5 Stars!

I loved this book. The plot was intricate, intense, fast paced, well thought out and wonderfully written. The characters were believable, likable, and intensely loyal to each other and their country. The chemical reaction between characters was explosive with hot sexual scenes that left me sweating. I was hooked from the first chapter and read well into the night. This was not just a love story, but the story of political intrigue, true love verses duty, passion, honor, great dangers and intensely loyal people. I would not only highly recommend this book, but will anxiously be awaiting this author's new work. You can't go wrong with this book.

(She) has created a war torn and grief-stricken setting that helps to lay out the struggles Minnie faces as she tries to find Duardo. This is a love story, but more importantly, it is the story of Minnie's quest for someone who completes her. Black Heart is truly an adventure of the mind. Minnie and Duardo are two characters who won't soon be forgotten.

3-0 out of 5 stars Satisfactory!
I happened to purchase this novel and the author's previous Holmes effort, CHRONICLES OF THE MISSING YEARS, simultaneously. That was fortunate, because if I had purchasedand read COTMY first, I would never have purchased another novel by this author, and so would have missed out on this one.

In short, this pastiche has everything that the first novel lacked: plot, vivid characters and characterizations, continual new developments and unexpected incidents. There's a good, scenery-chewing villain, Von Stein, and plenty of frantic action, as various secret agents practice the double- and triple-cross.As in any novel which mixes Holmes into WWI, there's not a lot of opportunity for Holmes to be Holmes--- instead, he's a rather elderly, but still spry action hero.

The novel's only liability is the return of a preposterous character from CHRONICLES, among whose many absurdly exaggerated abilities is that of being in two widely-separated locations at what is apparently the same instant, both timewise and plotwise. It is also a bit disappointing not to have Watson around, and further to be left at novel's end with no clear indication as to the current status of Mycroft Holmes.

If you don't mind some bending of the willow, you'll probably enjoy this adventure of Holmes in the middle East during the height of WWI. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Deserves to be a Movie
This book deserves a much larger following and a much longer review than the one I am willing to write at this time.An exceptional adventure story with intrigue, mystery and love, this book would make an excellent movie (all-be-it with the right screenplay writer, right director, and right cast).

The story takes you to the time of King Richard, Robin Hood, Prince John and takes you on an adventure that is historical as well as romantic.Unlike other Robin Hood stories, this book uses Robin (Robert of Loxley) as a supporting character.

My friends and I have truly enjoyed this treasure that we just happened to stumble across and I will enjoy reading it again and again.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Amazing Historical Romance!!!!
Finally another author not afraid to include historic details in her historical romance. After all isn't that the reason many of us read historicals opposed to other genre's?

This was a wonderful story and as I stated earlier full of rich historic details and great characters.I truly felt that I was with Helena of York on her quest to find her father's killer brought to justice. While doing this she treads a fine line between two different kings and one man that knows her secret, and one man she finds is her strength and her love.

Stephen is Count Dinan from Normandy.King Richard has turned his back on him and now he is known as the Black Knight. While in Oxford during a council meeting he finds himself drawn to the beautiful Isolde of Brittney.Stephen knows that Isolde is not what she appears to be.He once played with the young Isolde and the beauty before him is not the little girl he played with.Soon he finds himself drawn to Helena and he makes a promise to always be there for her no matter what.Little did he know that he was actually going to pay a price larger then he ever thought he would and that he would do it again if it would keep Helena safe.Together the work to find a traitor and killer.

The chemistry between the two main characters is wonderful. It doesn't detract from the story and in fact only adds to it. You can tell that the author did her homework on York and Oxford.I have lived in England previously and have visited both of these wonderful cities.Ms. Cooper-Posey did justice to them both. Not to mention the fact that I loved that she included the myth of Robin Hood. But the most important part of any historical is actual historic figures being included.Again Ms. Cooper-Posey gets added points for including both King Richard and his brother John as part of the colorful cast of characters, as well as creating wonderful secondary characters that are very much a part of the story.

I highly recommend this book to anyone that loves rich details, and a wonderful story that will pull you into the time period. The romance is wonderful and well written. Ms.Cooper-Posey is a truly talented author and one that I will look forward to reading again in the future!

5-0 out of 5 stars exhilarating medieval romance
In 1197 Oxford, per the orders of King Richard, the Chief of Justicular Hubert Walters calls a meeting of the Great Council.Prince John's supporters prefer not to be there, but even the most loyal of Richard's lords would rather be elsewhere.Only the Black Baron Stephen of Dinan wants to be there. He gave an honest opinion to Richard several years ago and since has been in royal disfavor that everyone treats with contempt. His only hope to regain his former status is courage by the King's side in war.Hubert informs Stephen he is not to attend the meeting.

Stephen meets Isobel at the Great Council feast, but insists she is an imposter as he knew Isobel in Brittany. The masquerade Isobel is actually Helena daughter of a deceased aristocrat murdered allegedly by a Saxon villager, but she believes a Norman lord did the dastardly deed. She has gone undercover to learn who murdered her father.Stephen soon helps Helena on her quest when attacks on her life begin. As they fall in love her heart remains filled with vengeance making little room for Stephen.

HEART OF VENGEANCE is an exhilarating medieval romance that transports the audience to the late twelfth century through historical tidbits and persona interwoven into the delightful plot.Stephen and Helena carry heavy emotional loads so that love is out of the question for both of them yet neither can deny their feelings for the other. The support cast especially the also obsessed Prince John adds the feeling of being in Oxford.Though one of the most frequently used eras in novels and movies, readers receive a refreshing vivid picture of courtly intrigue inside a fabulous love story.

4-0 out of 5 stars Must Read
Don't let the title throw you, this is a romance and a very good one at that! Betting with Lucifer by Tracy Cooper-Posey has just been re-released in ebook format Dec 10th.

This is the story of Lyndsey and Lucifer (Luke), co-workers, rivals and lovers. Lyndsey has a few issues, trying to live up to her mother's memories and achievements only aiming to surpass them she has been a little more than disturbed with the presents of Luke at the hotel. Luke is from NY, the newest addition to the Freeman Hotel and the office ladies man, a mystery, a charmer and is kicking her butt in their sales numbers......almost!

In the opening scene Luke sets her up to fail on a bet just to get a date with her. As much as I wanted to scream, what a slime Luke charmed me too. There was already something wounded about him and knew that I just wanted to read more and dig deeper to find out what made Luke tick.

Lyndsey on the other had I understood, brilliant on her own right but in the wrong profession and for all the wrong reasons, a woman who gets anxiety attacks from public speaking is in charge of Marketing and client relations? What I did adore about her is that she couldn't help but say what came to her mind. Filter not included! Needless to say she loses the bet and from that moment their fates are set in motion. Luke carries so many dark secrets, who is he really, why does he disappear to NYC every weekend and what is he doing? Lyndsey can't help but want to dive right in and discover what makes Luke tick. What is the deal with his past and that eclectic family she keeps hearing about. Something just isn't quite right. Forgiving him for tricking her into the bet in the first place they are once again at odds until both learn trust. Watching them grow together and learn about who they were and what they truly meant to each other was so heartfelt as both Luke and Lyndsey come to realize that the lives they have so strategically planned out for themselves aren't making them happy, but completely miserable. Tracy was able to pull me in as though I was experiencing all their joys and struggles with them, both Luke and Lyndsey's emotions so candid and raw. A roller coaster of anger, fear, passion and love I was simply swept away.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Romance You Won't Want To Miss!!!
Ms. Cooper-Posey has done it again!"Lucifer's Lover" is an emotionally vested romance between two people who think they know what they want.Fact is they truly have no clue until fate forces them to face them to take a cold hard look at what's important.

Lyndsay is working hard to achieve the professional goals she's set for herself. She's hard working, determined, and failure is not an option. She is well on her way to seeing these goals met until someone throws her a curve, and that curve is none other than Luke.Luke irritates Lyndsay to no end!Now they're working together not as boss and co-worker, but instead as equals.Together they make things happen and allow the chemistry that's been slowly burning in the background to move center stage. But, what will happen between them when things don't go according to plan, and life actually has the nerve to get in the way? Will Lyndsay take a chance and reach for happiness, or will Luke's secrets and personal fears keep them from finding a love of a lifetime?

Lyndsay and Luke are exceptionally drawn characters.Ms. Cooper-Posey is a master at creating character's a reader will truly care about. She's not afraid to create a lead character that's not "perfect" in every way. Both Lyndsay and Luke have their own share of emotional baggage that has gone a long way into forming the adults they've become. The conflict between Lyndsay and Luke is not only believable but also entertaining. As a result the reader is treated to a well-choreographed dance between two people looking for love, acceptance, and a happy ending.Ms. Cooper-Posey writes with heart and is a gift to the writing industry.

5-0 out of 5 stars Action-Packed
They saved each other then lost each other, but for both of them the call of the guardian mountains and the memory of an unbreakable bond pull them back to the mountains looking for something precious. There is an empty spot in each of their hearts that can only be filled by that one special person.

When they finally meet again, the "take-care-of" love, like they had on the mountain ledge, springs to life in full force. Each wants to make life better for the other.

Sophie, now divorced with two children, works long, hard hours to keep her café running, keep up her home, and nurture her children with the help of Jinni who lives with them. Money is always tight, so what she can't do in the way of repairs goes undone. Added to this the Police Chief Peter Gallenson wants her for his own, but Sophie doe not want him. He is overbearing and loves the power he has in the little town of Serenity Falls.

When Martin Stride, a drifter, comes to town, Sophie defends him against bullies, but the underhanded Gallenson wants the drifter gone and tries to make it happen. Martin doesn't leave and the conflicts create breathtaking reading.

Martin (aka Jack) has moved around continuously for years to escape an assassin. But he longs for a place to call home. He is a polite, considerate, laconic, hardworking man. When Sophie offers him a room in her home, he accepts knowing that fate will probably catch up with him here if he stays long. But the overwhelming need to be near Sophie outweighs all else. The added bonus of children to share time with and books to read is like manna from Heaven.

The mystery, suspense, and intrigue that surround Jack and the personal conflicts that boil up in the little mountain town make Dead Again a story that makes you hold your breath as it unfolds. However, the caring love that grows deeper and truer each passing day is the essence of the story. Jack and Sophie's pure wanting to be with each other, to feel complete, to take care of each other make when they finally come together to make love especially satisfying.

Tracy Cooper-Posey's remarkable descriptions, her ability to keep tension high and love pulsating like magic in the lives of the hero and heroine captures one's mind and imagination and holds on to the very last word of Dead Again.

Product Description
Chronicles of the Lost Years is a Sherlock Holmes pastiche. It features both Holmes and Watson and is in part the "real" story of Holmes' adventures in the Middle East and Asia during the three years Watson believed him dead--commonly referred to as the Great Hiatus. The explanation comes in the shape of a woman--Elizabeth Sigerson. Elizabeth is independent, practical, a crack shot with a pistol, and definitely not a woman of her time. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Not a Lot Here...
Apparently there is a whole narrow genre of Sherlock Holmes pastiches known to its fans as "Sherlockian Romances," in which the Great Detective is (against all the Canon) matched with some supposedly appropriate female. ...Well, in the present book we have Holmes saddled with a young woman who is (we are told on just about every page) so incredibly beautiful and so impossibly unsocial that she is irresistable to Holmes, who against all reason takes her off with him when escaping from the Reichenbach Falls and Moriarty's two henchmen. After three years of wandering the world, during which absolutely nothing of interest happens, Holmes returns to Baker Street and installs Elizabeth Sigerson as "Mrs. Sigerson," his personal secretary! The plot jumps abruptly to 1903 and some totally preposterous antics involving Col. Sebastian Moran. We are told that Watson, Lestrade, etc., never mention Elizabeth during all the post-Reichenbach pre-retirement period lest someone should try to distract Holmes by kidnapping or threatening Elizabeth. Why they couldn't do the same by attacking or kidnapping Watson, Mrs. Hudson, Billy, Wiggins, etc.... well, don't ask!

In the whole novel there is not a single character (including Holmes) who comes to life even for an instant. There is no plot, and all the characters, including Holmes, behave in a way both inexplicable and imbecilic.[For example, although we are told on every page that Elizabeth is so impossibly beautiful, etc., see above, that no man or woman can take his eyes off her, Holmes and Elizabeth waddle mindlessly and undisguised through Europe, always amazed when Moriarty's men track them down or trap them.]

The author's imagination runs pretty much on empty as far ashaving Holmes be away from Baker Street for three years, so for two of them Holmes and Elizabeth do nothing but tend goats and have wild, crazy nightly sex in an isolated Tibetan village.Holmes hikes to Lhasa, looks in at Mecca, and fiddles with coal-tar derivatives in France only because these are markers from the Canon, not because this novel's character would be motivated to do such.

Despite all the problems, I must say that Ms. Cooper-Posey is a competent writer.I kept turning the pages despite the lack of intellectual stimulation, lack of character development, and lack of any plot whatsoever. However, at the end, I must say that the total sum of enjoyment I experienced was quite small, and that the total burden of mild outrage at the way my time and interest had been taken advantage of was noticable.

1-0 out of 5 stars A Disappointing Read
Here I was, browsing for a new Sherlock Holmes pastiche, when I came across The Chronicles of the Lost Years.I thought to myself, "Here it is!The definitive romantic Sherlock Holmes novel!"By itspromise of introducing an intriguing woman into Holmes's life (and thereader's) who was his equal in intellect (and NOT less than half his age atthat!), I eagerly loked forward to reading this book.Unfortunately, I washighly disappointed. The plot seemed to owe far too much to other"woman in distress" pastiches we've all read, and the charactersjust doesn't seem to ring true.I felt that this novel had a captivatingpremise, but the end result just didn't seem to come together. With such aengaging topic as Sherlock Holmes and romance, there could have at leastbeen something memorable readers could remember from this book. But thereisn't.

1-0 out of 5 stars A Travesty!
Again, someone has decided that the Sherlock Holmes created by Conan Doyleshould be thrown into the trash and exchanged for a "man of the90s." A lover for Holmes who is also at least his equal as adetective! Get real. If authors are going to write a pastiche, they arebound by ethics to keep the character true to the Canon, not turn him intowhat their modern-day feelings wish him to be.

1-0 out of 5 stars The Not So Great Hiatus
I have just read "The Chronicles of the Lost Years" and wonder if I read the same book as four of the previous reviewers.Although I am by no means a Sherlock Holmes expert, I have read all the Conan Doylestories several times and enjoy reading pastiches and critical essays aboutSherlock Holmes. I do have my own strong opinions about him and how heshould be treated outside the Canon. For believability it is the customfor pastiche writers to have their stories narrated by Dr. Watson, however,in this case it has hampered the development of the plot.It might havebeen better in the third person.I was disappointed not to be told ofHolmes' experiences in Tibet but, of course, Elizabeth couldn't tell us because she wasn't there. SinceElizabeth would never have told Watson anyof the intimate details of her life with Holmes, this is one of the thingsthe book lacks (a little spice never hurts).Ms. Cooper-Posey has usedanother familiar device for pastiche writers -- the Great Hiatus.Whenwriters are unable to fit their stories into the chronology of the Canon, out comes the Hiatus.Books on the Hiatus that I do recommend are NicholasMeyers' well-written but controversial, "The Seven PercentSolution" and my favorite which I think fits Holmes better,"Sherlock Holmes, My Life and Crimes" by Michael Hardwick.Allin all, a very unsatisfying read; the whole situation is just tooimprobable for Sherlock Holmes' active years. For a story of thesemi-retired Sherlock Holmes (after 1914) with an equal partner who is hiswife, I would suggest Laurie R. King's Mary Russell series.Ms. King didit first and did it better.

5-0 out of 5 stars Graceful, detailed, original -- the prose sings!
Fans have speculated for years about Sherlock Holmes' absence from BakerStreet, a time refereed to as The Great Hiatus. Speculate no more! TracyCooper-Posey has soundly answered the call to fill in the missing gaps, and the result is a carefully crafted, gleefully created novel guaranteed to satisfy the most ardent mystery lover.Tracy offers a touch of romancein the character of Elizabeth Sigerson. Elizabeth is a daring heroine, ableto shoot, wear men's clothing, and fight her way through life with herwits, intelligence, and grace. Because Elizabeth's presence must be keptsecret, so evil characters like Moriarty have less ammunition with which toharm Holmes, she is the perfect excuse for the inconsistencies andmysteries found in Holmes stories. Holmes equal, Elizabeth holds heart forthirteen years, before Holmes' worst fear for her safety come true.InChronicles Of The Lost Years, Watson records the events immediatelyfollowing the death of Moriarty, when both Holmes and Elizabeth disappearfor three years, and are presumed dead by the world. But Moran, Moriarty'shead henchman, saw Holmes and Elizabeth escape cross country, and pursuesthem as they cross Europe on foot. They venture into Constantinople,Persia, and Tibet in search of answers and wisdom. They discovered the joysand simplicity of the nomadic life. But their return to London brings abouta very turn of adventure. And while no one knows about Elizabeth, to keepher association with Holmes from making her a target, silence promotes itsown kind of danger. This is not the typical steamy love story. Rather,it is a powerful adventure with a touch of heart. Tracy Cooper-Posey is aremarkable voice, whatever genre she chooses to indulge. Graceful, detailed, and original, her prose sings.

4-0 out of 5 stars Solstice Surrender
Solstice Surrender by Tracy Cooper-Posey is a novella is available in print as part of the Winter Warriors anthology, but as of Dec 15th it is available as a stand-alone e-book!

Jenna is a tough girl, but even tough chick needs a break sometimes especially when her love Kevin died three months ago on a botched mission she escapes to the Canadian Rockies for a little R&R and to mentally regroup. An SIA (Special Investigations Agency) Operative she has to be tough but sometime is happening to her that she can't explain or fully understand. Right from the very beginning this story takes off with Jenna mentally forcing a woman who is being berated by her husband to pour coffee on his lap. I must admit the jerk deserved it. But who ensues is a foot race to gain her safety with the help of the ever so sexy Rhys Cellyn. Who is this guy who just appeared out of thin air, laterally teleporting to her, grabs her hand and guide her to safety? And why the heck does she have an infinite amount of trust in him. She can't shake the feeling of comfort, trust & extreme attraction when it comes to Rhys, and the niggling feeling that she knows him. There is a connection that she can't explain, but Rhys has all the answers. Most she isn't going to like. A Mythical world and fantasy, this guy is completely mad! Those are the thoughts Jenna has as Rhys explains that he felt a connection to her all this time, finally able to capture her in person before the Winter Solstice. Having no clue what he is talking about and afraid that everything he says is true, how can she have these mental powers? She knew in her heart that it was true, just like the fact that Clement Hine was after her, this was no fantasy, this was real. Rhys has been waiting a long time for Jenna, finally he has her and he isn't going to let her go. Problem is that they will have to bond before the Winter Solstice, actually the real problem is that Jenna needs to accept Rhys and the bond. Giving up her life and accepting who she is, unleashing her powers. What's a girl to do? Through non stop action and some very smokin sex Jenna will find her path, let's just hope she finds it in time! Otherwise all is lost. I couldn't stop reading this story, loving paranormals I was thrilled to turn every page and wonder that the heck was going to happen, keeping me on the edge of my seat and glued to every word until I was finished. Strong but flawed heroine I couldn't get enough of Jenna and Rhys. He knew he loved her and fought for that love in such a additively charming way I just wanted to gobble him up!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fab!

Silent Knight has it all--a villian that is all seeing, a hero that is tall, dark and tortured ; a heroine who's trying with her last shred of strength to make life work. The romance elementsare subtly done and yet so intergral to the book, this is the suspense romance genre at it's best!

5-0 out of 5 stars Silent Knight..What a Ride!
What a ride!
A small plane crashes into the Colorado mountains, taking with it 7 people. The crash was no accident. Only two survive, and their lives are changed forever. Sophie Kingston, ultra control freak finds herself having to accept care from a stranger. Jack Laubreaux, mysterious and certainly dangerous, becomes her only chance at survival as he becomes physician, psychiatrist, and nursemaid. Her broken leg and his head injury are not their only problems, though and before Jack loses consciousness, he leaves her with a chilled warning: "They will come. They will kill."
Eight years later, Sophie has returned to live in Serenity Falls, a mountain town. She has two lovely children and memories of Jack, who even after his death made certain provisions for her. Her life is normal, too normal, until one day, she sees a man who reminds her of Jack. But, that is impossible. He died eight years ago. Didn't he?
She is determined to learn his identity and winds up with more trouble than she can handle. Silent Knight.
Tracy Cooper-Posey has a unique talent for taking her readers by the hand, leading them to the edge and pushing them off the cliff. What a story! What a ride!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Read For Fans Of Romantic Suspense!!!
This was a wonderful book that I was loath to put down until I finished the final page.Ms. Cooper-Posey has penned an amazing suspense read that offered so many twists and turns and wonderful characters that I was totally drawn into her world.

Two strangers meet under the most challenging circumstance.Jack Laubreaux and Sophie Kingston are the only survivors of a plane crash.Sophie has suffered a severely broken leg and Jack has suffered a sever head injury as a result of the crash.Together the hunker down and wait for rescue with Jack realizing two very important things. One, he feels responsible for the crash that left five other people dead, and two, he doubts that the rescue will take place very soon.He will do all that he can to protect Sophie before he succumbs to his injury.Along the way these two very different people grow close on that mountain ledge and when they are finally rescued and taken to the hospital Sophie is told that Jack has died as a result of his injuries. She is left bereft and carries on with life, even marrying someone that reminds her of Jack but it doesn't last. She gets on with life and when she spots a stranger walking along the road she immediately thinks of Jack. The man that saved her life and touched her heart eight years earlier that she had not been able to say goodbye to.

Jack has been on the road trying to stay one step ahead of the person that wants him dead, and at the same time find a life worth living. It's only a coincidence that leads him to Serenity Falls, that and the fact that he is drawn to the mountains every winter. He can't believe his eyes when he sees Sophie for the first time since he lost consciences on the mountain. Now all of the feelings he thought he had buried rise to the top and although he knows he should leave he can't and instead allows himself to draw close to her again. This time he wants the happy ending but will he be able to have it before the "Silent Knight" catches up with him?

The chemistry between Sophie and Jack is wonderful.I love how Ms. Cooper-Posey manages to build the respect and attraction between these two very strong people.Their first kiss is so worth the wait and in my opinion is one of the most romantic kisses that I've read. The suspense of this story is top drawer, and the reader will truly be kept guessing who the bad guy is and how this person relates to Jack. This was truly a high-octane read and when combined with the romantic storyline that Ms. Cooper-Posey has created this is a book that will leave the reader completely satisfied.I highly recommend Ms. Cooper-Posey.

4-0 out of 5 stars Full of Danger & Turmoil!
Vistaria is a country on the brink of rebellion. When Calli travels to the country to be with her cousin Minnie, she is almost immediately thrown into turmoil. Aside from helping Minnie stay out of trouble, which includes keeping an eye on her and her new beau Duardo, she falls head over heels for Nick. Known as the mysterious Red Leopard, it seems Nick has feelings for Calli as well. But there is too much at stake for Nick to be involved with Calli, as the Vistarians do not favor Americans. Nick would lose any power he has if he is seen with Calli, but their attraction cannot be denied either. The two couples are caught up in the melee as the rebels strike. They are desperate to escape the danger and stay together through it all.

The Red Leopard is a story full of danger and turmoil. The longing Nick and Calli have for each other is almost overwhelming. When they finally come together, it is hot and passionate. Nick and Calli's reunion after a brief separation is a scorchingly emotional scene. It's a very sweet moment. The plot is a little slow paced in the middle, but the last part of the story is exciting. I did, however, find the ending to be somewhat anticlimactic. There are a few plot points in which the reader is left hanging. Overall The Red Leopard is a good book. It captured my interest and I found it entertaining.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Read That Will Have You Glued To The Pages!!!
This is the second book that I've read by Ms. Cooper-Posey and it was great! The characters, the setting, and even the storyline are unique and fun.

The chemistry between Calli and Nicolas is instant and it's hot, but Ms. Cooper-Posey manages to draw it out and as a result when our lovers finally get together it's beyond steaming. This is really a great story about two people who are greatly attracted to each other but can't be together because of a situation (in this case civil war for a very small country) that is beyond their control.

This story is very romantic and although this is a "romantica" story this is not a book with page after page of gratuitous sex scenes. Instead it's a story about strength and integrity, and yes, attraction.

Nicolas is the half-brother of the President of Vistaria. His country is on the brink of revolution and the last thing he needs is an instant and intense attraction to American Calli Munro. She is everything that he wants but can't have.

Callie on the other hand has just come to Vistation at the request of her uncle Josh.On her first night in town she finds herself in jail with nothing and no one and she is less then thrilled. Before she knows it she is being release after a rather intense interview with a red headed mystery man.The attraction she feels for him is more then anything that she has felt in a very long time, and when he is about to walk away she tries to hold on, but mystery man walks away with a hit of sadness in his eyes. She has no idea who her rescuer is and she can't get him out of her mind, even when she's asleep.Soon her world will collide with his and she will find out just who Nicolas really is.Even knowing she can't have him doesn't detract from their mutal attraction. Will they ever be able to act on their feelings or will threat of war keep them apart?

This was really an emotional story that was well told. The characterization was right on, and Ms. Cooper-Posey does an excellent job of keeping our interest alive while at the same time keeps our lovers apart. That is until...well, never mind I'll let you read the book! This was a great book that I highly recommend to the fan of the romance genre.Word of warning things are a little spicy then the average romantic read but it's tastefully done.Ms. Cooper-Posey is now and author I'll pick up simply because her name in on the cover.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Read
Originally posted at: [...]

Diana wonders, "Is it all the world that resents my place in it?" Her overwhelming desire is to have the freedom to live, work, and take care of her home and not to be subjugated to the desires, wishes, and demands of another who would control her and all she owns.

In the northern area of fifth-century Britain, Diana survived the horrors of the Saxons' attack. While she suffers the "Red Cloud" nightmare, both night and day, she keeps it at bay as best she can as she manages the villa after all the men are gone, the gate is destroyed, and all thing of value are stolen. With labor of women and children, she runs a well-ordered household, expects, and receives precision and speed in doing the work needed for all of them to survive. She is fair and just. Only with her little, mute sister Minna does she show a never-failing, patient gentleness.

When the Roman legionnaires left some fifty years ago, Britain splintered into little groups of Britons, Celts, Romans, and Saxons (many mercenaries and slaves that the legionnaires deserted}. Now the Saxons raid mercilessly and the different groups squabble with each other. It is a chaotic time. In the north, the Roman Catholics are virtually defenseless against the Saxons and marauders. Yet the bishops of the church demand all the old customs and laws be adhered to and allegiance be given to the church in Rome. Diana is in a precarious situation.

Arthur, with his plan to unit the country, sends Alaric and his soldiers north to build and tend a beacon and to maintain peace in the area. They arrive and insist then bargain with Diana to feed and house them during their stay. She is desolate but determined to hold what is hers.

Alaric's allegiance to Arthur and the vision for Britain's future never falters as he carries out Arthur's orders and does what needs to be done to keep his bargain with the tiny, feisty Diana that reminds him of a feral kitten with her back arched, fur raised, an claws showing. Her never-ceasing efforts to take care of those in her household makes him and his men willing to help as they all struggle to survive.

Diana By The Moon, full of struggles, conflicts, underhanded dealings of a bishop, and the innate need to love and be loved, captures the reader's attention and heart. When it looks like all is lost for Diana, she gambles that a culture she has no real knowledge of will help her save the villa and help her realize her hope of having control of her estate, her life, and her freedom. In her gamble, she gains a love that surpasses all she'd ever dreamed of.

Tracy Cooper-Posey is a superb story teller and creates realist scenes of life and the struggles of that age. But her scene of Alaric seeing Diana in the snowy clearing in the forest enchants, as do many others, one of which is the ceremony with the Priestess of the Moon that is pure magic. Spellbinding imagery makes the story sparkle. When Alaric comes to fully understand and met Diana's needs, the love scene is breathtaking.

Diana By The Moon lifts up hope for humanity and shows a remarkable, giving love that fills the heart with happiness. GOOD READING!

4-0 out of 5 stars Historical Romance with a twist
Diana by the Moon is a romance placed in Britain during the time of King Arthur. Diana is the grown daughter of a Roman family that has lived in Britain for generations. Rome has abandoned its colony, leaving the colonists prey to invasion by Saxon invaders. Tradition is strong, however, and so is the disdain colonists have for the 'local' people, peasants, and barbarians all. Worst of all is the upstart Celtic bastard who calls himself king:Arthur Pendragon.

Alaric, a cousin of both Arthur and Merlin, has come to Eboracus (modern day York) on King Arthur's order. He's to set up a line of warning beacons stretching to the coast. These will warn Arthur's armies as soon as the Saxons invade. The most logical location for the beacon is on Diana's estate.

Diana has lost most of her family and her virginity to a Saxon strike. She has wrested the estate from the shambles they left. Her leadership, grit, and determination have brought the surviving women and children through overwork and starvation to a moderate safety. She has no desire whatsoever to suffer the imperious orders of a Celtic barbarian who's determined to appropriate her estate.

Diana by the Moon is more a historical romance than a fantasy. Britain's mixed cultural heritage, and the inevitable conflict, adds color to this tale of fear and passion. Diana and Alaric are both haunted by memories of violent loss. Somehow, they must overcome their antagonism and work together for Arthur's ideal: a united, well-defended Britain. This book presents a modern tale of passion against a historical backdrop of battle, honor, and chivalry. Ms. Cooper-Posey has a deft touch.

by Angela Black

Set in the Dark Ages of 5th Century Britain just after Rome fell, this is the story of 21-year old Diana, whose family wants to maintain their identity as Romans. However, the country is divided into warring fractions as the Celts, who were in hiding, have emerged and are trying to recover all that was taken from them under the Romans.

When the Saxons invade Diana's family lands, the only members who survive are Diana and her younger sister. She suddenly finds herself the head of the family and its people, a great responsibility for a young protected maiden. But she is successful and after a year of putting things in order, along comes a visitor who challenges Diana's rights to her property.

Alaric, a Celtic warrior and lieutenant to Arthur Pendragon, dislikes the Romans. He believes Britain's future lies united under Arthur's rule. This is quite a task considering that most of Britain is still devoted to Rome and scorn Pendragon. Alaric angers Diana when he blackmails her into showing allegiance to Arthur.

When other Britons plot to take Diana's property, she must find a way to overcome her adversaries and protect those under her protection and this means she must turn to Alaric.

Tracy Cooper-Posey has written an exceptional historical story. The plot is tight, the characters are multidimensional, and the story holds the reader's attention to the end. Many facts of early British history---Druid legends, Saxon raids, Roman goddesses---have been woven into the story and give the setting a realistic feeling.

Diana emerges as a strong leader who helps her people overcome the threat of starvation and a Saxon invasion. This powerful woman lives up to her namesake, "the hunter" and "Roman goddess of the moon." The story left me satisfied and I plan to read Cooper-Posey's future and previous works.

The story 'Diana by the Moon' is set in Britain in the year 469 A.D., shortly after the Roman legions have returned to Rome, leaving Britain open for Saxon attacks. Diana's abusive parents, along with all the other elders, die in just such an attack the very day her brother takes most of the male slaves and servants to join the rebel Celt Arthur - a move severely opposed by Diana's father. Diana and the women left behind after the three-day pillage by the Saxons must find a way to survive after the enemies have stolen everything from them. They struggle to eke a living out of the meager provisions left after the raid. Alaric is a soldier loyal to Arthur and has been sent by him to establish and maintain a line of signal beacons - one of which has to be built on a strategically placed hill on Diana's property. The mission is important to Alaric and he forces Diana to say yes in return for the protection of Alaric's men. Little do they know that Diana will be dragged into the net that is politics as a result and that Alaric will have to make good of his promise to save her life.

This is a well-written story set in an untraditional time. Diana and Alaric are likable characters who come off as real people. The author certainly has done extensive and thorough research, making the story seem very realistic and believable. Diana has experienced a great deal of misfortune, but is still a strong character determined to let no one rule her life. I especially liked the fact that, even though she is independent, she knows exactly what the society in which she lives demands from her and chooses her battles accordingly. Alaric is staunchly loyal to both Arthur and Diana and his final struggle to choose between the two is highly amusing. I only have one complaint - in the otherwise so well balanced and structured story, the Saxons came as purely evil and hate-filled goons, each and every one of them. Surely not all Saxons are raping and thieving creatures. Apart from that, this is a very good read. ... Read more
