual thoughts and feelings. You may think you'll be fine because of your faith or support network but you may also feel like you're losing your mind at times, I know I did!Post pregnancy or post partum depression (PPD) is often suffered in silence for fear of embarrassment, shame or guilt. This may be your first pregnancy or this could be your third pregnancy. Regardless of the situation, you've got to take care of this new little gift and yet you're struggling to get through the day. Take heart! You're not alone and you are definitely NOT a failure for feeling like this! There are many causes for PPD and various levels of severity. It's different for everyone. There is help if you're willing to ask. There are prayer groups, support groups and various options from medical professionals. This publication contains the stories of how three women dealt with PPD and also includes helpful submissions from a medical doctor and a pastor. It is my hope that as you read each page you'll be encouraged.Remember that God is closer than you think even though you may not 'feel' it at the moment. In Psalm 34:18 it says, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."There Is Hope!Janice ... 5-0 out of 5 stars For the helpless sufferers of Post-Partum Depression...
This book was extremely helpful in allowing one to understand the consequences of chemical changes that occur during and after childbirth. It is both helpful to those going through PPD and those in with whoms loved ones suffer from PPD.The book offers a plethura of information and places to obtain even more help in regards to Post-Partum Depression.I don't care what Tom Cruise has to say about it....his comments regarding PPD where irresponsible and unintelligent. He has no idea what it is like to suffer from an affliction such as PPD, one which is beyond the control of the sufferer. If you need a more fruitful understanding of this disease and it's terrible affects, please, read this book. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars very significant for hurting moms
When I gave birth to my second child 33 years ago, I may have experienced postpartum depression. But I didn't know that the stress, anger, and suicidal depression had a name. I just thought I was a horrible person. Thankfully, because of Judy Dippel's valuable work, fewer women will suffer from this little-identified disease. Read and study this book to prepare yourself or to know you're not alone and there is hope. ... Read more

Description:
Researches about influence of post-partum depression on the nature of mother-infant interactions show correlations between two measurements taken to the same moment: scores of depression and the quality of the interaction. This bond of linear causality was called in question and reverses by a whole current of research being interested in the characteristics of the infant. We pose the assumption that infant temperament, especially neonatal irritability, affects mother-child relation what can contribute to the emergence of the maternal depression. At 3 days, using the scale of Brazelton, we observe neonatal irritability of 67 babies. Then, the mothers filled the Kennerley's questionnaire so that we evaluate the intensity of post-partum blues. At 2 months, we re-examined 45 dyads. To evaluate the nature of the interactive patterns, we filmed a situation of ''free play'' which was analysed according to Care-Index of Crittenden. Finally, we used EPDS to evaluate depressive mothers. Results indicate that the percentage of irritable neonate is more important in the group of depressive mothers (34%) compared to the group of the not-depressive mothers (26%). Analysis of depressive mother-babies interactions at 8 weeks point out 4 mothers out of 6 to be controlling. Interactive disengagement behaviours are more numerous in the nondepressive mothers who are characterized either by a high score of blues at 3 days, either by the score 0 to the EPDS at 2 months and which have in 50% of the cases non-irritable new-borns. s. ... Product Description
Discover the secret to beating Post Natal Depression. Follow the 10 Immediate actions that mother of 2, Shona Hicks followed to bring back the joy and happiness that she thought was lost forever.

Shona is a mother of two who suffered from a severe case of post natal depression after her second child. Not understanding her symptoms or knowing where to turn she battled alone for 6 months . Doctors sent her away with scripts for anti-depressants, but all she really wanted was an understanding of what was happening to her and a way to feel normal again.

This book explains the symptoms that Shona experienced and shares the story of how she came to understand and beat post natal depression on her own without medication. After 6 months of waiting Shona commenced a course in adjusting to baby and change, which also assisted in her recovery. The 10 exact steps that Shona followed are provided in this book and are a combination of her own methods plus methods learnt in the 9 week course that she attended.

Postnatal depression is a mood disorder that can be beaten. It is not to be feared and it is not permanent.

This book has been written in the hope that it will reach other women who are suffering from PND. Both women who are already receiving help, and others who may be hesitant to ask for help outside their own front doorstep. It has been written with first hand experience of the illness, an important aspect of the book as anyone who suffers with PND knows how alienated they can feel as well as how hard it is for anyone to understand PND unless they have been through it themselves.

The author hopes to assist her readers to achieve a fast recovery.
There is no need to feel alone . Start now and get your life back. ... Read more

AN OPEN LETTER TO RUSSELL YATESAs the husband of Andrea Yates who drowned her children “to save them from life,” I always thought it was remarkable how you hung in there in the face of that tragedy. You told us what a wonderful wife and mother she was, of her post-partum problems after each baby, so close together. We knew she had nursed them and home-schooled them. And the awful failure of medicine to help! But now you tell us you are dating, and even if she wins acquittal in her new trial and is freed, “I cannot forgive her for what she has done to me.”What do you mean, TO YOU?Whatever she has done to you she has done to herself many times over. Have you forgotten how sick she was? As sick as anyone has ever been…or can ever imagine being!MAs the guardian of that family, WHERE WERE YOU?I admit to prejudice and naivety, but I pray for her jury this time will be true peers. At the very least, women. Mothers. Or best of al, those who have “been there.”Remember, Russell, the whole world is watching.MEDICAL NOTE: The simple testing described in this book was the forerunner of several methods which have now proven more useful and less cumbersome…and would eventually widen the handling of such important disorders as CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES, CHRONIC FATIGUE, FIBROMYALGIA, ASTHMA, ARTHRITIS, LOSS OF LIBIDO, MENSTRUAL DIFFICULTIES and MENT ILLNESSES such as NEUROSIS, BI-POLAR, TOXIC PSYCHOSIS, AUTISM and SCHIZOPHRENIA.S. Description:
Post-partum stress and depression (PPD) have a significant effect on child development and behavior. Depression is associated with hypercortisolism in humans, and the fluctuating levels of hormones, including corticosterone, during pregnancy and the post-partum, may contribute to PPD. The present study was developed to investigate the effects of high-level corticosterone (CORT) post-partum in the mother on postnatal neurogenesis and behavior in the offspring. Sprague-Dawley dams were treated with either CORT (40 mg/kg) or sesame oil injections daily for 26 days beginning the day after giving birth. Dams were tested in the forced swim test (FST) and in the open field test (OFT) on days 24-26 post-partum. Results showed that the dams exposed to CORT expressed ''depressive-like'' behavior compared to controls, with decreased struggling behavior and increased immobility in the FST. To investigate the effects of treatment on hippocampal postnatal cell proliferation and survival in the offspring, males and females from treated dams were injected with BrdU (50 mg/kg) on postnatal day 21 and perfused either 24 h (cell proliferation) or 21 days (cell survival) later. Furthermore, male and female offspring from each litter were tested in adulthood on various behavioral tests, including the forced swim test, open field test, resistance to capture test and elevated plus maze. Intriguingly, male, but not female, offspring of CORT-treated dams exhibited decreased postnatal cell proliferation in the dentate gyrus. Both male and female offspring of CORT-treated dams showed higher resistance to capture and greater locomotor activity as assessed in the open field test. As high levels of CORT may be a characteristic of stress and/or depression, these findings support a model of 'CORT-induced' post-partum stress and possibly depression and demonstrate that the offspring of affected dams can exhibit changes in postnatal neurogenesis and behavior in adulthood. ...
