Lacks content, too many mistakes
I got this hoping to have a comprehensive guide on the NMTA.The explanations could have been much more effective by giving concrete examples or, especially, the substance of what we are required to know for this exam.Instead, the standards were laid out in more layman's terms.For example, if the standard says that we are to understand child development, then she explains why it is important.This explanation did not, therefore, prepare me for the test questions about Piaget's philosophy or Bloom's taxonomy.The preparation guide lacks adequate content.Since there isn't another guide out there, this is better than nothing.I think it'd be great to have a revised edition that fills in the holes.Also, there are quite a few typos.One - towards the end of the guide - even has the explanation of the standard in the wrong place.Then it is repeated in another section.(Basically, the editor missed a lot...)If you get this book, be prepared to look to other resources to fill in the holes...

Very helpful
I just took the NMTA, after having used this review guide.I felt very prepared and feel that it is in due to the many examples that are included in the guide.I highly recommend this guide.

Disappointing
The book does cover all of the sections of the test, but unfortunately many of the examples have incorrect information -- especially in the math section.Instead of boosting my confidence, it led me to question my abilities more because I had lost confidence in the answers provided. ... Read more

Descriptions are great, answer key has some errors.....
The descriptions of how to answer the questions are excellent.The types of questions are completely appropriate to the NMTA.However, the answer key has a number of errors in it, it will have you questioning both your sanity and your ability to add two numbers together.Rest assured, you are the one who is correct.I can't believe the editors of a test prep book made so many basic skills errors themselves.I scored very, very well on the actual test, but using this study guide really shook my confidence since I couldn't understand why I was getting so many easy questions wrong.Just something to keep in mind if you need to use this book! ...
