It reflects the most current clinical practice and professional standards in nursing and presents the content in an easy-to-use, reader-friendly format. • Includes the most extensive array of care plans found in any nursing care planning book, with 62 nursing diagnosis care plans and 121 disease/disorder/procedure care plans, for a total of 183.
  • The nursing diagnosis care plan format includes a NANDA definition, a brief explanation of the diagnosis, related NOC outcomes and NIC interventions, related factors, defining characteristics, expected outcomes, ongoing assessment, and therapeutic interventions.
  • The disorders care plan format includes synonyms for the disorder (for ease in cross referencing), a clear and succinct definition of the disorder, related factors, defining characteristics, expected outcomes, NIC interventions and NOC outcomes, ongoing assessment, and therapeutic interventions for each relevant nursing diagnosis.
  • Eye-catching icons distinguish collaborative from independent interventions.
  • Covers adult lifespan issues and issues related to various healthcare settings to equip nurses for a broad range of practice settings, from hospital to home.
  • Provides an alphabetical list of NANDA diagnoses inside the front cover.

  • Includes new disease/disorder care plans for SARS, Lyme disease, West Nile virus, and obstructive sleep apnea.
  • Includes new nursing diagnosis care plans for risk for falls, latex allergy response, nausea, and impaired memory.
  • A revised care plan format makes this user-friendly reference even easier to use.
  • Updated and expanded rationales throughout reflect the latest clinical evidence and clinical practice guidelines.
  • Incorporates the 2005-2006 NANDA nursing diagnoses throughout.
  • NIC and NOC classifications reflect the latest editions of Nursing Interventions Classification and Nursing Outcomes Classification.

5-0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive
This book is an excellent resource for someone who is going through a Master's Prepared graduate program.Very comprehensive and detailed. If you've never had a Research course before, you really need to focus while reading, but this book is very well written.
Suggestion:Titles and Subtitles could be more clearly defined - otherwise great!

5-0 out of 5 stars Nursing Research
This text is a very good review for those who are just entering into the world of nursing research. It is however a little wordy. Very difficult to understand at times, but over all a good purchase.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good book, but no CD.
This is a good book that I was glad to find since my nursing research class is one of the few masters degree courses that has exams and quizzes (most of the classes just have a ton of papers) that determine your grade. The problem was that the first time I ordered the book it came without the CD.I figured some smart nursing student scammed Amazon out of the useful CD, then sent back the book for a full refund minus the CD.I returned the book for a new one and the same problem occurred.I kept the book because even without the CD I figure the teacher probably plagiarized some of these questions for the quizzes and exams.I am disappointed that twice it came without a CD, even when I identified the problem to Amazon.

Good luck.

2-0 out of 5 stars poor
Book is defunct missing - it goes from 214 to 231 through 238 then repeats 231 onward again. Also CD rom ismissing. The book is essential for my learning and was costly

Emailed the dealer requesting a new book but they want me to remove poor review and send damaged book.By Faith I bought this book online and I am not receiving the same courtesy

I want a new book then I will return the old

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Use of Money
When it comes to writing your care plans for nursing school, you can't go wrong with Sparks and Taylor.
The back of the book gives you a list of conditions and the possible nursing diagnoses for each one. I would be lost without it. It takes the guess work out and helps you begin your problem solving, critical thinking.

A must buy.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nursing Book Review
The book is a great nursing diagnosis book, we use it for the rest of our college career and in the field.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very well organized and easy to use
As a BS Nursing student who is just getting into the heavy Clinicals, I've explored a relatively large number of Nursing Diagnosis books and so far this is the easiest to navigate and provides *everything* I need to help with my care plans, including the all important rationales - something surprisingly lacking in many Nursing Diagnoses books. Importantly, It also includes references within the diagnoses description(s) to help with the EBP (Evidence Based Practice) portion of care plans as well.

If you are a nursing student, I highly, highly recommend this!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Reference for Clinical Paperwork
I used this book extensively for my clinical paperwork. It gives you suggested diagnoses for different diseases/symptoms, w/ suggested interventions and outcomes. It really sped up the amount of time it took me to complete all of those care plans for clinicals every week. This manual is the best for finding things quickly, and in nursing school saving time filling out all that paperwork is worth it's weight in gold. Most of the reference manuals suggested by instructors I never used - this one actually was very helpful.I recommend it to any nursing student who has to write a lot of care plans, or who has difficulty with coming up with nursing diagnoses.

2-0 out of 5 stars old messed up book
the book is in a very bad shape, it is not supose to be sold to any body. Beside it is a property of a library, was it stolen?

1-0 out of 5 stars No help at all
I purchased this book but it came too late, had already taken the test. I tried to return it but there are no directions on how to do this so I wrote an email to Amazon on how to return an unused item. I still haven't heard anything and that was 4 weeks ago.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great asset!
This is a very good book - it explains most concepts in the simplest way you can understand. I am studying it for my exams now. I tried another nursing entrance preparatory book but this was more helpful.

4-0 out of 5 stars Kaplan for TEAS exam
The Kaplan Nursing School Exams guide is a great tool for those who are attempting to excel the entrance exams in order to enroll in a nursing program. Yet this review is soley based on the TEAS exam. This guide covers BASIC guidelines and info regarding each subject; enough to help you succeed. I have read a lot of reviewers complain about certain books (whether Kaplan or the API study guide) and how the examples do not relate (nor are they exactly the same is a common complaint) to the exams. All I can say is that it is difficult to find a book that covers the exact material and exact questions to whatever exam you plan on taking.

The Kaplan study guide is a great tool, in my opinion, because it not only gives you plenty of questions and material to work with, but it also gives you an idea on how to approach each question. Great study tips too. This book did very well for me. Great refresher...don't expect any book to give you ALL the answers either.

5-0 out of 5 stars I would share this book with everyone!
This book is a godsend, I really thought it was the best prep book I borrowed from the library. It had very thorough reviews for math, life sciences, physical sciences but was lacking a bit in the reading section. It did include very good examples of reading comprehension and that was one of my weakest sections since I'm not a critical, active reader. Personally, I used 4 books total to prep for my entrance A2 for about 4 days and scored a 98. This one was the book I focused on during my review of weak topics but I used Evolve's HESI A2, Barron's, and McGraw-Hill's as well for mostly practice tests. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Leddy & Pepper's Conceptual Bases of Professional Nursing
This book came quickly and in mint condition. Want to learn more about nursing theory? Be sure to purchase this book - a great resource.

1-0 out of 5 stars The first sentences of the very first chapter represent this book perfectly
"The words 'nurse,' 'nourish,' and 'nurture' all come from the Latin root 'nutrire.'The word nurse may be used as either a noun or a verb (Agnes, 2005)."

As you might have correctly extrapolated, the content is usually too theoretical to be useable, yet too rigid to inspire meaningful reflection. The tone is sometimes moralistic, and the writing always very bland. Many times I found myself thinking "they must have a page quota to meet."

If you need this book for class, rent it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Easy, Optmistic Textbook Reading
This textbook was assigned for my 3000-level Concepts of Professional Nursing class during the first semester of my BSN program, and like the class, the book seems optimistic and simplified. The class is set up as more of a round-table discussion with colleagues, rather than students & professor, and the book is well-suited for it. The major concepts are noted at the beginning of the short chapters, and are addressed in the order presented. So far, so good for assigned reading.

5-0 out of 5 stars No Problem
I received my book in less then a week.It came in a box so it could retain its shape and was received in perfect condition.

4-0 out of 5 stars Conceptual Bases of Professional Nursing
This is an excellent book, it covers the professional nursing from the beginning to current. The chapters are well defined. It is my first time of seeing vignettes at the beginning of each chapter. This has an interesting effect of making it relevant to today, I thought it was a good idea to use that. The only complaint I have of the book per se, is the small print. As a study book, the print is uncomfortable to read. Nursing is becoming a second career for a lot of nurses, and with that you will get an older generation going back to school.Battling with the font size is no fun. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars brand new. helpful, portable nursing diagnosis guide.
This Mosby's Guide to Nursing Diagnosis was brand new in the packaging. It is a convenient way to have Nursing Diagnosis information at your fingertips. Our clinical instructor suggested that we may also want the full-sized textbook for more detail. I bought a previous edition of the full-sized book and will probably keep that one at home, while I'll bring this guide to school & clinicals.

This is an excellent text however we recommend Physical Signs in Medicine & Surgery: An Atlas of Rare, Lost and Forgotten Physical Signs as it is the most comprehensive resource available for practitioners and students in the clinical fields. Whether you are studying medicine, dentistry, nursing, or veterinary science the answers to even the most difficult diagnosis are in this Atlas. After you begin to use it, it can replace a half dozen books that cover physical signs. This awesome clinical text and a scut monkey house manual are all you will need for even the toughest residency and you will continue to reference it for years into the future. It is the - Must Have Book - for learning differential diagnosis.

This is a great smaller book for nursing diagnoses. It's clear, concise and fairly easy to find information in.However, it could be a little more user friendly in helping you to QUICKLY find the diagnosis you're looking for.As far as helping with Care Plans, it lacks "related to" information, but great to have as a second book if you already have a Care Plan book.

5-0 out of 5 stars great transaction
The book was in excellent condition and arrived shortly after I ordered it. I was pleased with this transaction and will look for this seller for future needs.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just as described
Item is for my class, so it's not for my entertainment, but it came as described and as promised.

5-0 out of 5 stars Community nursing text
This book is a GREAT public health nursing resource, it lays down a strong foundation for community nursing. I get the most use out of the clinical application sections, they provide modern situations and are informative. You can access the supplemental student resources online through Evolve. Just follow the textbook's instructions. The resources are helpful for added understanding. I purchased it through Amazon as I do most of my textbooks. The delivery was right on schedule as usual.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not up to textbook standards
I hated having to read this book, and here is why.I don't like it when authors use the guise of a textbook to broadcast their personal opinions, viewpoints, and biases.A textbook is not the place to tell me how you feel about drug use, modern families, or the current controversy about childhood immunizations.A textbook should be free from politics. It should be neutral and objective. These authors clearly don't understand that. They seem to think that they should give the appearance of being objective and politically correct while still preaching to their captive audience. We pay so much money for these textbooks and we are required to read them, so they should at least meet the standards for professional writing. Why is the bar lower for nursing textbooks?

Here is just one tiny example from p. 445: "Rather than learning nonmedicinal methods of coping, Americans rely heavily on prescription and OTC drugs to relieve (or mask) anxiety, tension, fatigue, and physical or emotional pain."Oh, so you are saying that people who use drugs are weak and they don't know how to deal with their problems? But then here is the very next sentence in the book: "Addicts are often viewed as immoral, weak-willed, or irresponsible persons who should try harder to help themselves."So which one is it?Is it the public's opinion that drug users are weak, or is it your opinion? And if so, why are you giving me your opinion?I didn't ask for it.

I didn't find this book very helpful for my class. It was an on-line class and I could have really done without the book. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Fundamentals of Nursing
Although book was used it was in excellent condition and still had the CD with it.Very satisified with my purchase.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not good enough
This book is so full of fluff, it's almost unbearable. It also has many content mistakes that leave me shaking my head. It contradicts itself constantly and reads like a collection of undergrad college papers. I gave it two stars because it covers the basics, although in a very sloppy manner.

The ebook version gets 0.5 stars for being a horrible mess which looks nothing like the original. Think never-ending webpage, with useless notetaking and search functions.

If you are a professor, please keep looking. This can't be the best there is.

1-0 out of 5 stars If research is new to you and this is your required text...good luck.
If you want a book that will explain nursing research in the most confusing way possible, you should get this book. The review questionson the CD help a good bit, but the book's explanations of terms and principles couldn't be more confusing. Throughout the reading they try to use "$10 dollar" words instead of simple understandable words that mean the same thing to describe very complex terms/principles. This just adds to the headache of trying to understand these terms/principles. The study guide book is useless. It uses crossword puzzles for each chapter review...yeah crossword puzzles. So you go from one extreme of usingnot-every-day words to the other of using 4 year-old games to explain stuff. I heard the next edition is going to have some connect-the-dots for us to do.

You can't go wrong by purchasing this product at this price!
