Product Description

This book is about our new relationships. A new and surprising world is emerging that requires each of us to explore the sources of our love and cultivate them and the inner sources of all that prevents us from loving (our fears) and heal them. Our evolution has taken a new path, and our relationships are changing in unexpected and dramatic ways.

We are evolving beyond the limits of our five senses and encountering more expanded experiences of ourselves and our world than were previously possible. Where once our perception was confined to what we see, hear, taste, touch, and smell, we are now increasingly able to access data that these senses cannot detect. This expanded perception is forever altering our experiences of ourselves, our world, and our relationships.

Our evolution now presents us at each moment with a profound choice: we can pretend that our lives and the world are not changing and continue to relate to one another as before, or we can use our relationships to transform ourselves into authentically powerful, loving individuals.

In Spiritual Partnership, bestselling author Gary Zukav reveals a profound new relationship dynamic that enables us to reach our full potential and create authentic power—the fulfilling and joyful life that is calling to us all. Spiritual partnerships are not only for couples in marriage; they can be created anywhere two or more individuals decide to engage as equals for the purpose of spiritual development.

Filled with poignant examples and practical guidance, including specific guidelines, Spiritual Partnership empowers and enables us to explore our emotions, our intentions, our choices, and our intuition and to use them to create profound spiritual growth. The world is changing around us and within us, and Spiritual Partnership is the road map to that change.

Amazon Exclusive: A Personal Note from Gary Zukav

I wrote Spiritual Partnership: The Journey to Authentic Power to try to get out of my own cage. I wanted, and needed, to connect with people, not just reach them, but really connect for my own well being and hopefully for theirs as well.

I have learned that the difficult times in my life are not because of other people, they are because of me. They occur because of parts of my personality that are painful to experience. When I am with someone who brings them up in me, that is a painful time, but I know that it is not about the other person when I feel angry or impatient or irritable. It is about me, and so I am intent to use my experiences with others to learn about me so that I can change me because I am really tired of trying to change other people. And not only am I tired of it, I don't want to.It doesn’t feel good. I know deep in me that it is a wrong path for me to take, and I feel that it is a painful path for anyone to take.

Spiritual partnership is a partnership with another person or other people who feel the same way.It is a partnership between equals for the purpose of spiritual growth. So when my spiritual partners and I have difficult interactions, we do not point fingers at each other, we try our best to respond instead of react, and to support one another in doing that also.Spiritual partnership is a new kind of relationship, a different kind of relationship. We do more than talk about hair styles, life styles, car styles, children, and work.We do all those things too but those conversations take on a different meaning. While I am having them, I am noticing what I am feeling. I'm noticing if anything gets triggered in me and if it does, I pay attention to it, especially if I am becoming upset because those are the experiences that keep me from loving. They keep me apart from people.

For a long time I thought that if I could change people enough, and get some that were just right around me, it would be easy to be loving, but it doesn't work like that because everybody has parts of her or his personality that are loving and also parts that are not loving. I would say the not-loving parts are the frightened parts of the personality, the parts that are angry, jealous, vengeful, feel superior, feel inferior, etc. And when these parts become active, and this always happens sooner or later, that's when the learning potential begins. Of course, it also begins when the loving parts come out, the parts that are grateful, patient, appreciative, content, etc. Being a spiritual partner means really wanting to support people because you see when they are in pain how they might learn from their pain, too, if they're open.If they’re open.

My focus is on changing myself because I know that other people can’t change me, but I also know that each of my spiritual partners wants to change himself or herself, too. He wants to find and challenge the painful, destructive parts of his personality and cultivate the constructive, blissful parts of his personality, and so I assist him whenever I think I see that they might be active. I don';t just say "This is what is happening in you, and this is what you ought to do."I ask her if she is open to looking at something that I think I might be seeing. For example, some parts of my personality that I have become very familiar with over years feel superior, entitled, impatient, and don't really care about the needs of others, but not everybody is like that. One of my spiritual partners feels a need to please other people when a frightened part of her personality is active; to see them smile or value her because of what she can do or give. So when I see that part come out in her behaviors and thoughts and attitudes, if she is open I will help her see them. And there are specific ways, very helpful ways that we can assist one another. This book gives them to you.

Once I started this book I kept writing because it felt so good. I love it when creativity begins to flow and I can think of a better way to express something--a story, or a metaphor, or a process. I love that experience of sharing. The more I stretched myself to think, "How can I say this in a way that is not by rote? How can I not take refuge in what I know how to say but really communicate in an even more meaningful way?" the deeper my understanding of spiritual partnership became and the stronger my ability to share it. One idea lead to another, one chapter lead to another, and after a few chapters I began to see an outline for the book, and that outline became WHY, WHAT, HOW, and WHO.That';s how this book unfolded.

There is a saying that people teach what they really need to learn. Doing this in a heart-felt way has worked well for me. I can tell that I am becoming more able to connect with people because to my surprise I have become interested in them.Let me put it this way, I am aware now, much more aware of how important people are to me than I have been in the past.I like hearing their stories. I like hearing what is happening in their lives. For example, Linda Francis, the spiritual partner I live with, and I met a couple on a plane and found them to be wonderful. He told me that he has pancreatic cancer and that he and his wife were going on a cruise to Mexico. When he learned that his illness was terminal, he realized that he could spend his last days in a hospital, but that didn't sound inviting to him. Or he could spend them really living his life, and that invited him. That is what he is doing. What I really like about him is his aliveness, his interest, his interest in me and his excitement for what I am doing. He is as grounded as he is delightful and vibrant. He said, "I am a little afraid of what it will be like to die. I am not sure about that. I know I am going to get sick. I have done my homework on pancreatic cancer. It is an ugly way to die, but I feel so alive and so grateful for every moment." In the little time we were together, I learned about myself as well as about him, but mostly I enjoyed myself and I enjoyed him, and I feel that he enjoyed himself and he enjoyed me.

So those are the kind of experiences that are coming into my life now. And I also know that when it comes to spirituality, I am not special. If I can create authentic power and spiritual partnerships, you can. If I can make the journey from an angry, drug-using, sex-addicted, motorcycle-riding, angry--did I mention angry?--young man to someone who is now enjoying becoming an elder, anyone can. As I began to open my heart up many wonderful role models came into my life over the years, men and women who have opened their hearts or are opening them, and they are still coming. Perhaps I can be one of those role models for you, and you can be one for someone else. We are all opening our hearts, but it is not a matter of opening your heart and, there, that's a done deal. It is a matter of continuing to open your heart moment by moment. This book is about that, and how to do it.

Love,

Gary Zukav

2-0 out of 5 stars The Road Better Traveled is in Other Books
I've never read a Zukav book before, and after suffering through this one, it's likely I won't pick up his books again. Zukav's book on spiritual partnerships and becoming multi-sensory is just poorly written and lacking in depth. I found the book so unappetizing that my eyes just didn't want to stay on the page. He basically takes you through territory others have traveled more skillfully (like Caroline Myss) and more elegantly. Zukav tends to write in generalities and never explains his concepts at all--he just assumes you know what he's talking about. And if you did, then why waste your time on this trite little book? In other words, you learn very little about a true spiritual path. Zukav will no doubt delight those who have yet to read spiritual writings with any rigor or depth. For me, this is a book that did not need publishing, much less take up a few hours of my time. My spiritual partnership with Gary Zukav is now officially OVER!

3-0 out of 5 stars A drawn out Essay
I like Zukav's books and I generally like what he has to say. However ,I think this one missed the boat for me. It hammers away on a point most readers get and for the most part, already agree upon. Unfortunately, those in power who could benefit from such a book are unlikely to read it-its a preaching to the converted sort of book and if I were a little younger, I might have been more enthusiastic. I think it would've made a fine contribution to Yoga Journal or Utne as an article, but as a book I found it repetitive and ungainly. I found myself becoming impatient and skimming ahead. Maybe it needed further editing-at any rate this reviewer could not get through it and that is extremely rare.

1-0 out of 5 stars Beware of Progressivism and Collective Salvation in this book.
As I hit about 50 pages in, I realized that this was a book on collective salvation. What a turn off. Not only did I throw it in the garbage, I will never read another one of his books. Yuck!

5-0 out of 5 stars Real Power Does Come From Within
Aligning your energy with the fulfillment of your souls' purpose. Our power does not come from control of another, our environment or other external factors. It is nurtured and from within and does not come from outside. Controlling external forces is not the answer. I very much enjoyed reading Zukav's book and will be reading his other titles such as "The Seat of the Soul". Highly recommended. ... Read more

"THE LONGEST JOURNEY YOU WILL MAKE IN
YOUR LIFE IS FROM YOUR HEAD TO YOUR HEART."

With the rare combination of profound psychological insight and deep spirituality that has already drawn millions of readers to his two great national bestsellers, The Seat of the Soul and Soul Stories, prizewinning author Gary Zukav now joins with his spiritual partner Linda Francis to help us develop a new emotional awareness that is central to our spiritual development.

In The Seat of the Soul, Zukav brilliantly set forth his fundamental concepts, explaining how the expansion of human perception beyond the five senses leads to a new understanding of power as the alignment of the personality with the soul -- "authentic power." In Soul Stories, he showed how such concepts as harmony, cooperation, sharing, and reverence for Life express themselves in other people's lives. Now, in The Heart of the Soul, he and Francis take the next major step forward in showing us the importance of emotional awareness in applying these concepts to our own daily lives.Amazon.com Review
We are all students in the "Earth school," according to authors GaryZukav and Linda Francis in The Heart of the Soul. And the time hascome to create a whole new lesson plan. For thousands of years we wereoutwardly focused, as we mastered the tasks of cultivating food and buildingshelter. Unfortunately, we are still outwardly fixated, obsessively accumulating more wealth, material objects, and power. "Whatenabled our species to survive so long is now bad medicine. In fact, it ispoison," according to Zukav and Francis. What we need now is an inwardfocus, in which we cultivate the heart and live in alignment with our souls.

As it turns out, The Heart of the Soul is a timely guidebook, with arelease date exactly three months after the terrorist attack on theWorld Trade Center. "The pursuit of external power produces physicalviolence and destruction between nations. You can see this in everynewscast," the authors write:

Billions of people live in poverty, are hungry, and suffer oppression, and brutality. Changing these circumstancesrequires our hearts. It requires the ability to feel the pain and joy ofothers, and to take their needs as seriously as we take our own.
And here is where the heart lessons come in. "As long as there are parts ofyourself that reach outward to make you feel safe, valuable, and loved, youneed to identify them and heal them." The authors include numerous exercisesand activities to help readers feel and understand their emotionsin order to "empower the soul" and live a more rewarding and joyfullife. The words and intentions are indeed poignant and worthwhile. Thenumerous boxes, diagrams, and passages in bold print create a self-helpstructure that some will find simplistic and others will find inviting. --Gail Hudson ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
I have to agree with the author's premise that we need to have awareness and responsibility for our emotions, but decided to put the book down when I read "You might think that your sorrow comes from the death of a friend, but it does not.It comes from the energy leaving your system in fear and doubt."And just how is energy supposed to leave my system after a loss? What good does that statement do anyone?I'm grieving, not because I lost someone but because I'm moving my energy incorrectly.I hope anyone seriously thinking about buying this book reads all the reviews.I happen to be listening to The Art of Mindful Living by Thich Nhat Hanh and find it much more useful.

1-0 out of 5 stars Poorly Conceived and Written
I wasted my time reading most of this book.It is poorly written and the editors should be ashamed they let this through their net.The authors get lost in their analogies, often make monstrous declarative statements that are left unsupported with real logic, and use a vocabulary unique to the authors that is often hard to understand or translate into real English.Skilled analysts will shudder at their explanation of emotional analysis, and how it should be accomplished.A simplistic focus on 'anger' wanders throughout the book without any organization.A disservice is given to the subject of detachment, as well as the way the authors deal with avoiding emotions or their source.Other books cover these subjects more concisely and completely, and in a more readable fashion. Conclusions are hard to find, as are substantive actions to deal with becoming emotionally aware. Here's the spoiler for the entire book: "Become emotionally aware!"Three words summarize the thousands wasted by the authors.Skip this one and find something else meatier and more readable.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
Incredibly useful insights and knowledge. It gives such useful and easy to use tools for personal growth and spiritual development.Highly recommend purchasing this book. In my opinion, a great compliment to Eckhart Tolle's body of work.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Heart of the Soul
Zukav and Francis approach spiritual development by seeing the human life as the earth school for the soul. They state that prior advancements by mankind to further survival are now out-dated, and that we must now evolve into more spiritual beings who learn from our emotions and our bodies' reaction to them. Their advice is aimed at helping the reader conquer addictions, compulsive behaviors, and obsessions in order to live a more spiritual, self-realized life.

This book is interesting and helpful. I found the suggestions they provide in order to help us change our lives to be somewhat negative, vague, and uninspiring. Although the information presented here is excellent, I would recommend this book only to those who are very serious about spiritual growth.

Product Description

With the same extraordinary skill that he used to demystify scientific abstraction and the new physics, Gary Zukay, the award-winning author of The Dancing Wu Li Masters, here takes us on a brilliant and penetrating exploration of the new phase of evolution we have now entered.

With lucidity and elegance, Zukav explains that we are evolving from a species that pursues power based upon the perceptions of the five senses -- external power -- into a species that pursues authentic power -- power that is based upon the perceptions and values of the spirit. He shows how the pursuit of external power has produced our survival-of-the-fittest understanding of evolution, generated conflict between lovers, communities, and superpowers, and brought us to the edge of destruction.

Using his scientist's eye and philosopher's heart, Zukav shows how infusing the activities of life with reverence, compassion, and trust makes them come alive with meaning and purpose. He illustrates how the emerging values of the spirit are changing marriages into spiritual partnerships, psychology into spiritual psychology, and transforming our everyday lives. The Seat of the Soul describes the remarkable journey to the spirit that each of us is on.Amazon.com Review
Gary Zukav's American Book Award-winning The Dancing Wu LiMasters masterfully introduces the layman to quantum andparticle physics, as well as Einstein's relativity theories. With asimilar dose of amiable, easy-to-understand prose, Zukav guidesreaders into the spiritual realm in his bestselling The Seat of theSoul.

Zukav questions the Western model of the soul, alleging that the humanspecies is in the midst of a great transformation, evolving from aspecies that pursues power based upon the perceptions of the fivesenses--"external power"--to one that pursues power based uponperceptions of the soul--"authentic power." He believes that humansare immortal souls first, physical beings second, and that once webecome conscious of this transformation--once we align ourpersonalities with our soul--we will stimulate our spiritual growthand become better people in the process. This insightful, lucidsynthesis of modern psychology and new-age principles has beendescribed as the "physics of the soul." Who better to explain suchheady concepts than Gary Zukav? ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars 'Older' Souls Will Give Zukav's "Seat of the Soul" Five Stars
This book, now over 20 years old, makes as much sense today as it did when it was written. It steps beyond the five senses of human existence into the true reality of our eternal journey.Furthermore, the farther along you are on your particular journey, the more sense the central theme of this book will make to you.

Gary Zukav has a way of writing that touches the soul. The message permeating this intriguing work of art may seem complicated, but is in fact quite simple: we are all connected on our never ending spiritual path and love is the key to enlightenment.

I was only about a quarter of the way through the book when I felt the switch trip inside me and realized that Zukav's way of looking at life and the so-called "afterlife" are as on the mark as you're likely to find in today's world. Furthermore, while I realize this book will be categorized under "new age and spirituality" in most reading establishments, I hope those who take the time to peruse its pages will see it as the truest form of timeless reality.

Open, read, contemplate, and then, most of all, (hopefully) realize.

4-0 out of 5 stars He's very deep
You have to read a lot of it over more than once, the dude is deep. Some of it is "way out there" but most of the book will open your eyes to truth beyond religion.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Guide to the Journey
The Seat of the Soul, first published in 1989, is one of the rare books that one comes upon, once-in-a-lifetime, where its very essence must be captured in a Cliff Note form and carried around throughout the course of the day.
Gary Zukav speaks of the immortality of the soul and a coming of age for the human race as spiritual beings; of the evolution of the soul through multiple lifetimes. He speaks of external vs internal power--one splitting and the other uniting the psyche--of cause and effect. He reflects the Buddhist tradition of Karma, reincarnation, and the Light (with Evil described as the absence of Light which can only be healed by the presence of Light and not by more darkness);and we are embodied systems of Light. He speaks of prayer as "...moving into a personal relationship with Divine Intelligence." He describes Truth as that which cannot harm, but rather empowers. He says that living in the present moment is living in the fullness of your energy--the opposite of which is to allow energy leak to a future or past that does not exist. Zukav includes the words of Jesus, "Ask and you will receive."He suggests, "Love your enemies," and equates those who live in darkness with the blind. There are many parallels.
Helping others to evolve into the fullness of their Light is humanity's highest goal; the balance is to be self-aware enough to not allow lower-frequency energy systems to drain Light from the higher.
Zukav suggests that partnerships are not made on a lifetime commitment but rather "...how long it is appropriate for their evolution for them to be together."--a rather arbitrary concept as the needs of the many, the family system, and not only the "self" come into play.
In essence this book is about the journey of the human experience towards wholeness, the journey home where "neither space, time, anger, jealousy nor fear exist."

True Stories That Transform Lives

Writing with profound psychological and spiritual insight, prize-winning author Gary Zukav has had a major impact on the consciousness of millions. In his New York Times number-one bestseller, The Seat of the Soul, he explained how the expansion of human perception beyond the five senses leads to a new understanding of power -- the alignment of the personality with the soul -- which in turn leads to an awareness of our extraordinary creative abilities. Now, in one of the most important and useful books you will ever read, Soul Stories, Zukav shows how this new understanding of power -- authentic power -- transforms lives in countless ways.

Soul Stories is filled with marvelous stories that show how concepts such as intuition, harmony, cooperation, sharing, and reverence for life actually express themselves in people's lives. Best of all, the stories lead to practical advice on how you can discover your own Soul Stories and the truths they reveal about the deepest sources of your being. Wonderfully readable, Soul Stories is a wise and inspirational book.Amazon.com Review
One of Gary Zukav's many gifts as a speaker and bestselling writer is his ability to present complicated metaphysical and spiritual themes in a way that is simultaneously down-to-earth and spine-tingling. How does he do it? Through story--the oldest and most powerful form of teaching the mind and touching the heart. As a frequent guest on Oprah, Zukav has also discovered that the American public is starved for grounded information on ethereal topics such as intuition, soulful relationships, and nonhuman teachers.

Soul Stories is a collection of true tales that speak to themes such as "Reincarnation," "A Higher Form of Reasoning," "Psychic Archaeology," "The New Female," and "Universal Humans." Some stories come from Zukav's personal experience, like his sister's auto accident and his mother instantly knowing that her daughter was hurt even though they were 100 miles apart. It is tempting to view these 52 tales of fate, coincidence, and sixth sense with an air of doubt. "You have to decide," Zukav warns. "That means thinking about it and, even more important, discovering what you feel about it. Eventually, you might find that what you feel about a Soul Story is more important to you than what you think about it." No matter what you feel about the individual tales, you will leave this book trusting that the best way to understand the meaning and mysteries of life is through story. --Gail Hudson ... Read more

This book changed my life. It provided a whole new perspective at looking at myself and others.

3-0 out of 5 stars A useful but not essential read
I have mixed feelings about Soul Stories. This book is a series of thought provoking stories. You will not like all of them, at least I didn't, but on the whole the book was a good read.

I believe Gary is sincere in his efforts improve the human condition and I believe he is one of many people making progress in this area. You are as well and this book may help you along that path.

My only hesitation in this review is some of the stories seem to stretch Gary's sincerity or experience.I have a strong preference for guides to only talk from experience.I don't know if this impression is fair or perhaps it is only something in me.

Check to see if your library has the book and see for yourself.

This book was published in 2000.I found Soul to Soul published in 2007 to be a more mature read on the subject.

5-0 out of 5 stars A serendipitous helper
I was recommended this book by my boyfriends aunt and trying to be gracious I took down the name and title.I have to say that I was skeptical about the whole self-help book thing. This is not one of them.It doesn't try to change you. It tells you stories, then lets you decide for yourself whether you will take them to heart or not.I am 25 and my mom just passed away. Not knowing how to cope with the grief I wanted to give this a try.I didn't sit down and read this book in one sitting, I read bits of it and it seemed to weave its way into my life.I strongly recommend this book, whether you are going through hard times or not. I have given it as gifts to people in heartache and they seem to really appreciate it.I re-read it all the time, just to go back through. This book will stay in my collection forever.

4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful place to begin . . .
I acquired this set of CDs to listen to while on a long-distance drive. They are very interesting and enjoyable.Zukov teaches moral principles with a series of parables--a long established tool for teaching. The principles he teaches this way are pretty basic, but foundational for us all.For those who feel they're more "advanced", remember that we ALL benefit from review and reminder on the basics. When he got to the subject of men and women that, at times, he came from a more narrow, "traditional" position, which saddened me. This seems to be the one area where he hasn't put away at least some of old fashioned but not necessarily good or helpful attitudes.Otherwise, I must say, this is worth your time.Parents, it will certainly give you additional resources for helping your children understand as well. ... Product Description

People make hundreds of choices every day, yet most of them feel they have little control over their lives. Here, Gary Zukav, author of the monumental bestseller The Seat of the Soul, joins his spiritual partner, Linda Francis, in a revolutionary look at the power of choice to change lives from the inside out.

The Mind of the Soul describes with easy-to-read text and practical exercises how each moment in life presents a choice: whether to persist in old, limited patterns or to experiment with the unbounded, liberating potential ahead. Whether your choices are large -- concerning work, marriage, parenting, divorce -- or appear small, such as whether to show annoyance when angry, they carry consequences for which you must assume responsibility. The Mind of the Soul shows you how, in every situation, one choice among the many that present themselves is the optimal choice -- to create harmony, cooperation, or reverence for life. This special book offers the freedom to experiment with your life, to see what does or doesn't work for you, to change yourself instead of blaming others -- in short, to open your heart and develop authentic power.

With the same sensitivity that made The Heart of the Soul: Emotional Awareness so meaningful, Zukav and Francis guide you, step by step, in developing the ability to break free of the unconscious choices that hold you back and limit your fulfillment in life. ... Read more

Common sense says that if you act on something, think something or feel something then you own your experience. You are responsible for your choices and each choice has consequences. It's hard to argue with the simplicity of such an understanding but you would be shocked how many people miss the lesson. The authors go a long way to tell a short story but it's a story that needs to be retold ad infinitum. I can't say that I learned anything new but my history of reading such books probably surpasses this book's target audience. What seems basic knowledge to one person will be a well spoken revelation to another. In fact, I'm sure that 'Mind of the Soul' has the ability to affect needed change in those who are eager and ready to learn.

1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of Time.Poorly Written.
My book group chose this book plus Heart of the Soul. Both were a huge disappointment, particularly with all the hype surrounding Zukav/Francis.I found both books barely readable. The editors should be ashamed - or there weren't any.The authors make huge jumps in logic (if there is any to be found), make up their own vocabulary and then mis-use it, toss 'spiritual' terms around freely without regard to common usage, and create a confusing mishmash of chapters that take the reader no where in particular. My recommendation is to avoid this book and its companion.

5-0 out of 5 stars Soul seracher!
A great book for those who want to know more about themselves & grow by learning. An excellent book for those who like to know more & develop spritually. Highly recommend it!!

Product Description
In Soul to Soul, Gary Zukav, author of the monumental bestseller The Seat of the Soul, addresses some of the most significant questions about the human experience -- from "Why is life so difficult?" to "How can I learn to trust?" -- with profound answers that are of truly universal value.

With the publication of his revolutionary work The Seat of the Soul, Zukav emerged as an important leader in the world of spiritual development, and it became one of the all-time successful books of its kind. Each of Zukav's subsequent books, all of them bestsellers in their own right, has explored different aspects of that seminal work, offering detailed explanations and practical applications of his original vision.

Soul to Soul represents a giant step forward in the expression of his work, providing penetrating insights that illuminate our lives. It is divided into two sections. Part One, "Soul Subjects," consists of fifty brief, perceptive, and compelling chapters that encourage us to examine our own experiences in new and perhaps life-changing ways. Part Two, "Soul Questions," is different from anything Zukav has written before. Combining profound spiritual and psychological insights, Zukav answers nearly one hundred important questions about life. Each chapter ends with a challenge to readers to experiment with the insight that has been given and make it their own. "Soul Questions," which spans the full range of Zukav's vision, asks:

  • Do we have a destiny?
  • Can you prove that life exists after death?
  • What is the meaning of dreams?
  • How can I love without fear?
  • What is the role of soul in my life?
  • How does a person know what he was put on Earth to do?
  • How can I forgive someone who betrays me again and again?
  • How can I really change?
  • Does the Universe care about us?

Soul to Soul is profoundly simple, wise, and poetic, a book to treasure and return to again and again for guidance and inspiration. ... Read more

This is a good companion book for the other Gary Zukav books, but I wouldn't start with it.
I would call it illustrative of the ideas found in Seat of the Soul and Heart of the Soul.Since I like his books in general, I enjoyed it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Gary Zukav is like the easy course of The Course
He writes practically in words that are understandable which is vital to the growth in the number and variety of practical mystics. One can feel his care for the development of awareness for the world to heal as a whole, one human at a time. Soul Stories found me at a public library sale, and though I focused on reading it only for about 6 months, because the simple and concise descriptions, I was able to quickly understand and begin integrating concepts into life for about 3 years without looking back at the book. This book reminds me of the concepts, written with different stories which brings about further understanding. As a student of the Course, Practical Mysticism, Tibetian Book of the Dead, etc. I am equally a student of Gary Zukav.

4-0 out of 5 stars Help along the road we are all on.
Soul to Soul builds on two other books that I recently read by Gary Zukav - The Seat of the Soul and Soul Stories.

As in my other reviews I am not completely enamored with the books but I have found them helpful and enlightening.I therefore recommend the book to those on the spiritual path.

I follow the rule: "est all things, take what is valuable and not worry about the rest."I presume if you are looking at this book that you follow the same rule.

The book is divided into two parts. The first part has a number of short chapters (again as short stories in Gary's style).A number of questions and answers are organized in the second part.I found this second part particularly easy to read and insightful into Gary's theology.

It is natural for a person to have questions about their life, their purpose, and their soul.We all have struggled directly or indirectly with addictions, suffering, the perceived problems in our lives.

Gary has spent considerable time contemplating these topics and ways of leveraging all of these opportunities for our spiritual growth and for the benefit of others. He seems to be genuinely interested in helping others even when I don't entirely agree with his position.I admire him for that.

If you are dogmatically religious then you will either like or hate his perspective on certain topics such as reincarnation and karma depending on your faith.

If you are on the spiritual path this book may help you along the way.

1-0 out of 5 stars I didn't like this book probably because I did not understand it.
I really didn't like this book because I couldn't understand what the author is talking about. Seat of the Soul was much better!

The author is trying to make this book a feel good book, and in the prologue, he says that he always wanted to share this information (that is included in this book) with his readers. The author is trying to speak from his heart (thus the subtitle Communications from the Heart) but he tends to be confusing in his message. He uses the four seasons as a metaphor to the heart's seasonal changes.I found this to be very unscientific. It is as if the author is forcing himself to convey a spiritual message by coating it in a symbolic metaphor familiar to all of us i.e. the four seasons.

I find reading religious books, whether the Bible, Torah, Qur'an, Buddhist or Hindu scriptures of more benefit.

Product Description

With its unique combination of depth, clarity, and humor that has enchanted millions, this beloved classic by bestselling author Gary Zukav opens the fascinating world of quantum physics to readers with no mathematical or technical background. "Wu Li" is the Chinese phrase for physics. It means"patterns of organic energy," but it also means "nonsense," "my way," "I clutch my ideas," and "enlightenment." These captivating ideas frame Zukav's evocative exploration of quantum mechanics and relativity theory. Delightfully easy to read, The Dancing Wu Li Masters illuminates the compelling powers at the core of all we know.

Amazon.com Review
At an Esalen Institute meeting in 1976, tai chi master AlHuang said that the Chinese word for physics is Wu Li,"patterns of organic energy." Journalist Gary Zukav and the otherspresent developed the idea of physics as the dance of the Wu LiMasters--the teachers of physical essence. Zukav explains the conceptfurther:

The Wu Li Master dances with his student. The Wu Li Master does not teach, but the student learns. The Wu Li Master always begins at the center, the heart of the matter.... This book deals not with knowledge, which is always past tense anyway, but with imagination, which is physics come alive, which is Wu Li.... Most people believe that physicists are explaining the world. Some physicists even believe that, but the Wu Li Masters know that they are only dancing with it.

The "new physics" of Zukav's 1979 book comprises quantum theory, particle physics, and relativity. Even as these theories age they haven't percolated all that far into the collective consciousness; they're too far removed from mundane human experience not to need introduction. The Dancing Wu Li Masters remains an engaging, accessible way to meet the most profound and mind-altering insights of 20th-century science. --Mary Ellen Curtin ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Terrific read!Do yourself a favor and read this book...
...you won't be disappointed.Whether you have a keen interest and understanding of physics or not this book will be appreciated and offers something for both. For those with a decent level of knowledge it will add a dimension of understanding and unique point of view that simply isn't provided almost anywhere else.

For those with very little knowledge, the writing is extremely accessible and explains the science in terms that everyone can both understand and appreciate. And in relating the science to things like certain Eastern religions and other schools of human philosophical thought really helps to provide both context and a sense of "Wow!" and wonder regarding the nature of this universe we live in.

I've read it a few times, and have recommended it to friends, business colleagues and my own children (ok - with my kids, it was sorta required reading in my house) and without exception, all have thanked me for putting them on to this little "treasure".

I'll close the way I opened - Do yourself a favor and read this book...

5-0 out of 5 stars A fusion of Eastern and Western Point of Views
I found this book an enlightening attempt to bring together the Eastern and Western views of universe, ways of life, and philosophies. Having Eastern background, and being educated and lived primarily in the West I relate very well with the subject matter and found the work rather ground breaking, and in a constructive way a demonstration of the "one-bess' of the universe and universal thought. I strongly recommend this book.

3-0 out of 5 stars Interesting Yet Technical
This book was a challenging read as the author attempts to explain the basics of a very complex theories.I found myself struggling to understand the differences between quantum physics, particle theory, the theory of relativity and other aspects of physics. These theories have been discovered by some of the greatest thinkers of all time and thus not easy to understand. While this made for a challenging read, I did learn the importance of keeping an open mind and thus made the book worthwhile.Too often we allow a preconceived way of thinking to prevent further understanding. This is one of the underlying themes of the book and interestingly enough is how a lot of the breakthroughs in physics/quantum mechanics were discovered. The concepts can be applied to just about every aspect of learning.Despite the challenges, this book is worth reading for that reason alone.

5-0 out of 5 stars Understanding the universe and how universe works
A excellent profile of how the universe and universal consciousness works. You must spread your wings and
investigate these things. All this is happening, but you don't know that you don't know!

An excellent primer on how "intention" works and how you can get it to work for you. You are not in
the universe, the universe is in you.

5-0 out of 5 stars A good book, prompt delivery
I read this book in the late 1970's, and after reading it, I felt I was walking on air for days. I just wanted to have it to reread and to share with my children. The book came quickly and was in good shape.

The award-winning author of The Dancing Wu Li Masters shares a collection of inspirational thoughts and daily meditations to help readers along their search for spiritual growth. Amazon.com Review
This collection of 280 thoughts by Gary Zukav (inspired by his bestseller The Seat of the Soul) is packaged like a one-a-day spiritual vitamin. The spiral-bound book can be propped open on a desktop or a kitchen counter. Readers simply flip the pages to find a quote to meditate on every day. Some of the quotes are true gems of wisdom, such as "The decisions that you make and the actions that you take upon the earth are the means by which you evolve" or "If you strike without compassion against the darkness, you yourself enter the darkness." Some offer more intellectual fodder than spiritual awareness, such as "Try looking at life as a beautifully well-organized dynamic." And only a few border on cliché, as in "No two people have the same reality." Nonetheless, Thoughts from the Seat of the Soul makes a great workplace or at-home companion--a daily reminder of why we're here and the true work we have before us. --Gail Hudson ...

I have bought this for or lent my copy to sooo many......those with anger issues, people issues, relationship issues, abused women, drug addicts, crack addict........it is most certainly, a Handbook for your Life.

5-0 out of 5 stars As Advertised

5-0 out of 5 stars Intimidating subject made accessible
There is a definite perception that physics is beyond the grasp of most people. Our culture has developed a mystic of physics as something that can only be understood by those with an aptitude for math, science or engineering. What Gary Zukav, who is not a physicist himself, tries to show is that not only are the concepts of physics very accessible but that they have philosophical implications as important as Plato, Kant or any of the major religions. Gary Zukav is particularly drawn to the parallels between Buddhism and what has emerged in physics in the last century.

The major thesis, which I find rather intriguing, is that we are not in fact casual examiners in the universe, but our very observation of the universe affects how it unfolds. He continuously emphasizes that that the physicists no longer believe that the universe is the deterministic thing that Newtonian physics said it was. Newtonian physics says thatif you knew the location and momentum of every particle in the universe, you could predict everything that would happen. Zukav looks at how the quatum mechanics tells us that in fact chance and probability play a much bigger role in nature than we originally thought and that our conscious observation of certain phenomena can effect these probabilities.

Gary Zukav does a very good job of giving the "so what" that brings these complicated sounding terms to understandable concepts. The weirdness in the universe that exists outside of our normal perceptions is truly amazing. If you read this book and do not have a profoundly new view of the universe and philosophy, then you need to read it again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Changed my Life
Pay no attention that one person who gave this book a bad review. It has probably been the most important book I have ever read. I have given more copies of this book to other people than any other book. After reading it, the world made sense to me for the first time.

#1: I LOVE science and this book explained things I've always wanted to understand.

#2: It keeps the beauty and mystery and magic in the explanations, so that the science is not dry, but exciting, making one want to learn more.

#3: Though it is a book on physics, it probably made me more convinced there is a God than any religious book I've ever read.

5-0 out of 5 stars Diffucult Subject make Palatable
This has to be one of the best books to gain an overall history of the atomic era quantum mechanics and providing a low math general synopsis of what seems to be the totally irrational field of Quantum mechanics. The author provides a little background on each featured scientist along with an excellent explanation of their part in the unfolding quantum mysteries. The author has an interesting style that makes the book an easy read.

5-0 out of 5 stars Mind Expanding to the fullest extent
This book is THE book to read for those who are not familiar with complex math, but are interested in the basic principles of quantum physics. First, I must say that anyone who gives this book a bad rating has either not understood any of the material or not read the book at all [...]. It covers all aspects of basic quantum theory from the first beginnings of it (Plank's constant, discovery of quanta through study of Black-body radiation; wave-particle duality, Heisenburg's uncertainty principle, Schrodinger's wave equation & wave functions, etc...) to relatively newer quantum theory (the Space-Time Continuum, Black Holes, Bell's theorum, quantum logic, etc...) as best as english (combined with articulate diagrams) can describe WITHOUT MATH. This book contains the best desciption and examples of Einstein's Special and General Theories of Relativity that I have ever UNDERSTOOD. Coupled with Zukav's amiable style this book is an extreme pleasure to read. One thing I found foresightful was that many parts of the book have footnotes that are written by physists who previewed the book and expounded upon the writing therein with by clarifying concepts for those who are familiar with physics and math already. 95% of this book is about understanding these new ideas (more specifically being led upon the road to experience and understanding rather than having things crammed into your brain just to be regurgitated into nothingness) and 5% (in the introduction and last chapter mostly) about how this "New Physics" coorelates to eastern religious views (NOT NEW AGE RELIGION) that have been in practice for thousands of years. The book comes complete with bibliography of all the literature Zukav has referenced in his own quest to understand quantum physics and the nature of reality and a extremely complete index that is very useful when you need it. Over all this book was relatively very easy to read (when it comes to science books) and I would recommend it to anyone who is curious about how reality is defined.

This book is THE book to read for those who are not familiar with complex math, but are interested in the basic principles of quantum physics.First, I must say that anyone who gives this book a bad rating has either not understood any of the material or not read the book at all (this is probably the case for the one star review [Mr. Bernie]).It covers all aspects of basic quantum theory from the first beginnings of it (Plank's constant, discovery of quanta through study of Black-body radiation; wave-particle duality, Heisenburg's uncertainty principle, Schrodinger's wave equation & wave functions, etc...) to relatively newer quantum theory (the Space-Time Continuum, Black Holes, Bell's theorum, quantum logic, etc...) as best as english (combined with articulate diagrams) can describe WITHOUT MATH.This book contains the best desciption and examples of Einstein's Special and General Theories of Relativity that I have ever UNDERSTOOD.Coupled with Zukav's amiable style this book is an extreme pleasure to read. One thing I found foresightful was that many parts of the book have footnotes that are written by physists who previewed the book and expounded upon the writing therein with by clarifying concepts for those who are familiar with physics and math already.95% of this book is about understanding these new ideas (more specifically being led upon the road to experience and understanding rather than having things crammed into your brain just to be regurgitated into nothingness) and 5% (in the introduction and last chapter mostly) about how this "New Physics" coorelates to eastern religious views (NOT NEW AGE RELIGION) that have been in practice for thousands of years. The book comes complete with bibliography of all the literature Zukav has referenced in his own quest to understand quantum physics and the nature of reality and a extremely complete index that is very useful when you need it.Over all this book was relatively very easy to read (when it comes to science books) and I would recommend it to anyone who is curious about how reality is defined. (And people should really read books before reviewing them Mr. Bernie) ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars This is soooo awful
Man, oh, man. I love Gary Zukav, and I really hate to have to say this, but.....THIS IS SO BAD!!! It isn't Gary's fault, though. The interviewer guy is *the* most annoying human, ever. And, well, also, this tape does not contain anything new. If you have read any of the "Soul" books, you already know all of the info presented here. Save your dough.

5-0 out of 5 stars Igniting Your Soul Life
Everybody:here's your chance to hear Gary Zukav talk without being constantly interrupted by Oprah!!!!!He's even more terrific on tape than on television. He's magical and I hope they make more of these tapes available.

5-0 out of 5 stars Interview with Gary Zukav
This is an hour-long interview Gary did with New Dimensions Radio, and it is excellent. Anyone who is enthusiastic about Gary's ideas and Gary himself will enjoy it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Authentic Power Audio
I would not recommend this audio. It's not the author himself speaking. Rather, it's two people discussing the book. In my opinion, it's a rip-off.

4-0 out of 5 stars Interesting
Interesting CD. In the other reviews, I also found it interesting how people pervceive things so differently. He is NOT saying that violence, the Holocost, etc is OK, he is saying to look at these horrific events and learn from them and see what HAS come from them. It is too bad that someone would be so limited minded to not even finish the cd before it was done, and to try to understand where he is coming from. This reaction, is exactly what he is speaking about: limited thinking, opinions, beliefs, negitive agendas, etc, has got us in this pickle we are all in TOGETHER. The CD is rather unlike other audio cd's, but still has valuable content-I guess it just depends on the spiritual (not religious) level one is on to
be able to actually understand where he is coming from. I enjoyed the conversation between the two men. I didn't think it seemed "staged", but I was more into what was being said than how it was said.

1-0 out of 5 stars Drivel
Run, do not walk, away from this tape. This man has no idea what he is talking about. The world is more compassionate because of the Holocaust? We have moved away from brutality and violence as a result? Political prisoners and victims of genocide, war crimes and mass murder around the world for the past 60 years will be greatly relieved to find this out. Not to mention the hundreds of thousands of women and children who have been sold into slavery in the booming international sex trade in the last decade alone. It is an outrage to suggest that there are no victims, and that these people are simply reaping what they have sewed in previous lives. Even if true, what an invitation to self-congratulatory and heartless indifference. When I reached the point where Zukav said that we "do not know what contract children who are victims of sexual abuse may have made" (regarding their experiences in this lifetime), I popped the tape out of the player and threw it in the back seat. If it hadn'tbelonged to the local library, I would have thrown it a lot farther than that.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must have !!!
I listened to this tape while traveling from Europe to the US a few weeks ago and although english isn't my native language I really enjoyed it. My favorite part is where Gary tells us how he himself became convinced of the existence of other dimensions than the physical one. An open mind is a good starting point before reading or listening to any of Gary's works. I saw a reviewer of one of the books who complained about Gary not including God in his visions, well you should propably come back in your next incarnation and read the book again and hopefully you will see the light. So this is definitly a must have just like all of Garys work! (sorry for my poor english...)

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't Waste Your Time and Money
This single tape is a one hour radio interview. It is not an abridgedreading of a book. There is very little content. And the recording is notprofessionally done.I found it annoying listening to these two men wheezeand swallow for an hour while expounding on meaningless new age jargon. There was nothing thatwas helpful about obtaining Authentic Power. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Truly inspired
Leo Booth was truly inspired when he wrote this delightful book.I read it 2 1/2 years ago at a time when I needed to see what a difference negative thoughts and attitudes can make in our lives.Difficulties, disappointments, heartaches, etc. can be overcome.I love this little book.I've read it twice and it has a permanent place in my library.I also read Zukav, Redfield, Gray, Williamson, Morrissey, Weiss, Orloff, Jampolsky, Walsh, Myss, Ford, Hartmann, etc. Although I usually prefer non-fiction, this is delightful.

4-0 out of 5 stars Angels and Frogs are nice "mentors"
I really enjoyed the book. I felt connected to the characters- as if Christine had dropped into my life-pond as well. I regret that the book had to end - but one of the few books that I did finish before starting a newone!
